  1. and you checked your meds, cosmetics, etc?
  2. I just ordered a box. They reduced the price to $23!
  3. I lived in NM for a long time. Enjoy the mexican food! Most chile colorado and chile verdes are gluten-free, just ask fi they add flour. Usually it's just pureed chiles. Ranchero sauce is almost always gluten-free. Yum, just thinking about flat enchiladas with some carne adovado is making my mouth water. Stay away from tostadas, chimichangas, sopapillas...
  4. blood tests are frequently false negative. If you choose to have an endoscopy, stay on gluten until then, otherwise the results get skewed. From what I've read, ANAs can be elevated when you have inflamation. It doens't necessartily mean a rheumatological problem. I was misdiagnosed wtih Lupus 10 years ago because of elevated ana's. It was Celiac all...
  5. 3 days for me. Make sure you are very strict, no cc and you will see a difference if this is your problem. I know it's different for everyone. Since you're sharing a kitchen, It would be easier to just stick to whole foods- plain lean meats, fruits, vegetables. There is so much chance for cc when you share a kitchen. See if that works for you. Don't...
  6. I think you are very lucky. A clueless doctor who is willing to listen to the research YOU do means he doesn't think he's GOD and really wants you to get better. I wish I had one like that. The big bummer is when you do your own research, figure out what's wrong with you, present it to your doctor and he won't do anything with it. That really bites
  7. Here's something to consider. for most of us, the reactions are MUCH MORE PRONOUNCED the longer you have been gluten-free. The gurgling you've had could be a gigantic festival of D, nausea, jittery, muscle pains, etc. I guess you have to decide if it's worth it. I will never knowlingly consume gluten again, it's just not worth it. You can use some...
  8. I got accidently glutened last night at a cocktail party. I gobbled a stuffed mushroom that looked like crab and cheese. Just as I swallowed it, I realized there were bread crumbs in it. Duh.. I've had terrible heartburn all day,but thank God that's the only reaction. My newly diagnosed 9 year old boy was given Red Vines yesterday at school and he didn...
  9. I suffered with C for 10 years. Now I take 2 probiotic capsules daily and have no problems. My son had the same experience. For us, it works better than yogurt, but we eat that daily too. Hope that helps. Also in tthe labdays before celiac disease, benefiber worked great. Check the lable though, I dont know if it's gluten-free, because we don't need...
  10. You're not alone. Most of us have had similar problems. Have the endo if you'd like, or you can just try the diet to see if you feel better. I hope you get answers soon. If it makes you feel any better, my son and I both have Celiac but BOTH our blood tests only showed abnormal high IGA serum. My little boy started the diet last Friday and has been...
  11. Wow !!! great for you and your son!!!!
  12. since he likes rice, a nice bowl of rice porridge: cook the rice past al dente, add some honey or brown sugar and almond milk. nice and comforting ;0
  13. went to the nephro today. I left the office and sat in my car and cried until my head ached. He said on that yes I do have some kidney function issues (which he never mentioned before) my kidneys are not causing the edema, neuropathy and blurry vision (all of which are symptoms of kidney disease on the Kidney Foundation website. He said that if my kidneys...
  14. I am going today to see the nephro. can you please pm me and let me know what type of kidney problem you have and what treatments they have tried and made worse? I will share all I learn here!
  15. I was dx with celiac disease 4 months ago. Shortly after going gluten-free, by body went haywire. I was sick for 10 years, so I guess everything just went kaplooey on me. I developed massive edema (35 pounds in one day). My doctors kept saying they thought it was a side effect of malnutrtition called "refeeding edema." It's almost like they all had...
  16. Slow FE made me nausueous and C. Before gluten-free I had to get quarterly infusions. Now that I am healing, I can tolerate Ferrous Sulfate just fine, with no ill effects. My little boy, who has a delicate tummy, can also take it with no ill effects.
  17. I really like Almond Breeze vanilla for cereal.
  18. I add a box of defrosted frozen butternut squash to macnchz. Kids love it, and the orange blends right in to the cheese, so they never know!
  19. Hmmm. I think if it were me, amd I am NOT a doctor, I would skip the endo. If there's really no proof of any kind that he has celiac disease, then let the poor baby eat what he wants. Keep a very detailed food log to see if different food items cause more reaction than others. Perhaps you can get a second opinion from another PED in your area? Sounds...
  20. So you've had him on a very strict gluten free diet for one month? If so, I am not a doctor, but I would say it's not working. Has he had the blood panel for celiac disease, or does the doc just want to go straight to the endo? If he hasn't had the blood test, do that first. Does the doc suspect it's Celiac and that's why he wants to do the endo, or...
  21. I am so sorry that you are going through this. With the bland diet, is that everything he was eating? Only those 4 things? The reason I ask is that gluten is in everything! Is it possible he was still ingesting hidden gluten? If he takes meds, did you check the ingredients?
  22. My little boy was jus I at least have diagnosed with celiac disease Friday. Thank goodness I am now an "expert" at 4 months gluten-free He is a carboholic and loves his bread. So we headed to Whle Foods to shop for him. I don't eat processed foods (except for the occassional Udis!) so we really didn't have any kid food that is gluten-free. We...
  23. I can't tolerate grains either. Ithink this is a temporary problem that will go away with healing. I can now have rice cakes, but that's it so far.
  24. I take 2 probiotic caps every morning with breakfast. Enzymes should be taken with every meal, preferably about 20 minutes before you eat, otherwise with the frist bite. Otherwise, they can't do their job. I keep a little ziploc bag in my pocket with them so I dont forget.
  25. Sorry about that. It's short for "in my humble opinion." The flu things i very controversial. I personally always get a flu shot because otherwise I get very very ill and end up hospitalized if I get it. Others here have very different opinions>
