  1. General Mills cereals we can't have but General Mills has alot of other products we can have. Beer and hot pockets are both no's for us but alot of wines are ok. Alot of celiacs are skinny but alot are just the opposite. So it varies from person to person.

Those results are positive...whose the doctor trying to kid here? Those tests gave you an answer-gluten is damaging to you and you need to avoid it.
  3. Usually touching will not cause a reaction, its the ingesting that does. Could you have gotten a little bit into your mouth through cross contamination? Or did you have a cut in your hand? I for one get reactions from just being around wheat and when I touch it..I have in addition to celiac a true severe allergy to wheat. So, there is always that possibility...
  4. If you like Pringles but are bummed you can't have most of them try Lay's Staxx. They are all gluten free and made on a dedicated line. They are just like the Pringles.
  5. Plain yeast is fine...no gluten
  6. I'm sure it does have some good info in it so I'm sure there are things to learn. Just keep that in mind
  7. Rachel-Do watch out for the gluten free bible because it does have quite a bit of inaccuracies regarding products and there are some approaches i don't agree with. It is ok for experienced celiacs who may know a bit more but not a book that I would recommend for new celiacs.
  8. Sounds like a possibility of celiac. When the nurse told you what they were checking thats what they do with an endoscopy. It sounds like they did what was scheduled. The doctor may have seen something while checking and decided to take some samples to see if they test positive for celiac. Did you have blood tests for celiac? Or is this the first time...
  9. All you can really do is give them the info they need to know and bring it up every now and then. I think it is sick that they would mess around with something that could kill their child. They need to get the seriousness of it but you can't really push the issue because they are the parents and make these decisions.

Stupid doctor... You should be gluten free. If the biopsy came back positive you have celiac. It may just not be extensive damage but you have celiac. Have you had blood tests done before? The same ones that were positive should be followed up on in a few months to see if levels went down yet. They are used to measure compliance. Have the doctor...
  11. Well this list of brands will clearly list wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label or it will be safe. They will not hide anything even under otherwise questionable ingredients: Aunt Nelly’s Balance Baskin Robbins Ben&Jerry Betty Crocker Blue Bunny Breyers Campbells Cascadian Farms Celestial Seasonings Country Crock Dove Edy’s General Mills Go...
  12. Welcome~ It's worth being tested for. Just make sure the complete panel is done. This site is a wonderful resource and beware that not many doctors are very updated on celiac so the best thing you can do is read and get knowledge about it because knowledge is power.
  13. 1) yes with an intolerance you can get the same severity of reactions because your body is not tolerating the gluten 2) I'm not sure about this one so maybe someone can help you out more here 3)an intolerance/sensitivity is NOT an allergy. It's negative reaction to food but not an allergy or autoimmune disease. 4)Well it could be a candida and gluten...
  14. There has been some debate about whether or not gluten intolerance can turn into full blown celiac if you continue to eat gluten. I think it could happen because you are pushing your body. I think that reactions can be similar between the 2. I never followed the candida diet. I took the liquid Nystatin and it worked great for me.
  15. Well by the looks of the results, gluten is causing some severe reactions in your body. Avoid it completely. Gluten intolerance genes indicate your body has a negative reaction to gluten and fighting it. A celiac gene is when the gluten damages your intestines. However, the reactions you can get can be just as severe with a gluten intolerance and celiac...
  16. Yes, PF Changs is a good place to go. However, do not assume all chinese food rice is gluten free. The plain rice with nothing may be ok but it depends where they cook it. The fried rice they will use soy sauce that alot of times we can't have.
  17. I trust TCBY(at least here where I live) The DQ where I live I do not trust though...so it does depend on the place. If you are scared to take him anywhere the best thing to do is buy the ice cream you know he can have.
  18. The Chili by Hormel and Beef Stew by Dinty Moore have been some of my favorites. I have not found a replacement for chicken noodle soup in a can but Sheltons has a pretty good chicken and rice soup and they have some other flavors too but I have not tried them all. Also, making chicken noodle soup is good and not even that difficult but its definitely...
  19. Ranch dressing-Kraft-all of their products will clearly indicate gluten in the form of wheat, rye, barley, oats right on the label CoffeeMate is gluten free. Nestle will not hide any gluten so just look for wheat, rye, barley, oats on the label or it will be safe. Angel Food Cake-not any mainstream brands with mixes that are gluten free but there are recipes...
  20. Most of the mainstream brands are made in at least facilities that make wheat. I personally eat products made on the same lines. To cut out all those brands I do not think there would be a large selection of foods to choose from. I mean even brands like Amy's are made where wheat is processed. I think it is ok to eat gluten free products that were processed...
  21. I had the test done at Prometheus and the full panel plus gene test was like 1200 something I believe and insurance(which we have good insurance) covered only some and we ended up paying like 700 some dollars. Maybe I had other tests from there as well but it was really expensive. They are a great lab for celiac though...the best of the best
  22. Who is the manufacturer? Or is it that brand you listed? Nevermind...I looked it up on the Delphi List Reddi-Whip made by ConAgra Foods ....it IS gluten free.
  23. What you can do is just bring your own drink along. Nobody will care. I have had to bring my drinks pretty much everywhere I go and people don't even ask questions. They don't need an explanation to why you brought it along either. However, if you are talking alcoholic beverages then its probably a good thing you can't have the drinks they have there. You...
  24. Welcome to the board There is really no point in testing kids under the age of 2 because results are not accurate. Yes, you have to be on gluten for at least 3 months prior to testing for it to be accurate. If he is benefiting from the diet then stick with it because that is way better then having your child feel bad.
  25. Yes, that does sound like celiac. She should have the following bloodtests done: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti-Tissue Transglutaminase (tTG) IgA Total Serum IgA
