  1. Okay, I don't want to hijack this thread, but does all this that everyone's writing about DNA testing and there being more than one Celiac gene mean that if I got tested through Enterolab, and they told me I didn't have the genes for Celiac, that might be wrong?

  3. If the area that's effected doesn't hurt (everyone mentions PAIN), is it still DH? Also, if you have DH, but your household isn't gluten-free, what do you do if you have to come in contact with wheat? For instance I have to fix my 3.5-y.o. son sandwiches. Do you wear gloves or just wash your hands afterward or what? Thanks

I hadn't had one in over a year, but despite being gluten-free since May I had one pop up a few days ago.   5. I'm in NO way extremely sensitive to gluten, but McDonald's fries (the one time I ate them after going gluten-free months ago) definitely brought all my symptoms back. Now there's not enough money in the world that would make me try them again...and honestly they weren't that good the first time

I was drinking 3-4 cups of black tea a day before I went gluten-free, and now (four months later) if I had anything more than one small cup of green tea in the mornings I can't sleep at night.   8. I was getting really bad stomach aches from the Honey Nut gluten-free Chex, and I think it's from the ALMONDS that are part of the ingredient list. Just something to think about. I've never reacted to almonds before, and I can eat the gluten-free Rice Chex just fine (shrug)

  11. Still waiting on the stock at my local Publix to run out so they have to replace it with the newer products. I got tired of eating Rice Chex, so I've been eating waffles. I'm DYING for some Honey Nut ANYTHING!
  12. This is going to seem like an odd question, but have they changed their recipe lately? The last few boxes I've bought of both the gluten-free blueberry and gluten-free apple-cinnamon taste different - like real waffles - and aren't crumbly like the other (dozens) boxes I've bought of theirs. I'm actually scared to eat them. Ideas?

It was a box clearly labeled "Van's Apple Cinnamon gluten-free waffles". When I tasted them, though, they didn't have the same gluten-free texture that we're all used to.   17. The bone density scan is a *really* good idea! Thanks!! I've had blood tests and body scans for the weight loss, and everything turned out a-o.k. (except for the low calcium levels, which my primary doctor didn't even mention - I found out only when I requested a copy of the test). If I still have issues over the next few weeks, then I will...
  18. It sucks, to say the least. In my case I always take food to my MiL's house. She thinks of wheat = bread products only, so I know I'd have a fight on my hands every time. Baked potatoes and salads are my staples at her house.
  19. Mine appeared pretty soon after I gave birth (my pregnancy was eventless, though I did have a bad reaction to the epidural). I was diagnosed with hypothyroid about 8 months after I gave birth, so I'm not sure which to attribute the exhaustion to - the thyroid or the celiac - but I noticed the bloating about a year after my son was born.   21. I have suspected an intolerance to wheat/gluten for a little over a year now. Severe bloating after eating wheat-heavy foods like pizza, pasta and such.
