  1. I'm in community college and live by myself, so for me the problem isn't having to explain things to roommates it's finding the time to take care of myself. I work full time (plus overtime when required) and until right before my endoscopy I was in school full time. Now it's 3/4, since i just dropped a class that I really need but couldn't focus on because...
  2. The low iron would make sense, especially considering the timing...
  3. I've noticed some extra hunger but nothing that's kept me up at night. I usually eat several small meals throughout the day at the advice of the nutritionist. I'll try adding something closer to bedtime.
  4. Yep, exactly. It's not so bad some days but today it's bad. The bad kind that makes me feel a bit panicked about it. For a time I thought it was related to seasonal allergies, and thought that Singulair had an effect. I stopped it for a while and now that I'm on it again it doesn't help (though it does help my allergies otherwise).
  5. My GI said he didn't think it was related, but I'm not convinced. When I was 19 I started noticing that I was often having to take deep breaths to feel like I was getting any air. Now at 25 I feel it all the time, every day, and it's more like I have to sigh or yawn in order to feel like my lungs are getting what they need. I know that I'm not suffocating...
  6. That's the truth. To be honest I'm not 100% sure I ever want to have kids but I'd rather have the option than not. The more I think about it the more it scares the bajeezus out of me and adding this on top just made it scarier.
  7. Thanks Open Original Shared Link
  8. After reading the signatures of various parents here, I'm starting to worry about having kids. It seems like so many celiac parents have kids who are positive for it and have a dozen other allergies and various health problems. Am I wrong? Please tell me I'm wrong.
  9. Redbridge (by Anheuser-Busch) is made without wheat. I just had it for the first time last night and I give it two enthusiastically drunk thumbs up. "Redbridge is made without wheat or barley, so the approximately 3.2 million consumers who are unable to drink beer made with barley due to Celiac Disease or because they follow a wheat-free or gluten-free...
  10. I've never had issues with sleep in the past (unless I was particularly stressed about something, then I might lay awake for an hour) but since going gluten free a couple of weeks ago I've been having trouble every single night. I'm having trouble getting to sleep then staying that way (but part of that is my cats who prefer my bedroom for their mischief...
  11. I've been wondering about the cross contamination also. My nutritionist told me about a cereal that was supposed to be gluten free (was even on the box) but on the list of ingredients it said it was produced in a facility that makes wheat products so i kept away from it. I've been keeping "normal" food here for my boyfriend so i guess I need to start segregating...
  12. Well this is an old old old topic but I'm also in Austin. The only other person I know that is gluten-free is an exboyfriend's new girlfriend. Not too keen on shopping trips with her.
  13. Hey I'll take anything! I glanced for 3 seconds at one of those links and already found something I can use, thanks!
  14. I never knew celiac could be the cause of so many things. Sheesh! Maybe I'll stop looking like a sleep-deprived zombie now.
  15. My doctor and his PA are fantastic. Glenn Robinson Austin, Tx 512-244-2273
  16. I'm curious about the same thing. I've always had dark circles under my eyes. I try to cover it with makeup but they always show through.
  17. I was looking for coupons for some gluten-free products. I found befreeforme.com, has anyone used it? I'm hesitant to sign up for newsletters with the hopes of getting coupons. Any other places I can find coupons? I was looking specifically for Udi's but didn't find any.
  18. I guess something changed because the Corn Chex and Cinnamon Chex in my pantry both say gluten-free on the box. Thank god, cause corn chex was one of my favorite cereals.
  19. Awww good to know! I love the steamable bags
  20. All I can say is don't buy what I'm having for lunch right now because it's disgusting. Food for Life rice bread.. ugh. It's hard and crumbly and all over a bad bad bad purchase. Udi's ftw. Can Whole Foods special order it for you, or do they need a local distributor to get it?
  21. My employer does offer it but I'd have to give up my PPO insurance. It's no big deal though. I'll just put in extra hours, grin and bear it. Adjustments have to be made somewhere.
  22. Hmm.. Do you mean a flexible spending account?
  23. Just wanted to introduce myself since I've been lurking around a little bit. I tested positive for celiac sprue about two weeks ago after an endoscopy. I did the blood work but haven't heard the results yet, expecting it'll be the same. I'm 25 and have experienced serious stomach pain and abdominal expansion/bloating since I was 17 or so (that's when I noticed...
