Well obviously there is some link, or why would any have symptoms? Obviously not all celiacs would be glutened. Just like not all celiacs are glutened from drinking Rice Dream. Everyone has different reactivity levels. It also must depend on how much touches you, where, the way it touches you, and how quickly you wash the skin. If I put a bunch of...

Here's the cold hard truth.. "should be safe" means "people with very mild allergies can usually consume them without noticeable issues." If it has the word wheat, without "-free" behind it, or "buck" in front, and your a celiac.. You're probably going to get sick. Same goes with soy This includes wheat grass, considered safe for celiacs only by non-celiacs...

ARCHIVED Feria Hair Color

I did not notice a skin reaction, but I only applied three to my significant other (only touched my fingertips) and I didn't I washed my hands afterward. It was some store's discount off brand, hypoallergenic version (I have learned not to trust that word). Off topic question : All I know is they filter and semi-purify water that goes down our drains... -

ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....
raisin replied to jerseyangel's topic in Super Sensitive People
Well, that's hard to say because so many of us got on the diet only after years and years of poisoning ourselves, too. On the bright side, that means he's no worse off than many of the people here. It seems there isn't a dramatic difference, and its a very individual process. I've been gluten free almost a year and I'm still not healed, and I was diagnosed... -
ARCHIVED "Super Sensitive" Celiacs.....

Nutribiotic Shampoos, bodywash, skin cleansers, deodorants etc.. Has anyone has a reaction? I really need a new soap, face cleaner, mouthwash, deodorant, and shampoo. This company makes them all, and is gluten-free, but says not all of their products are/maybe made in dedicated facilities, and I haven't had luck yet in getting a reply as to which of... -
I think I'm allergic to hand soap I bought at gfsoap.com.. I don't seem to react to their shampoo, but I started using their hand soap on my head (ran out of shampoo) and have been having serious illness issues ever sense. My hands also have weird eczema going on, but I don't know how long after I started using the soap that started. (gluten seriously effects...

That is very interesting. Mine also does not extend to my fingers or thumbs, but effects all of my knuckles and not the lower part of the back of my hand. It may only flake because of how often I wash my hands, I couldn't say for sure. It started for me while I was on vacation, and yes, came in contact with wheat. My hands also get that "on fire" sensation...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Cough Syrup?

This was one of the first things I had to hunt down for myself, and I checked it recently, too : Vicks liquid medicines of every type (the cough drops contain gluten) -
ARCHIVED Time To Play "name That Gluten"
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Raw veggies and apples are actually the only things that calm my stomach.. Which, I have noticed, is rather abnormal around here. Maybe I just don't have much gut damage, you know, all bark and no bite. I have been having full-on gluten episodes though, my mood and brain-fog, everything been happening. The salad I actually added to my diet post-gluten... -

Who needs spices anyway? I can eat my burgers without cinnamon. Ahh really I have wondered about the spices for a long time - thank you so much for testing them and posting about it. I don't think it's what made me so sick, but it's always better to remove everything risky. -
ARCHIVED Does Coffee Have Gluten In It?
raisin replied to LadyCyclist87's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes. Organic is just a blanket term for the 3 - 5 companies I called (names I can no longer remember without searching Google for a while) so you would have to call your brand yourself to be sure it contains gluten. Be weary of clearly labeled "gluten-free" organic coffees, found one only to read it contained barley. -
That is much easier to understand than the other pages I've read. But I am still unsure if I could have DH or not.. I do get small bumps that itch and I can't seem to stop scratching at, they occur in (very small) clusters, and often on both sides of my body at once, but it's mainly my shoulder/upper back/chest/neck area. I have gotten them on my hands...

ARCHIVED 100% gluten-free Shampoo?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Oh wow, I had no idea; but I can't be too surprised, even Trader Joes doesn't have a gluten-free section like Wegmans does. Trader Joes deterred me from store brands, so it's good to hear there are some safe ones at least. I can't even imagine eating a store-bought pickle! Sadly, it's too far out of my way (now) for me to take advantage of that. I used... -

ARCHIVED Ener-g Cced?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have been made sick by at least 7 dedicated lines before. One thing I have considered is their sources contaminating the raw materials, or them re-using equipment that was not formally gluten-free. Maybe just sensitivities I don't know I have.. But I don't know what could be in the rice bread, other than rice, that could provoke an intolerant or allergic... -

I have a problem with everything you listed, plus yeast, though corn is just a "maybe" for me. It isn't long-time or fresh new symptoms, it's more like sudden glutening symptoms that won't go away. my biggest complaint is that right before sleeping 4 nights out of the past 2 weeks, I have started to feel sicker and sicker until I'd have to sit... -
ARCHIVED 100% gluten-free Shampoo?
raisin replied to raisin's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, they told me over the phone , my exact question "Are all of your products gluten-free?" "Yes, they are." however, not all of their products seem to be produced on dedicated lines, which is the email list I am waiting for. -
The past couple of weeks I have been up all night with gluten symptoms. Something very new to my diet is almond-butter & rice bread sandwiches.. I noticed I seemed to be a little better the day I cut back, and it's the last thing I ate each night I got so sick (though sick hours later) I have wondered about this bread and cut it out of my diet in...

ARCHIVED 100% gluten-free Shampoo?

Other than being fragrance-free, do you know the actual status that company has on gluten? Not having obvious gluten ingredients isn't the same as being a dedicated CC-free product. -
ARCHIVED Does Coffee Have Gluten In It?
raisin replied to LadyCyclist87's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Plain coffee can be a problem based on the companies processing procedures. Starbucks, Folgers, Green Mountain, and Royal Cup (commercial use brand only) are all considered safe brands. Seattle's Best, Fair Trade, and every organic brand I have come across contain gluten, or won't state whether or not they do. -

Here we go again. I've been sick for three weeks strait and am at the point I need help to identify why. First I thought eating out caused it. No more outback. Then I found out my mouthwash was contaminated, and my deodorant might be. Bye-bye crest. Thought it could be toothbrush, replaced it again. It is possible I eliminated whatever made me sick already... -
ARCHIVED I Accidently Ate Gluten.

Ahh the eternal quest. Here are well-praised remedies I have come across so far : Herbs : Slippery elm, chamomile tea, raspberry leaf tea, Medicine : Stomach Plus Formula from AloeLife.com, L Glutamine, medical marijuana (where legal) Simple aid : Keep stomach full of bland/soothing foods (lettus, apples, rice cakes, or whatever simple food you enjoy... -
Oh trust me, I am a celiac. But I have never been to a dermatologist, and can't afford it right now. That's exactly what happens to me. My skin reacts whether I eat it or touch it. When I was younger I had some problems with my elbows and knees, but I don't remember much. It isn't related to my clothing lines, though. Can anyone give me a non-scientifically...

ARCHIVED Question
raisin replied to Dasmith's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
No one has yet asked the obvious question.. How sure are you the popcorn was gluten-free? Is it labeled Gluten-free, and even if the box says the words "gluten-free", is it made on a product line that doesn't also process gluten-containing items? Also, have you considered lactose intolerance? Most celiacs can't digest dairy (some ever, some just at first...
