  1. The easiest and least expensive way to get your calcium is Tums- I buy the Wal mart brand extra strength. One tablet has 1000mg of calcium. Ther are 160 in a bottle and it costs about $5.
  2. I have never heard of any side effects from probiotics. I prefer enzymes with lots of lipase, because that helps digest fats. I can tolerate a bit of dairy now, but I always take an enzyme with nut butter, salads and dairy. n the probiotics if you don't mind the taste of the chewable, go for it. If there's a big price difference, just open a capsule...
  3. If I am on the wrong track here, feel free to tell me to go away It seems to me that you are in complete and total denial. If you have been diagnosed with celiac disease, you have no choice but to do a life long gluten-free diet if you want to feel better. If you are lactose or casein intolerant, do not eat things with these ingredients. It will make...
  4. I I had a similar problem a few years ag before gluten-free. Turned out I had a massive fungal infection of most of my body, including GI tract, diagnosed with endoscopy. That explained the frequent yeast infections that came back any time we wer intimate I took Diflucan for 2 months and it went away. You might want to get check d for that.
  5. I had the same problem with peanut and almond butter in the beginning. It's now been 4 months, and I can tolerate both PB and A butter Yay!! I am still leery, though, so I take 2 enzymes with lots of lipase when I eat it and no problem NextQuick Access Insert: Center Insert: Topic Link Insert: Post Link Insert: CODEBOX ...
  6. I agree with simple! STay away from the processed gluten-free stuff for a while to give your instestines a chance to heal. Simple, natural foods will also prevent some of the secondary food intolerances many of us develop, IMHO. I would also reccomend a good probiotic and enzymes to help you digest better. Stay away from processed foods and foods that...
  7. So, none of my doctors know much about this- I am sure many of you are familiar with this particular frustration. After 10 years of being misdiagnosed, I am finally getting better I am certain that their are some vitamin/mineral deficiencies I have due to malabsorption. Can someone please post a COMPLETE list of blood tests that should be run upon diagnosis...
  8. It's frightening isn't it? Update on my youngest: I had a talk with him last night. He has been so great since my diagnosis. When we go shopping, he points out gluten free items in the store, tells everyone that gluten is the enemy, etc., it's very cute. So last night when I picked him up from school, we went tot he vending machine, and I asked him to...
  9. I paid $7 per loaf on special order. I am not sure what Udi's charges for shipping, but I am sure you can do the math Keep in mind I am in Orange County, the land of high prices.
  10. How about Emergen-C? It's bufferred vitamin c with magnesium and potassium- in th vitamin or cold section at the drug store. It's a little packet you mix in your water. Comes in a variety of flavors.
  11. Drink lots and lots of water, no processed foods, fresh fruits and veg- keep your diet as clean as possible. i think that helps ger over a glutening faster. Feel better!
  12. I special ordered it through WF too. About a month ago, the mgr emailed me and said that all WF will be carrying Udis' as a regular product in the very near future. Whoopee I just learned today my son is Celiac and he likes Udi's products, so whew!
  13. I've been to the one in Irvine, CA. their burgers are the bomb I've found them to been very accomodating, just don't go right at noon because they are super busy and would be a higher risk of CC. Bon apetit!
  14. Thanks for the support
  15. Quite frankly, I think it's because this stupid disease has no rhyme or reason to it! Interesting thing is that mine started about a month ago, and I went gluten-free inJuly. It's at about the same time in recovery as you! Hmmmmmm. I never had any neuropathy before gluten-free either. some have it before, some have it after. Perplexing! Did...
  16. THanks for the info! I am sure my doctor will not recommend anything, as none of them have any clue about Celiacs It's been quite a journey. I was dx through positive blood work and immediate response to gluten-free diet. I am really torn about the endo. I am thinking to give the diet a try and then we'll know. Our house is already 65% gluten-free...
  17. Udis IS the Wonderbread! That's why I like it so much:) It's processed in a dedicated facility, so no issue with CC. Enjoy!!
  18. Hi all, I was dx in June with Celiacs. I suspected my youngest may be as well, because of minor GI symptoms. I got their test results back today. My 12 year old had no positives, but my 9 year old had positive Gliadin IgG Antibodies of 38.3 (ref range >10 positive. Transglutimase and Enodmysial antbodies negative, IgA negative. He is also low Ferritin...
  19. Eric I have 14 of those 20 symptoms! I am going out to find some Candex today! Your symptoms relieved immediatlly? I am guessing health food store? So you are avaoiding sugar and starch? Wow thanks so much!
  20. I have the same problem with rice and ALL grains and corn. I also cannot tolerate any processed foods. I can tolerate rice cakes, which have become my go to snack- I like the plain lightly salted, and I add cream cheese honey and sliced almonds, or peanut butter, or apple butter. String cheese, yogurt in those little prepacked contatiners. If you...
  21. That's exactly me! Never cared for it before then wham! PB was my best friend. Give me a spoon and a jar and two days and...... NOw I only have it once a week or so or I would be as big as the side of a barn!
  22. Wow, thank you for posting! I am so glad your are feeling better! Please do post your complete list of symptoms that have gone away. I've got some weird ones, maybe this will help me!
  23. Yes, Coke and Diet Coke are gluten free It has caramel color, but from a non wheat source. Drink away! With all we have to give up, I would be seriously bummed if I could never have another one! I only have one every couple of days, but still! That would be worse than not getting birthday cake!
  24. I am a little over 3 months gluten free, and started having neuropathy about a month ago. My b12 is around 575, and I take Suber B Complex plus sublingual b12 twice a day. My blood sugar is 79 or 80 no matter if I am fasting, or had a meal within 30 minutes or two hours, never changes. Is this just something that happens with Celiac? My chiro suggested...
