Wolicki replied to hhdavid's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
The easiest and least expensive way to get your calcium is Tums- I buy the Wal mart brand extra strength. One tablet has 1000mg of calcium. Ther are 160 in a bottle and it costs about $5. -
I have never heard of any side effects from probiotics. I prefer enzymes with lots of lipase, because that helps digest fats. I can tolerate a bit of dairy now, but I always take an enzyme with nut butter, salads and dairy. n the probiotics if you don't mind the taste of the chewable, go for it. If there's a big price difference, just open a capsule...

If I am on the wrong track here, feel free to tell me to go away It seems to me that you are in complete and total denial. If you have been diagnosed with celiac disease, you have no choice but to do a life long gluten-free diet if you want to feel better. If you are lactose or casein intolerant, do not eat things with these ingredients. It will make...

ARCHIVED Was Just Diagnosed...advice Needed
Wolicki replied to hazeleyez682's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I agree with simple! STay away from the processed gluten-free stuff for a while to give your instestines a chance to heal. Simple, natural foods will also prevent some of the secondary food intolerances many of us develop, IMHO. I would also reccomend a good probiotic and enzymes to help you digest better. Stay away from processed foods and foods that... -

It's frightening isn't it? Update on my youngest: I had a talk with him last night. He has been so great since my diagnosis. When we go shopping, he points out gluten free items in the store, tells everyone that gluten is the enemy, etc., it's very cute. So last night when I picked him up from school, we went tot he vending machine, and I asked him to... -

ARCHIVED Is This Neuropathy?
Wolicki replied to Wolicki's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Quite frankly, I think it's because this stupid disease has no rhyme or reason to it! Interesting thing is that mine started about a month ago, and I went gluten-free inJuly. It's at about the same time in recovery as you! Hmmmmmm. I never had any neuropathy before gluten-free either. some have it before, some have it after. Perplexing! Did... -

Wolicki replied to Wolicki's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
THanks for the info! I am sure my doctor will not recommend anything, as none of them have any clue about Celiacs It's been quite a journey. I was dx through positive blood work and immediate response to gluten-free diet. I am really torn about the endo. I am thinking to give the diet a try and then we'll know. Our house is already 65% gluten-free... -

Wolicki replied to xEmmaa.'s topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yes, Coke and Diet Coke are gluten free It has caramel color, but from a non wheat source. Drink away! With all we have to give up, I would be seriously bummed if I could never have another one! I only have one every couple of days, but still! That would be worse than not getting birthday cake! -
