ARCHIVED Can Shingles Be A Symptom Of Celiac Disease?
Wolicki replied to blueeyedvegan's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I am pretty sure that Shingles is just chicken pox revisited. The virus lives in your system and sometimes pops up again as Shingles. Here's a link to an article on DH, and is has pictures. Is this what your rash looks like? Open Original Shared Link -

ARCHIVED With Muscle Comes Gut, Apparently
Wolicki replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Good news for next summer! Mister Softee is gluten free! I wish we had that in CA! Open Original Shared Link I hope your bloat goes away. I get it every time I eat anything processed, and I also have noticed a noticable pooch around the midsection. I sure hope it stops growing! -
I got my test results back. Vitamin D in normal range, though seems low at 37. Ref range is >20. Thyrolgloblulin antibodies <20 and peroxidase antibodies <10. So looks like standard run of the mill hypo. I am concerned that the doctor (idiot) only prescribed 75 mcg of Levoxyl, when the package insert clearly states that I should have a much...

ARCHIVED I Am Now Stummped What Is Going On Now
Wolicki replied to BKKloppenborg's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am staying away from alcohol just to be safe. As far as portable snacks go, I like Kind Bars-minimal ingredients. Whole Foods has some raw food bars that are very tasty. Look in their raw section. I also like Jif on the go- portable peanut butter snacks. Grapes, pears, carrots, string cheese- all can be packaged in little snack bags. Read EVERY... -

Wolicki replied to BKKloppenborg's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Have a big spoon full of natural nut butters several times a day, that helped me gain weight (I was 6ft at 97 lbs at my lowest). Almond, peanut, soy, cashew, they're all good, full of good fats, fiber and protein. And they're yummy, too. I like to smear a big spoon ful onto a rice cake -
ARCHIVED I Am Now Stummped What Is Going On Now
Wolicki replied to BKKloppenborg's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Brian, I am going to assume you are new to the diet. It is best to eat very SIMPLY in the beginning. My first advice to you would be to cut out all processed foods. Your gut is mangled inside and needs to heal. The more junk you put in it, the more reactions you will have. I have been gluten-free for 3 months plus. In the beginning, I didn't know... -
ARCHIVED "extreme" Hunger Ups And Downs?!
Wolicki replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Although it is very frustrating, it's all very normal in recovery. Almost everyone goes through t his. It's because you are healing and your body needs the nourishment. When it goes away is different for everyone, but it will subside. Hang in there! -

That's the only way I even knew I had a problem with my labs, because I had a copy faxed to me. My doc (PCP) never even called me

Thanks Gemini. You know, in order to feel nodules, he would have had to touch me. Yes, that's right, he never touched my throat, took my BP, nothing! I thought I would be less angry today, but not yet

THank you for the laughs! I am beginning my search today. I appreciate the support!

JoAnn, Thank you for the hugs I spent an hour crying on my boyfriend's shoulder after the visit, but I still can use all the hugs I can get. The weird thing is that I saw this doctor before while being treated for adrenal insufficiency a few years ago. I have an HMO, but I do have other options in Endo's. I really wish the HMO would allow me to...

ARCHIVED My Mother Died From Undiagnosed Celiac--do I Have It?
Wolicki replied to zoobie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is a good link: https://www.celiac.com/articles/57/1/Interp...ults/Page1.html According to this link, if you have a positive IGA then you have a 97 percent chance of having Celiac. You could have an endoscopy, or enterolab testing. I was satisfied with a positive IGA. It's up to you if you want to do more testing. I have read that there are... -
Hello all, Thanks for all the suggestions. I had my visit with the endo today. I started to explain my symptoms, and he said "none of this has anything to do with your thyroid." Just before he came in, I was reading all his charts on the wall regarding thyroid- hypo, hyper, etc. I had all of the hypo symptoms, and a TSH of 5.05 to go along with it. ...

ARCHIVED Going Gluten Free
Wolicki replied to homemaker's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
for almost 10 years. Within 2-3 days of gluten-free, C was gone. I still go 2-3 times a day. I think it's the eimination of processed foods and probiotics. I have noticed that if I forget to take my probiotics, I don't go as much. Finally got rid of those terrible H Amazing what a diet change can do! -
ARCHIVED About To Say Forget It All
Wolicki replied to Frances03's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Invest some time now trying to find a GOOD doctor that understands Celiac. I've got 4 doctors, and none of them have my confidence. I am sorry you are having the same problem most of us have had. The AMA or someone needs to educate these people!!! -
ARCHIVED Recently Diagnosed With Celiac
Wolicki replied to counsela26's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am still recovering. I am guessing that there has been significant damage to my intestines. I have found that I cannot tolerate any grains, including corn. I also has to give up most dairy and nut butters. These foods rely on the cilia in the intestines to be processed, and I guess mine are not healed yet. I also cannot tolerate processed foods. Lean... -
I thank God for this site everyday! I was diagnosed Celiac 3 months ago. Shortly after starting the diet, I gained 25 pounds overnight (literally) in fluid retention. My PCP, GI and Nephrologist can't figure it out. It's been 9 weeks and I still have all the fluid. Other problems are super slow metabolism! I've been eating about 1700 calories a...

ARCHIVED Hunger Finally Going Away?
Wolicki replied to CGally81's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Yeah, isn't the hunger crazy? I have been gluten-free for 3 months. In the first 6 weeks or so, I was constantly hungry, and never left the house without a snack. I mean, crazy hungry. I felt like I needed to eat 20 minutes after every meal. Thankfully, it has subsisded. Now I eat 3 times a day, plus a small snack in the morning and right before bed... -
ARCHIVED I Was Doing So Well! What's Going On?
Wolicki replied to laula's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Have you checked to make sure the Floravit does not contain gluten? If that's not the problem, I had similar issues with oral iron. I did two IV does, then didn't need another one for a year, and all my iron levels were good. Probably worth it to discuss iwth your doctor.. My blood pressure went down to about 70 over 50 most of the time, because of the...
