  1. First, biopsies can rule celiac in but not out. If you were gluten free damage could have healed, there could be sporadic damage, or could be in beginning stages and not show damage yet. I would definitely go with your blood tests...also you said you have been improving on the diet which is the ultimate tests. I would for sure stick with it....4 months...
  2. I don't know which one is true but I have heard some of each. My doctor has told me that genetically predisposed people can develop celiac if they have a sensitivity but ignore it...then I see what your doctors have told you so it's quite difficult to know what is true. If someone is already predisposed to celiac though I would think it could turn into...
  3. I get Stevia at a local health food store. However, every so often a friend of ours does a co-op and we get stevia through their for way less...if anyone is interested in in you can contact me and I can let you know when they do that. Also, the SweetLeaf has different flavors of stevia now...I have not checked on the flavored ones...just the regular one...
  4. I use the SweetLeaf brand of liquid stevia and that is gluten free.
  5. Yea about 1% have the DQ1 gene I believe I heard...so a strong majority have one of the 2 main genes but a very small portion do not.
  6. It would be very likely to turn to celiac if you have the gene though. Maybe thats something worth looking into for the original poster to see if she is predisposed to it because most people do have one of the main genes. However, I would be very interested in knowing if there are diagnosed celiacs without the gene.
  7. Yep backing up what the others have said here....you have to be 100% gluten free to prevent damage. Anything and everything needs to be checked...gluten can be in makeups, hair products, soaps, household products, medications, foods, etc... and the gluten containing ones all must be eliminated.
  8. My doctor (very knowledgeable in celiac disease) and I were talking about celiac...I scheduled and appointment just so I could talk to him about info because of some things I am working on. Anyways, he told me that if you are intolerant to gluten and your body is bothered when you eat it but you continue to eat it then it can turn into celiac(if you have...
  9. Yes, because if you have a gluten sensitivity and continue to eat gluten it can turn into celiac.
  10. Yes, I believe O is the most common blood type but I am not sure on that.
  11. I am O+...alot of my family is O+ and many have digestive problems but will not get tested for celiac. Only a few have went for testing.
  12. Yea, I bet almost everyone gets that amount daily..it's almost inevitable.
  13. Yep, celiac3270 completely agree...some people have different opinions on amounts though. Some people may also be more sensitive. There are amounts they say celiacs should be able to tolerate but thats very very minimal amounts. Some people may say that gluten amounts in products would not be significant too but in my opinion that is way too much.
  14. Once he is gluten free 100% and heals he should continue his normal growing and his body will catch up if the growth being stopped was celiac related. When my symptoms started up my growth stopped at about 5'2. I was 16 at the time of diagnosis....now I am 18 and 5'4 and still noticing a change in height. Kids and teens who had delayed and stunted growth...
  15. Some may not react to small amounts but ANY amount of gluten that gets into your system will cause damage.
  16. I also see the one of you in a wedding gown. When I can't see a new one, most of the time when I hit refresh the new one comes up.
  17. Definitely go 100% gluten free as if you had celiac.
  18. It gets a little bit different later on in life from my experience. In college I have found people are more accepting. People could care less about the diet I am on. I am considered normal just like everyone else...there are just certain things I can't eat..they ask about it and want to know more...some don't understand it but they are still pretty accepting...
  19. Yes, all of them are gluten free and made on dedicated lines. However, not all of them say "naturally free of gluten" on the side. It would be nice if they did that on all of them but they do not..they are all safe though.
  20. Is it really that big of deal? I mean if someone with diabetes or another food allergy was going out with someone and said I can't have that and explain why that would not matter...celiac is no different. Any person that is worth your time will consider celiac to be very minor.
  21. Loose flour can for sure gluten you...particles get into your digestive tract through your nose and mouth.
  22. ALL of the STAXX are gluten free...just some do not say naturally free of gluten on them. They are made on dedicated gluten free lines according to many people I have talked to so if you have a problem with them it is not gluten related.
  23. Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi is gluten free(no soda is really good for you but i prefer the sugar in the regular stuff to the chemicals in the diet stuff)....The Coke and Pepsi soft drink lines are gluten free
  24. I believe mine was almost 3 times what it should have been.
  25. Alot of the Listerine mouthwashes are gluten free. I use FreshBurst and was told that it is gluten free. I use it with no problems. They do say their products are gluten free but that they can't guarantee that there was no cross contamination (this is a standard response from companies to cover their butt) You may want to check the Delphi List under...
