  1. I have been gluten free for nine months ( I mention this as it isn't much longer than yourself) and have the same problems with sleep. When I do sleep I have terrible scary dreams about people stalking me and/or trying to kill me, which pretty much means that the sleep I get isn't the deep kind that your body needs. My doc just put me on Kava Kava and 5-HTP...

    ARCHIVED Go Ask Connie

Gotta jump in again. I have a pit bull. I understand your concern about them jumping out and attacking your dog. The desire to attack other dogs, especially those of the same sex was breed into them and it will take years to breed it back out. But I can tell you, that being a responsible Pit owner, and living in a neighborhood with other dog owners who are...

    ARCHIVED Go Ask Connie

    1. the part you wrote about dragging your vacuum out to the middle of the floor and then sitting on the sofa staring at it....made me laugh out loud...I was like..did I write this???? I don't remember writing this...but then again I do lose time so maybe I did...I had to check to see who posted this...point being...it gave a great laugh on a day when I really...

Love, Cathy my favorite conversation that occurs at least once a week.... co-worker: wow, you always have the best lunches. I thought you couldn't eat wheat. me: there is no wheat in here, I made all this myself co-worker...
  5. My blood test was negative as well. I had a biopsy, he was looking for irritable bowel or something and that's how he found the Celiac. I insisted on the biopsy and thank god I did or it never would have been found.
  6. Burger King commercials! Well, Burger King in general grosses me out. But those commercials where they show the guy dressed up as the king in that weird looking mask scaring the crap out of people..that is the commercial nightmares are made of.
  7. Why is it that watching Angela Lansbury solve ridiculous murders make me feel better? Is this an unhealthy obsession? I have been home sick for the last 6 days and have watched 4 seasons in their entirety. Back to work tomorrow...I will miss you Jessica Fletcher!
  8. My heart's like an open book For the whole world to read Sometimes nothing-keeps me together At the seams

  9. It's not the Gluten that's been making me ill...I hope to find it's Grave's Disease. It seems the symptoms I have been having mask those of being glutened, but I know it's not Gluten. My home and my dog are both completely gluten free (except his Mr. Pugsly's Peanut Butter Dog Biscuits which I ALWAYS wash my hands after giving him some). There is no possible...
  10. SIGN UP FOR FMLA NOW!! Being the queen of FMLA myself, I really must insist! This is the only TRUE way to protect yourself. Write -ups do not protect you! Depending on how your office works you may have to have multiple sessions of FMLA. Also, you can get it backdated to cover the day you were out this week and make your write up disappear, but you...
  11. My brother, who when I first told him of my Celiac Diagnosis, said it was all in my head..sent me this article..is this the start of something good? Open Original Shared Link
  12. This didn't even happen to me and it totally made my day!! We don't have Red Lobster's here in Maine, but if we did, I would eat there every night on account of that manager! Thanks for sharing!
  13. So, I have been keeping a food journal...and so far the only trend I have found occurs around "that time of the month"! I cook my own food..lately it's been a lot of modified Chinese, Indian, and what I lovely refer to as my own little pizza bits. (Thank you the Chebe's bread mix that allows me to make such a delicious concoction!) In my food journal...
  14. For years of my life I was ANGRY..... I was impossible to be around..to the extent that I couldn't even stand to be around myself. I was MANIC....I would get home from work at a little past 5 and start cleaning, too many times to count, the next thing I would remember is scrubbing grout in my bathroom at 2am, all the time between 5pm and 2am completely erased...
  15. I bought some of the Amy's frozen dinners a few weeks ago at Walmart. She has the ones that are "gluten free" then the ones with "no gluten ingredients" since the "gluten free" ones say on the box that they are processed in a facility that contains wheat and I never had a reaction to them, I figured the "no gluten ingredients" would be ok to......WRONG....
  16. I'm back..safe and sound....had a GREAT time and super glad I went
  17. Today, I embark on a new Celaic milestone. I am headed over to a friends house for the first BBQ since my diagnosis. She has been inviting me all summer and I am so untrusting I always come up with some excuse not to go. But today...is her last one since she is moving and I have run out of excuses. So, as I pack up two hamburgers, my own bun, utensils...
  18. My doctor said.."My wife and I had a few friends over the other night, we were sitting around drinking beer, and I brought up my 'Celiac Patient' (meaning me)...next thing I knew, we had spent hours talking about how much that would suck." Really?
  19. Why do fools fall in love? why do birds sing so gay? And lovers await the break of day Why do they fall in love? Why is it that the only man I can find to feel as though I am truly in love with have to be married? When ever I think about my life sucking...it will never be worse then his...he is married, his wife bought her own house and moved out,...
  20. Domino's in Australia offers Gluten Free Crust for their pizza! So you can have your Pizza and eat it too!! My friend and I have seriously considered moving to Australia due to the Gluten Free pizza at Dominos!
  21. I think I just need to chalk this up to a bad week! I do know what you are saying Sand Surf about the fact that I should feel better after 10 months of being gluten free, and honestly for the most part I do. As far as this week is concerned, my doctor seems to think it is the stress I am under...or maybe I should say the stress that I create myself......
  22. Somewhere on the internet I found where you could print off a discription of your illness and allergy in all different languages. Open Original Shared Link they are free to print off at this website. print some off and bring them with you so you aren't trying to overcome any language barrier! AND.....have an awesome time!!
  23. I am still not feeling better today. It started off with cramps for no reason. I over slept. I wanted to call out sick, but knew I couldn't. I found out I was over booked on my vacation time and I am going on a cruise and need the days I have scheduled..how the hell am I going to get out of that??? A girl got fired, and being chief steward, it fell to...
  24. I feel like I am completely falling apart. I have been gluten free for 10 months...I am tired of cooking everything I put into my mouth. I am tired of reading the labels of everything I eat. I am tired of not being able to eat at the Olive Garden. I am tired of spending a week cooking so I can go visit my nieces for two days and not have to worry about...
  25. My first gluten free Christmas was only three months after my diagnosis. My best friend asked me what I wanted for a gift and I told her some of the Bob's Red Mill gluten free baking mixes. Christmas night rolls around and she presents me with a shoe box full of goodies...brownie mix, corn bread mix....and a bag of high gluten flour..doh..I guess it's used...
