  1. OH THANK YOU SOOO MUCH!!!! I had a pea salad on friday and didn't think I got glutened from the sour cream - it was the HAM! Oh was that terrible! I'm remaking the salad with the 'safe' stuff and also my mom is making it for a church luncheon to accommodate the gluten free attendants. Now I can have my baked potatoes with bacon and onion and daisy sour...
  2. I searched for this answer and think they were dated. Sour Cream is the one thing I avoid because I haven't researched it and had found modified food starch on a label. I would like to start using it on baked potatoes but......... Can someone tell me of name brands that I can feel safe about? Do you have a confirmation letter to share? I can't find the...
  3. I haven't a clue! But hey - I got a little of what I was fishing for.....I am hoping for the lightening up and elimination of the clotting (it's a strange feeling when they pass by a tampon - like I wet myself!) I have stopped getting the emotional part of it a long time ago - but I do get back cramps and a sharp pain in the lower abdomen that tells me...
  4. Good to know! I'll cross that off of my list.......once it dries! Just spilled my coffee all over it! Man, although I'm pulling thru......I still have the mishaps. Feel stiff and weak after nap....then realized I've only had a bowl of corn chex today. Time to make something.
  5. Shopping trip wasn't exactly what I expected - sampled ginger snaps but they didn't know which aisle I was going to find them in (since I notice they scatter them at Meijers too). I did however, get a list of the Meijers products that are gluten-free so I stuck to that list plus the mealbox coupons and added mfg coupons for more $$ off my purchase (was able...
  6. I guess I'm still learning the forum.......I'll try to find it
  7. UPDATE! I got glutened! and man did my back and shoulder hurt! The back pain feels like cramps before a period but only they sting a little more. The shoulder and neck were my first clue that I got glutened (after 11 days!) and I got furious. I layed in bed and couldn't sleep while the pain was like experiencing a flu. Started feeling a pressure and...
  8. I'm curious if gluten intolerance, allergy, or celiacs has anything to do menstruation. Mine are heavy with large clots and I wonder if this is common with this disorder. I'm not sure when my next is to be as I've been becoming irregular this last year. Sometimes 2 light ones and sometimes 1 heavy one or I start later than my normal cycle - but the same...
  9. My palms were itchy and dry before I went gluten-free - something terrible! I used lotion but I still scratched my palms to the color red and then it seemed to be between my fingers too and I was going nuts! It didn't happen all the time - mostly in spurts. Is it because I'm touching gluten products or is it coming from my insides? I don't know. Being...
  10. I can relate to the mental of it all - I need to wear a warning label to my coworkers when I feel it has happened again! I have the gurgling in my stomach - can't sleep (it's 1:13am now) - I wish I COULD have a bowel movement (it's been a couple days) - and I've managed to lose the swelling in the neck and the worst of the mood.......now I'm just feeling...
  11. I did my first no no today - I allowed a coworker to make a pea salad gluten-free for our smorgasboard of comfort foods at work today......they checked with me on the cheese and sour cream.....but not any seasonings or ham (does anyone know about ham steaks and gluten?) Anyhow - within an hour, I was feeling my neck swell a tad - more of an uncomfortable...
  12. My doctor didn't do any certain tests with me during my physical with the blood test being done the prior monday. But when I told him symptoms I was having, he put me on a gluten free diet. We didn't discuss anything about Celiac Disease or Gluten Allergy or Gluten intolerance......but it was obvious that Gluten was causing my symptoms. My neck and tongue...
  13. I agree......don't cheat yourself into misery.......you're really doing this for yourself and although the emotional rollercoaster plays tricks on you, you have to ask yorself........what's more important? If you're trying to lose weight so that you can fit into your wedding dress and look radiant! Which I'm sure you will! Then at least change your diet...
  14. I went from a size 12 to a size 18 in one year. I was just unstoppable and my eating was unstoppable too. I was just put on the gluten free diet and I'll have to say - WOW! I had hunger for about 2-3 days at first, but now I'm not even hungry - like I'm not interested! I haven't felt like that since I was a size 3/5. I hate the pregnant belly - and the...
  15. Getting used to it is really tough the first few days - I'm 9 days into it and am feeling some really odd withdrawls. Shopping took me 3-1/2 hrs reading labels - I came home and lashed out like a mad woman! Just venting but so out of character for me. I thought salads are a great choice (which I looooove!) so instead of dry salad, I looked to replace some...
  16. Thanks for checking! that sucks - any product that works the best is not my gluten-free friend. Guess I'll be checking more into the adhesives! You're awesome. Glad you're coping a bit easier too - as for me, good thing my boss is understanding to the whole gluten free deal. And I hope you are too - I didn't notice how bad my title was presented! Withdrawl...
  17. Homemaker, Thanks for putting my mind at ease. I was starting to get scared there and doubt what I've read.lol That wouldn't be uncommon with the withdrawls I'm having.......at work, I was to make labels for our material bundles going to the customer - I f'd up over 70 of them! Just like I could see what I was doing but my mind wasn't comprehending what...
  18. I just thought I'd add another product to the list I had contacted Bolthouse and inquired about any possible cross contamination with their gluten-free products - and their reply was......... Tena, Wm. Bolthouse Farms prides itself on producing the highest quality beverage products available. The purpose of the Bolthouse Farms Allergen Policy is...

  20. I did have the itchy palms before I was diagnosed. I had numbness in my mouth and nose and then tingling too. fortunately I'm not there anymore. I'm working on the withdrawl now of weak, lethargic and sleep problems. eye focus is in and out with every day and every new experience thru this gluten free new life. I'm now curious about V8.........I swear...
