  1. It cleans the air but I would not trust that to take care of flour if its a place where flour floats around.
  2. Doctors are not really up on things when it comes to celiac. Also, celiac is not an allergy so if your allergist did allergy testing then it would not show celiac. Celiac has a separate panel that needs to be done. Also, if the celiac panel was done, which tests were they? Was it the full panel? Celiac can't be treated by doctors. Only thing you can do is...
  3. Flour is very powdery so when it spills on the floor it is likely also in the air around the place it spilled. Is there any way you could work there but not take care of that stuff or be around it?
  4. Yep, I am sensitive to light too. I keep sunglasses with me most of the time.
  5. The problem is if you breathe it in then it gets into your digestive tract. So I don't know how you would avoid it.
  6. Were you gluten free at the time of testing? If you were not on gluten then the results may not come back right. I am glad that you feel better on the diet so you should continue to stick to it. There is so much stuff that you can have that your friends can have too so it won't be as hard when you get used to it and find things
  7. That is wonderful!!! I hope she continues to improve on the diet
  8. Definitely a huge risk. I would personally not risk it and find another job.
  9. I know they usually wash them out in between anyway after talking to a friend that works there. Also, considering very few drinks actually have gluten in it I would think it would not be as much of a risk as some places. Still wouldn't hurt to make sure they clean it in case. I guess it would be possible for gluten free cheescake at Starbucks. It's good...
  10. I find that my makeup stays on a long time. It's so easy to put on too. It takes me like 5 minutes to do my makeup now. If you pull a white shirt over your head you can see a little bit of makeup come off but thats with all kinds of makeup. Aside from that it stays on. I absolutely love it and wish I had switched sooner then I did.
  11. Yes, it is genetic so you got the gene from one or both parents. That does not mean they have it though. They may have the gene but not have had the celiac triggered. They should be tested though.
  12. Yes, in my experience people take it more seriously if you describe it as an allergy. However, I learned that saying an autoimmune disorder will get their attention too. Alot of times I will say that gluten will tear up my intestines and can put me at high risk for cancer and other things and that I will die prematurely. That pretty much gets their attention...
  13. I like some of their cereals. I have not tried the onion bagels but have tried the blueberry and cinnamon raisin. I thought they were ok...I can definitely eat them but they are not like great or anything. The blueberry one has very good flavor too it...the first time I made it too hard so it wasn't good but the second time I made it a little bit softer...
  14. Is 3 times good? To be glutened at all is bad. Glad to have you back here Michelle....I was wondering where you were too but thought you just had a busy schedule or something.
  15. Most of my symptoms were constant too and it was not fun. Many people here had it alot worse so I guess I can be grateful that I didn't have it as bad as them. Some of the symptoms got worse after eating though...I was a gluten eater.
  16. Which blood tests were done? Yes, it is possible to be have a severe reaction to the slightest bit of gluten. You definitely sound like you have a definite problem with it. It's great you have been feeling better so quick. However, do not expect all problems to go away overnight. It took me 8 months to get back to normal(I did see improvement after the ...
  17. Yep it does sound like celiac symptoms. My main complaint was nausea and I had plenty of other ones too. Definitely get tested. Many doctors are not knowledgable about celiac and give out bad info. Doctors are just one reason of why it is so underdiagnosed and misdiagnosed. I was told by doctor after doctor that it was all in my head...don't buy it. You know...
  18. Natural flavors are ok most of the time but you have to check each product. IF the website said it was gluten free then those natural flavors were fine. Do you have the safe and forbidden lists of ingredients and foods? https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid=12 That is the link to go to if you do not have it. Have you changed your products(makeups...
  19. tTG detects damage in the intestine and is a very accurate test. Biopsies can rule celiac in but can't rule celiac out. There could be sporadic damage they missed or in beginning stages. Dietitians are not too good. Many know less about it then doctors. Doctors are also not up to speed on celiac and many misdiagnose and miss it completely. Especially since...
  20. NO WAY!!!!! THAT HAPPENS TO ME 2!!!!!1 We also have little things we plug into the wall to scare off rodents and insects well I hear that noise too. They told me I have super sensitive ears.
  21. I use Seventh Generation or Arm and Hammer detergents. They are both gluten free. I personally get problems with certain kinds of detergents so I stick with those two brands.
  22. According to the Delphi List: All powder and capsules are gluten free. Wafers contain wheat flour.
  23. Yes, Minute Maid juices are gluten free.
  24. I had dizziness and blurred vision. Mono is what triggered my celiac to originally activate and that was one of my first symptoms. I had black outs alot and I also had to hold onto something because otherwise I would have fell down. Not sure if it was due to mono or celiac. I didn't have pain though...I had nausea rather than pain. It took them a long time...
  25. I would bring stuff along and eat before you go out with them. You could always just order a drink then and not eat because of cross contamination. They may not understand but don't let them pressure you because you will be the one who pays if you get glutened and that just would not be good. If you do want to eat there I would definitely make a call ahead...
