  1. At the ending of last year - my shoulder felt constantly twisted and aching like I couldn't get any relief. Earlier this year, my back would 'lock up' and twist - not to be untwisted - and the pain was making me a big baby! I used the heat packs, aleeve, hot showers, and finally when I couldn't sleep because of the pain in my joints, I got out of bed and...
  2. It IS amazing the way I view food this last week. I used to have something going in my mouth all day long - even if it was grapes at my desk. I tried that again today and ....... I'd pick one every 30-45 minutes....I was done and I'd grab one anyways.....so they got put away. I do notice also (today especially) that I feel almost vertigo - or like I'm...
  3. Homemaker, I can relate to you! The emotional rollercoaster for what ever reason there is at the time is crazy! I had found that one nite I woke at 12:30 with an attack or 'being glutened' with the swelling of the neck and a twisted aching shoulder.........and after that, I craved food so bad that I ate 5 eggs and 4 slices of gluten free bread! I never...
  4. It seems I'm going up and down with moods this week (started gluten-free Oct 12) I've experienced hostile anger (having to accept this change of eating) Depression and sadness (no one gets it or is very considerate of your brand new life) Fog is gone, then comes back with tiredness Vision is clear and then out of focus again Pain comes and goes...
  5. Which Meijers?
  6. I most certainly do appreciate your help taking the 'sting' out of the hunt. I do realize the change of process is always the possibility, but to go right to it and double check could save me the time for sure. I simply love the one crackers I did find in the gluten free aisle - Healthy Gatherings Multi-Seed Crackers and they're oven baked! the cost of...
  7. Thank You! I had found some sites but then lost them during my searches. I will use these well! Thank You again.
  8. I thought it was the rum I had the other nite that caused a reaction of being glutenized - but after reading this, I wonder if it was the RC. does anyone know more about the mix than the alcohol? I switched to Ingelnook blush boxed wine without a problem (hearing boxed is safer due to flour paste seals on barrels in some wineries) But now I'm thinking...
  9. Amazing subject! I'm one week into this and I can't tell you how much I learn everytime I come to this forum! My lower back would tighten up so bad that I'd whine! alot! I shook it off as being out of shape and an old injury flaring up. But it was between the shoulder blades and the left shoulder too. I'm not experiencing this anymore - after 1 week!...
  10. I spent 3-1/2 hours blind reading labels at Meijers in Michigan for 1 small cart of groceries. I have only found a few name brand products that I can have that are gluten-free Classico pasta sauce, V8 splash and V8 veggie juice, and Newmans own select dressings for salads and Kraft shredded cheese. I ask because I can't afford to go to Harvest Health...
  11. I'm finding this subject to be very interesting And I have a question. Enzymes - I notice some foods have this in the ingredient label Are these enzymes safe? Or are the enzymes you're talking about a different type altogether? I'm only a week into this and strive to be gluten free for life regardless of the struggles and frustration. You are my mentors...
  12. OH WOW! good to know. I guess reading just beans as the ingredient isn't natural at all. I just checked my small red beans and it says they are processed here in Michigan in a coop elevator. I checked out the site and it leads me to believe that all they process in that plant is beans - not barley or wheat or rye....so I just emailed them and asked. I...
  13. The campbells cream of mushroom soup loss is a killer! I was recently getting their recipe of the day emails before I was put on the gluten-free diet. They sent me a questionaire and I gave the most honest negative responses possible when they asked why or why not. Your soup products contain gluten and I'm not interested anymore. I'm tellin ya - the NO...
  14. I have to say, I'm right there with you in the struggles and withdrawls and the frustrations and sorrow. I'm only 1 week into it and I cry over it. I feel hopeless at times struggling to find what I can and can't have. I can have fruits and vegetables in the meantime with meat and milk. I'm learning how to eat from there. Today I made my first gluten...
  15. It certainly is ironic when an animal is more of a soulmate than a fourlegged friend. Thank You deeply - I'm feeling empowered with educating myself on something I had no clue about but am finding it slammed in my face hard........and it's a rude awakening. I'm more sensitive now and always have a big heart for animals - so I'm sure I can do this again...
  16. Thank You Ravens Mum I truly was his person....and mom.....he was my child. He wouldn't heal and the other one went blind (no allergies) I just chalked it up to bad breeding from a puppy mill I appreciate your sentiments on this matter. I'm still at a loss and tell myself it was for the best. They'll always have the biggest place in my heart and...
  17. I too am new to this - 1 week I'm learning more of what to expect and why I'm going thru the changes and what it is that I'm eating that's failing me. (which in turn creates a new reaction of mood) I'm only Gluten intolerant - and I see people talk about coffee and sugar.......does this go hand in hand with gluten? Is there a different reaction when combined...
  18. I'm new to this forum - and gluten intolerance as well so I'm just learning all this gluten-free life. When my doctor gave me a physical 1week ago including blood tests (the norm) and I told him about my symptoms (holding back tears) - he put me on the gluten free diet and added vitamin D 1000 IU and B-Complex ........ I was stunned. I did a life re-evaluation...
  19. For years I was feeling this way until recently this year I went to the med center thinking I was having the onset of an asthma attack - and they found nothing......but my throat was still swelling up and then my tongue - and then my ankles..........2 weeks ago during my physical, I was put on a gluten free diet......talk about depressing! As I struggled...
  20. OMG!!!! I can't believe what I'm reading! I just put my dog down for having the skin infections that wouldn't clear up with antibiotics or shampoos. He was constantly eating at his paws too. The vet said he had allergy ears and that's it - possibly an allergy to a food.....or allergic to flea bites....but nothing else! Just kept treating him with antibiotics...
