ARCHIVED Starting Weight Watchers!
Kathleen Smith replied to wakorb89's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi! I was diagnosed last April 2009 with Celiac. Made my mistakes the first few months (like alot of people), then got it together by Septemebr. I too, did weight watchers previously (about 6 years ago) and lost 25 pounds (almost goal weight). Then each year the weight gradually increased. Then when I went gluten free in April 2009, I gained a quick... -

Kathleen Smith replied to Kathleen Smith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hi Everyone, I just wanted to give an update. I am in week 5 of Weight Watchers (going into week 6) and I have lost 9 pounds (plus I get weighed today). It is going well. Its a rough start in the begining but it really feels great to not be so obsessed with food. I think I became a little obsessed once I was diagnosed with Celiac last April. ... -

ARCHIVED How Can Getting Glutened Once Cause Months Worth Of Symptoms?
Kathleen Smith replied to srthomas21's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I first went gluten free April 2009. I honetly thought I was eating gluten free for the first four months. But I wasnt. I had some hidden gluten in my dressing, my rice cakes, my seasonings. I didnt know it then. I think your first few months are a serious learning curve. I was feeling so much better than previous I really thought I was doing a good... -

ARCHIVED Fell Off The Weight Loss Wagon
Kathleen Smith replied to Roda's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I just started weight watchers last week, right before the holidays which some think is stupid. Dont beat yourself up about "falling off the wagon", everyone does. Each day is a new day to try it again. Getting rid of gluten was a process and so is weight loss. Just try to make the best decisions you can when it comes to food. Think to yourself, "is... -
ARCHIVED Why The Weight Gain?
Kathleen Smith replied to NOLA-girl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I also gained weight after going gluten free, almost 10 pounds. The whole time I was exercising too. Nothing crazy, my usual 3-4 days a week for approx. an hour (cardio and weights). I recenently joined weight watchers (get weighed tomorrow for first week) and what I noticed is that I was overeating. I really didnt think I was because everything I ate... -
ARCHIVED Wondering About Weight Issues
Kathleen Smith replied to Kathleen Smith's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Thank you all for the posts, it really, really made me feel better. One day at time. I am very happy to just know I have celiac and to be feeling better. Once you feel better about one thing, you want to fix it all right away and I guess it takes time. I am going to join Weight Watchers next week, just to get some perspective and see how that goes. Thanks... -

Kathleen Smith posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Hello Everyone I am going to make my first Carrot Cake ever. Gluten Free. I am not a very good "baker" but I am going to give it a practice run this weekend for a potential thanksgiving day dessert. It is either Apple Crisp or Carrot Cake. I have the gluten free flour but are the following things gluten free or do I need to seek out a substitute... -
Hello All, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 years ago (or more). I was put on Paxil and gained about 20-25 pounds over a couple years. Now, maybe because I was getting older (I'm 34 now), maybe b/c Paxil is notorious for weight gain (but i didnt know that then, nor did doctors). I have always been a "gym" person. Nothing crazy but...

ARCHIVED What Do You Eat At These Types Of Places?
Kathleen Smith replied to foodiegurl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Dada, I am that sensitive to Gluten. I was sick for two months for "Cheating" in August, okay, I get that and learned my lesson. For two months I was strict and only started to feel better by 8th or 9th week (my symtom was chronic nausea). It was recently my birthday so my co-workers took me out to a gluten free resturaunt. I ordered off the gluten-free... -
Does anyone take probiotics? And if so, has it helped and can you suggest a gluten free brand for me to try? I was diagnosed in April and went Gluten Free until August. Then I cheated and was sick for two months! Had all kinds of tests and just felt horribly nauseous everytday, all day. I posted on this site and everyone was so helpful and supportive...

Hi Tiki, I live at the Jersey Shore and I go to Shore Gastro in Oakhurst. She was good at diagnosing it. But I am still having trouble. Feel nauseous ALL the time. I had more blood and ultrasound done by them and that was normal. So she put me on prilosec, which I have since stopped. I am to go back in Novemeber about the nausea. I am actually trying...

ARCHIVED Eating Gluten Free And Nauseous Everyday, Advice!

Thank everone has been so helpful. I am officially in what I like to call "Phase 2" of this eating gluten free process. The first part, you learn the basic, then you make mistakes and take it a step further (Phase 2) to learn of hidden gluten and other intolerences. I thank you all so much for helping me in this process. I wanted to throw this out... -

ARCHIVED Eating Gluten Free And Nauseous Everyday, Advice!
Kathleen Smith replied to Kathleen Smith's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info. Apparently my gallbladder is fine, but I will bring it up again at the Doc in November. I am just still hoping that; with time, I will feel good eating gluten free and not bad all the time. I am committed and hopeful but in the back of my mind wish it would start getting better already. You find out you have Celiac and start... -
Hi Everyone! I was seeking advice and suggestions from you all. I was diagnosed about 6 months with Celiac. I had been eating gluten free as much as I knew. I thought I was doing well (turns out, in the begining I had accidently had gluten, althought not much). I was really feeling good. No more bloating/stomach cramps and to my surpise my migraines...

Hello Everyone! I was diagnosed with celiac disease about six months ago or so. I was doing well. I felt a lot better right away. Then in August I messed up a number of times by eating out. Now I have been very strict. Although still a learning curve with hidden gluten/cross contamination. My number went from 37 to 10. My thing is I have been getting...
