  1. That is very common. I was sick no matter what I ate...gluten did not really phase me at first. The more I was gluten free the more sensitive I became to it. Even if you do not get symptoms though, you need to not cheat because it will still cause damage whether or not you feel it.
  2. Yes, Post Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles are gluten free. Kelloggs Corn Pops are NOT gluten free. Rice Krispies are NOT gluten free.
  3. The smallest bit of gluten can cause damage..no varying levels with celiac. You have it or you don't. The only thing that varies are symptoms. Some people never get symptoms and others are more sensitive to the smallest amount.
  4. Alot of people do not get any symptoms so yes you can be doing so much damage and not have symptoms. You can NEVER outgrow celiac..the only cure is the gluten free diet..there is not a cure and it is a genetic autoimmune disease You could have other things wrong that celiac caused..I can't tell you whats wrong because I do not know but it could...
  5. Welcome to the board. Well definitely there can be more serious effects by not following the diet. The statas are very alarming. 40-100 times more likely to get cancer, diabetes, and other life threatening and disabling illnesses. It knocks an average of 10 years off your life too. Thankfully, you realize the mistake now and are changing that. This site...

  8. Whey has nothing to do with wheat or gluten. It has to do with milk...so unless you have a problem with milk then you can have it.
  9. The gum is supposed to be gluten free. I have used stuff with Xylitol too and have had no problems. I guess that may have not settled well with you though.
  10. That's good Glad you had a good experience. In my personal opinion Tinkyada has the best pasta for us around. If you have not tried it, I recommend you do.
  11. Yep, celiac can do that. Growth delay and lack of weight gain are symptoms of celiac. That is due to the malnutrition. He should be checked even if you do not have it. You were not gluten free when the tests were done right? That can screw up test results.
  12. Some is and some isn't. I love Wrigleys and they are all safe.
  13. I can understand your frustration. It takes alot for me to bite my tongue when people downplay it like that.
  14. No, it will not go away. When you are diagnosed, thats it you have it...no going back to not having it ever again. Now pregnancy can trigger celiac to activate so your symptoms may have started with that. You do not have to have any symptoms at all to have it though. They need to research it a little more. Tell them to come to this site and get info...
  15. Yes, itching can come with it...do you get any bumps with it? That can actually be DH which can come with celiac if you get like a bumpy rash with it. Also, for me I started putting on weight after a few months being gluten free. It takes some time for symptoms to go away and intestines to heal and everyones time range for healing is different. It all...
  16. Welcome to the board You can ask any questions that you have on this site. A support group would probably help you out to but this is an awesome resource of information that is invaluable. The people on here are supportive and knowledgable and no question is stupid to ask.
  17. I think that obviously the tests show a gluten issue. The tTG and EMA are more specific for damage so if there is none yet then they could come back negative..they are very good tests and will usually pick up damage quickly. The first thing to elevate is IgG and IgA. They detect a problem with gluten in the body. Even though they are less accurate they...
  18. Certain things that you find important may not be to others as much and maybe things you do not find of importance are more important to others. It all depends where we are at.
  19. You can't really expect improvement so quick. It took me about 3 months to even really see a difference and then I was normal by about the 8th month. Everyone varies on the time it takes for symptoms to go away. It will get easier but you have to give it alot of time. Remember you are also in learning stages of the gluten free diet so there will be accidents...
  20. I think the Enterolab is great testing and accurate. Those other problems you had were also probably from untreated celiac. If you go to the home page of this site and scroll down there is a link to recommended doctors by other celiacs. You can search for your area as well. You may be able to find one that way. Doctors who are knowledgable in celiac may...
  21. Yes, some vinegars are grain based but the gluten does not get through the distillation process. Distilled vinegar will be ok...it was thought to be bad before but it is pretty much agreed on that it is safe now. Nabisco won't hide anything on labels though and will clearly indicate gluten.
  22. For me I will not eat at a place where they do not have a policy about gluten free items. There are places like the Outback that have gluten free menus. Also, McDonalds has some gluten free items...there are more places too. There are restaurant card that you can get through different websites to give to the waiter/waitress too which tells them what...
  23. I can't see your avatar either. The site was updted and since then some of the avatars can't be seen. You do not have to have one.
  24. Crohns and Celiac are different but they are both digestive disorders. With them not treated they can both lead to serious problems and some of the same symptoms. One does not usually turn into the other but you can have both. Crohns mainly effects the large intestine and Celiac mainly effects the small intestine. Celiac is commonly misdiagnosed for things...
  25. When going to things like that the best thing to do is bring along some of your favorite things to snack on. Yes, it is hard at first to watch people eat stuff you can't have and have to smell it but it will get easier. It bothered me alot at first but some food I have is just as good as that and it won't make me sick..the other food doesn't even really appeal...
