ARCHIVED Planter's Trail Mix
judy05 posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I've been glutened at least twice by Planter's Trail Mix. I looked at the ingredients and could not find any wheat (except for one that I didn't eat). Am I missing something? I thought I read on one of the list that they are gluten free. Please help, I have terrible pain in my right knee which usually means I have had some hidden gluten. Thanks... -
ARCHIVED Abdominal Tension
judy05 replied to GravStars's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't have the same problems but I can relate to the constipation. My GI doc recommended taking Citracel Fiber pills. They are gluten free and have taken away my right -sided pain. He says I have a lot of gas in my intestines and this really relieves it. Hope you feel better. -
You may be dehydrated and that could be causing the skipped beats. My son had that and went thru all kinds of tests, the only thing the cardiologist could come up with was dehydration. He's doing much better.

In the beginning I still had a lot of symptoms which continued until I gave up dairy. 3 years later I still can't do dairy and I'm sure I have an intolerance to corn, but this is hard for me to give up but I think I will have to to get better.

ARCHIVED New Here- My Story And Concerns
judy05 replied to WorshipfulHeart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Hi Angela, So glad your daughter is improving. I've been gluten-free/Cf for 3 years and have noticed much improvement. I still have some issues but I am working on those. I know Dove products are gluten-free and I use Garnier Fructis shampoo. My scalp itched for a long time and I couldn't figure out why until I read the ingredients on my expensive Nexxus... -

ARCHIVED Some Symptoms Diseapering
judy05 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi Lister, glad to hear you are feeling better. I think you need to "chill out", if you are gluten intolerant it takes a while to get all of the gluten out of your system. It took me several months but I had been sick for a long, long time. Are you keeping a food diary? It helps to look back when you react to something. It usually only takes a few minures... -
Hi, I have had severe reactions to gluten after being in the dentist office. It leaves me sick for several days with "brain fog". The last time I had it I couldn't write out the check to pay for my visit and my husband had to almost carry me out of the office. I had been fine when I went in. The dentist said he had a few Celiac patients, but when he asked...

ARCHIVED Ugh I Feel Glutened Again
judy05 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Lister, I've been reading your posts and I can identify with a lot of your symptoms. I had a lot of stomach pain and bloating in the beginning. Along with gluten intolerance I also suffer from IBS. I had no damage to my villi so the doctor suggested more fiber. He recommended Citracel tabs 2 in the morning (they are gluten-free). After my colonoscopy... -
ARCHIVED The End Of The Road
judy05 replied to Lister's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You need to see the doctor to get medication for anxiety. Don't start selling your possessions, you are under stress and not thinking clearly. The medical bills can wait. I don't know if you are religious but a lot of churches will assist people who need help, especially if you need food. My husband said when he was a young boy and very poor his mother would... -
ARCHIVED I Just Started gluten-free Diet - Is It Normal To Have...
judy05 replied to Mabc's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think everyone feels a little worse in the beginning, I know I did. It took a whole summer for me. I lived on plain chicken, pork chops, mashed potatoes, applesauce, and bananas. It takes a while to get the gluten out of your system. For me giving up dairy made all the difference. It was almost a year to feel really good. It all depends on how long you... -
I also had this when they did my scope. It looked so gross. I had eaten peanut butter before I stopped eating the night before. He said my stomach was emptying too slow, but he didn't seem overly concerned about it. I had been taking Nulev to slow down the spasms which were causing severe pain. I was never diagnosed with Celiac (don't have the gene) but I...

ARCHIVED Irregular Heartbeat
judy05 replied to slpinsd's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My son used to have this. The cardiologist told my son that it was he was dehydrated, after having many tests done. After treating the dehydration he doesn't complain anymore. Hope this helps. -
I wanted to try Schwans Foods because we are moving deeper into the country and further from supermarkets and these people deliver. I just wondered if anyone has used their foods? I did go on their web site, they don't have a gluten-free list but you can read the labels. Has anyone experienced any cross contamination? I appreciate your input.

My brain fog is still here but less pronounced. I sometimes have to check my blood sugar, it is the same feeling as being hypoglycemic. I feeled "spaced out". Physically I feel like I am walking in a "gray fog", I usually have to lie down for a while. My migraines aren't bothering me much anymore but I used to get scared and felt like I wasn't ever going...

ARCHIVED Joint Pain
judy05 replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Hi, I have been gluten free for 3 years. 2 weeks ago I developed hip and leg pains, went to Dr who had no idea, said maybe I was developing arthritis. I can't take any NSAIDs so I posted a message on here and got what I think is the answer to my problem. We are remodeling a house using drywall and paint. To help move things along I was sweeping up the... -
I was wondering if anyone has any documentation about the problem with the drywall mud and dust. I can't figure out why it is affecting my legs and not my digestive system. I would like to read about it and also give something to my MD.

Who's Celiac Was Triggered By Gallbladder Removal?
judy05 replied to shellbean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm past menopause so I can't relate to that. I do know that when I was pregnant I vomited every day for 9months. i only gained 14 pounds and my little girl weighed in at ten pounds, had a lot of heartburn too, it now makes sense to me. We're all still learning, I just learned tonight that drywall paste and dust are not gluten free and I have been making... -
Thsi is totally unacceptable, I think I would notify the AMA or the state board of licensing, no one should be treated this way.

ARCHIVED Does Glutening Bring On Reflux Flare-ups?
judy05 replied to megsylvan2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Acid reflux is often one of the first symptoms which occurs with Celiac. Anyone with severe heartburn should be "scoped", that's how I found out I have Barrett's Ring in my esophagus which can lead to cancer. I have to be biopsied every 3 years, after having 2 negatives. -
I found that doing exercises helped me. I started out doing 4-5 minutes on the treadmill or bicycle. This has helped me get my blood sugar under control, I lost a few pounds and began to feel stronger. I gradually worked up to 30-45 minutes. Don't let him overdo in the beginning. There is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Who's Celiac Was Triggered By Gallbladder Removal?
judy05 replied to shellbean's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My symptoms were triggered by thyroid surgery in 2000. I had pain in my gallbladder area and my dr said it had to come out. When I saw the surgeon he did a HIDA scan and it showed that the GB was normal. My GI doc encouraged me to go on a gluten-free diet which helped but the pain continued. He treated me with Fiber Pills (Citracel) and said the pain was... -
Dear Ravenwoodglass, I wish you could know how a felt when I read your answer, it was like a bolt of lightening. You have made my day. I have been working with drywall, sweeping up the floor after the painters finished a room. Everyday I have had to wash my hair because it was stiff with dust. I never knew this. May God bless you for letting me know. The...

Thanks to all who have responded to this, I will try all of your suggestions. Just wanted to let you know that I am feeling a little better today but it still hurts. It's hard to find foods to eat when you have so many intolerances. The York test said to try to eat these foods one by one every 4 days and that is what I did in the past, but being busier I...
