  1. Well, it looks like you have your dx already. Celiac or gluten sensitive, either way looks like gluten-free is the way to go for you. Maybe run the blood panel, since it's non-invasive, but there are lots of false negatives with the blood tests. I have been in your shoes. I ate and ate trying to gain weight. Strangers would stop me on the street and...
  2. I had terrible reflux before DX. 10 years of acid meds, Aciphex 40 mg worked the best, but sitll needed lots of Tums. Now I only get it when glutened. Until they get you fixed up, have you tried Gaviscon? It bubbles up and coats everything to stop the burning. I hope you feel better soon.
  3. I don't think they tested antibodies. I was referred to the endo. I didn't know there was such a thing as a thyroid doctor.... B12 is 545, ref range 200-1100 Cortisol is 9.2 ref range is 4.0-22.o
  4. You're a brave soul. I will not go back to gluten. Never.
  5. Have you had a complete metabolic panel done? If not, get to your PCP and get a full blood workup to check vitamins, minerals and red and white blood cells- you need to make sure you don't have an imbalance/deficiency/infection of some sort. That's where i would start if I were you. I hope you feel better soon. BTW, ask for a copy of your results!
  6. Well, count me dumb I guess that explains why I stopped eating beans of any kind.......DUH Thanks, you've saved me from some pain.........tsk, tsk!
  7. If you've been ok with other salads, lettuces, I would say it's probably the dressing. Almost every bottle of caesar dressing I have looked at contains gluten. Caesar is on my no list away from home- too risky and many servers have no idea what things contain gluten. I usually opt for oil and vinegar while dining out.
  8. Well, that was a healthy discussion, wasn't it? I've already had 2 colonoscopies, one at 40 and one at 43 (about 5 months ago). My dad died from colon cancer at 63, so I had my first screen done that year. All clean as a whistle. The old GI did an endo at the same time of my esophogus and stomach, and found gastritis and a little esophogitis- that appears...
  9. I was diagnosed 3 months ago via blood tests. Went Gluten free in June, most syptoms disappeared immediately after 10 years of terrible illness. My regular GI didn't know a thing about Celiac, so I switched to one who is more knowledgable. I declined the endo. My first visit was yesterday with the new doc. She seems a lot more knowledgeable, but insists...
  10. Thank you for the input. I did have the ferritin checked- it's 11. The range is 10-232. I guess that's low huh? I think I have found the reason for the non-existent metabolism and really bad edema. Any thoughts?
  11. oops sorry about that. Here it is: my results Reference range TSH 3rd generation 5.05 High >or=20 years 0.40 -4..50 T4 Free 1.0 normal 0.8-1.8 ng/dl T3 free 335 normal 230-420 pg/dl I am 43 years old
  12. Hi All, So I got the results of the big blood workup when I went to the new GI for my first visit today. She barely glanced at my test results Here are my results TSH 3rd generation 5.05 High T4 Free 1.0 normal T3 free 335 normal Now I have to wait for a referral to the endocrinologist- probably be Christmas before I get an appointment...
  13. Good luck to you in the transition! the best advice I can give is start very simply to avoid all the digestive issues that come along with going gluten-free. You may want to avoid the gluten-free breads and other products because they have so many additives. I couldn't tolerate them, and still don't do well at 3 months. Stick with lean proteins, fruits...

    ARCHIVED Not Feeling So Good!

Are you taking probiotics and enzymes? I would definitely add those if you are not. I am three months gluten-free, and still cannot tolerate legumes and grains. They're much tougher to digest. I also took another poster's advice, who said spinach was hard to digest when raw. So now, I cook it just a bit in some coconut oil and it's much easier on my...
  15. I have found the probiotics to be very helpful. Makes things more regular, and fewer digestive issues. I think it will help. When I first started, I was eating white and brown rice, quinoa, amaranth and some gluten free pastas (corn, rice) and bread. I looked like I was 7 months pregnant all the time and had terrible gas pains and/or flatulence...
  16. I just came out of the hungry phase. Lasted over 2 months! I was ravenous all the time! I am still fairly hungry up til lunch, then at lunch I eat a little and I am full. It's nice to know that I can actually feel full! I was getting worried for a while I tried lots of water, and found that nothing makes that kind of hungry go away. I had to get...
  17. The time varies from person to person. If you havne't started probiotics and enzymes, that 's a good start. I found that eliminating ALL grains helped so much with the bloating. Grains and processed foods really made me look very pregnant Bloating is mostly gone now, except for a weak moment when I had a hot dog and now I am paying for it with a huge...
  18. Hange in there, it does get better. Check out the thread in diets and weight for the Specific Carbohydrate Diet. It's helped a lot of people here. I've been resisting, but I think I might finally try it. Good luck to you!
  19. As a matter of fact, I have had some significant low back pain from working out. I have several herniated discs, and it flared up recently. I will call my chiro. Thanks
  20. That does not sound pleasant at all I am so sorry you are going through this.
  21. WEll, I guess the fun never ends So over the last few days, yet another new symptom has appeared. I get this tingly pins and needles feeling in my legs. Mostly it's is my ankles and the sides of my feet. It also gets kinda tingly behind my knees, and it feels hot, like only the backs of my knees have a fever. Is there no end to the crazy things that...
  22. Unfortunately, it takes a while. I don't know how long, but mine is finally getting better. I've been gluten-free for about 3 months. A week ago, my stomach was finally flat again Then I at a gluten-free hot dog, and I blew up again. I realized that I am not yet able to handle grains, so I eliminated them completely. My diet is no processed food (except...
  23. Hi Riv, Yes, I discovered that grains were the culprit in the terrible bloating and gas were I got after going gluten-free. I looked 8 months pregnant for about 2 months and grains (all kinds, rice, quinoa ammaranth) were the culprit. I have an occassional rice cake now (mostly air) and it doesn't cause problems. I have also eliminated dairy, cashews...
  24. If you've been constipated, you could very well have hemmoroids. They bleed sometimes during BMs. I was C for a long time and would sometimes get very large external hems, but. they can be on the inside too. Regardless, get checked out by a doctor soon. That's nothing to mess with
  25. I am trying to send a message to you regarding your posts, but your personal messenger is disabled. If you will enable it to allow pms, I have some info to share with you Janie
