  1. I use almond milk too. And I love it on warm brown rice, with a chopped up banana, some nuts, some sesame seeds, some cinnamon, and some pure maple syrup!!! and sometimes raisins! I eat this instead of cereal. I'm going to try quinoa and see if that's any good this way.
  2. I'm only a little into this new gluten free diet, and my hands used to hurt just a little here and there like when opening a jar or a prescription bottle. and that has only gone on for about a month or two. but now, all the sudden my hands hurt REALLY BAD, and they feel like they are partly asleep too, not tingly but more numb and swollen like. and ALL...
  3. I called Colgate TODAY and was told they can't guarantee ANY of their products are gluten-free because they are manufactured all over the place in different facilities, and they have no idea about what might happen during the manufacturing process, tho they don't add gluten to anything. So I'm giving up my toothpaste, and probably my much loved Palmolive...
  4. I had some blood tests run this morning and my doctor called to say my iron is low, that I dont have enough iron in my blood and something else I can't remember. the other tests aren't done yet. but my iron level was 37 with 50-170 being normal I guess. She said I need iron supplements. Is this normal with celiac disease, and are there any iron supplements...
  5. I called them about my favorite jarred peaches, the Orchard Select cling peaches, I love those!! Well they are gluten free, and they offered to send me a list of their other gluten free products, so I will post that when I get it!
  6. Sure, here is what they said: preheat oven to 325. spray or grease glass pie dish 9 to 10 inches in size. prepare filling according to recipe on can of pumpkin. bake until knife comes out clean, 50-60 minutes. cool on wire rack 2 hours.
  7. I just called them to make sure their canned pumpkin is made in a gluten free facility! Not only did they tell me that it was, and that all their products would be labeled if made in a facility with allergens, but they offered to send me coupons AND recipes for gluten free things made with their products! AND, they told me over the phone how to make the...
  8. Whoa! Public school is certainly not the place I would send my child to learn to navigate the world with this condition! Please be careful with comments like these. Homeschooling is awesome, and produces well-rounded intelligent children who are perfectly capable of "navigating the world", and with more than just other kids their exact same age too! I...
  9. I dont know where that last quote came from but I just called lubriderm myself this WEEK and was told they cannot guarantee their product is gluten free. I posted this on another part of the board too under something like calls I've made this week. I had called specifically about the sensitive skin lotion, but I believe they said ANY of their products could...
  10. As for Outback, I have been to 2 different ones this week because we are traveling. I didn't have a good experience at either one. One was in Wyoming and one was in Castle Rock, CO. As I posted elsewhere on this board, the one in Wyoming brought me a salad made in it's own bowl and super safe, and halfway thru it I found a crouton. Then the one in Castle...
  11. Here was my experience. I'm currently traveling and when I get home I doubt I'll go out to eat again for a LONG time. Anyway, I went to this place specifically because they have gluten free pizza. I ordered a gluten free pizza with sausage. I asked if the sausage was gluten free and was told yes, it is, and we are VERY careful, we even make the pizza...

    ARCHIVED Chipotle's

I ate at a Chipotle this week, and honestly that was the ONLY place I've eaten on this entire trip where I didn't feel poisoned afterwards. I explained I have celiac disease, and they told me all the things that were okay. They then had EVERYONE change their gloves, and they changed the utensils in every bin. They then suggested that since they dip their...
  13. Hunts tomato sauce-gluten free Rosarita refried beans-couldn't guarantee the distilled vinegar Tylenol-the arthrities extended release caplets are gluten free Motrin-couldn't guarantee gluten free, said the don't ADD gluten but it hasn't been tested Jimmy Dean-said the label would say it if it was in there, they dont hide in under spices CORN...
  14. specifically about deodorant, but got information about ALL of their products. I know I have read on this board that Suave was a good source for gluten free. This is exactly what I was told today... "we get our fragrance as a finished product so we dont necessarily test that and we dont really have any way of knowing what is in that. the other ingredient...
  15. I have a hard time believing that a company like General Mills is putting out product with mold growing on it. Perhaps its happening in your own storage or something? I have purchased chex my entire life and I have never one time seen mold growing in anything ever, so it's very odd that you would have found it, and more than once. I also think that people...
  16. As you know, I had some trouble even getting MY results read, but now I have my son's in hand and the pediatrician is not sure what they mean. She is referring us to a pediatric gastroenterologist, but we have to go to another state and it may take 2 to 3 months to get an appt. So I intend to research as much as I can on my own and possible see if anyone...
  17. If anyone has any advice I'd greatly appreciate it. I'm on my way to Colorado and am in Wyoming now. We had to leave somewhat abruptly and I brought a few things with me but not nearly enough to make 3 meals a day. I will be staying with family for 5 nights and traveling 2 more, besides today and tomorrow! For lunch I ordered pintos at taco bell, apparently...
  18. Thanks you guys. I'm going to try eating more simply. I think it was either hte chocolate or the sausage that caused last nights reaction, because I felt so bad all the sudden. I know I'm not healed yet or even started. But at least the constant bloating had been somewhat better until after dinner last night. And I didn't sleep well last night and woke...
  19. I was JUST going to see if that might work I will try it for sure. We all love pinto beans and my kids loves burritos. By the way I am so sorry to read about your twin brother. That must have been extremely hard for you. Of course no words I can offer will make any difference but I wanted to just say I'm sorry.
  20. Thank you. I often make my own pintos in a crock pot with dried beans, chicken broth, and seasonings and they are VERY good, so I guess I'll just have to get into the habit of doing this more often. But, I used to use rosarita a lot when I was in a hurry. I guess those days are over.
  21. I need a new plan. Yesterday I felt okay, better than usual. Now tonight my stomach is stickin WAY out and it's making all this NOISE, and I feel like I need to burp and I can't, and I have gas, my hands are itchin to death, my nose is stuffed up, and I'm sneezing! What ????? I was fine until after dinner. For dinner I had Johnsonville Hot Italian Sausage...
  22. when my stepmom found out I have celiac disease, she said, "so, what kind of bread CAN you have, just french and italian?" I have NO idea where she got that idea, but I'm thinking she figured white bread was okay and not wheat bread, lol. my dad said "maybe I could do that diet, I can just order my hamburger and then throw out the bun right?" of course...
  23. I went to Costco today and got Veggie Crisps, Riceworks, Crunchmaster rice crackers, Nutella chocolate hazelnut spread, and Kirkland pure maple syrup. The Riceworks are really good dipped in the hummus I made yesterday! Haven't tried the other things yet.
  24. Does anyone eat them?? I called and was told the distilled vinegar that is in them can come from wheat OR corn, and that the distilling process should remove the gluten, but they can't call them gluten free because of that, and also that it is in all their varieties. So, are they safe or not safe??
  25. Thanks Roda. So, I should get my iron levels checked probably and some other vitamins. I wonder if there's anything else I'm missing. I want to make sure I start feeling better as soon as possible.
