  1. Happy birthday and may God bless you today!

  2. Hi aljf, We all do these things. It's important to take the best care of yourself that you can. I've been gluten-free since Dec. 2004, and sometimes at the beginning I would 'sneak' something which I knew had glutten. But, it really wasn't worth the pain and the worry that I was further damaging my body. So now I try not to eat anything harmful. Something...
  3. Yes Kimberley, I truly believe in the power of prayer and the healing power of God. I have been healed of asthma, which I had most of my childhood. As we wait for the LORD to heal us, we need to totally and completely stick to a gluten-free diet. If God does heal us, and that decission is His alone, then we still have to have be tested again with all the...
  4. I agree with Ajlauer. They don't deserve to have you attend. Send them that lovely card, and have a great day at home, where you'll be safe. Your health has to come before anything else. They'll just have to live with the consequenses of their selfish actions. Hang in there, and never allow anyone to jeopodise your health!
  5. I'm on 75mg of anti-depressants for anxiety/depression. I've been on them for five years, due to other side issues, as well as some of the symptoms I have with celiac disease. I think I'm better off staying on them at the moment, at least until things settle down, both with the side issues, and until I stabilise with celiac disease. I've only been gluten...
  6. I have my neice's wedding in two weeks. We HAVE to go, she is the only daughter of my brother and sister-in-law, and also the only niece/nephew at all on my side of the family. Luckily, my bro & sis-in-law know I'm a celiac and have made note of it to the chef at the reception. We're going to a Chinese restaurant the night before with by brother...
  7. Hi Meghan & SueD. Nice to have you with us. This is a great board. You'll get a lot of help and support when you need it. Sounds like you're on the right track already. Remember, we all have little accidents occasionally, and don't be down on yourself if it happens. Just start again.

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

I'll hold onto those thoughts, Steph and ianm. This past few days especially, I feel really wrung out. So I'll try and look to the future and see that light at the end of the tunnel.
  9. I've been choking a lot when I eat. I don't think it is any particular food. It seems to get stuck as I try to swallow it. I've always been a slow eater, but I am particularly slow the past couple of years. Not because of the fear of choking on food though. I just take a long while to chew and I guess I find it hard to swallow anything that's not completely...

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

Stef, thanks for that. I feel so useless at times. I've only been gluten-free since December 1st 2004, so I guess it's still very early days, and as you said, it improves. It's good to know people know what it feels like. Thanks for the encouragement.
  11. If all else fails, get a bowel d%$#@#$ kit. In other words, an enema. i've no idea how much they are outside Australia, but they are fairly cheap here...$25.00AU. approx., and they are reuseable. Needless to say, you sterilize it after use. It has helped me when I'm desperate.
  12. I'm better than I was before going gluten-free. I used to have to rock back and forth, digitally get it out , and try to get rid of a little at a time. Now, it's not so bad. I take Peratine Herbal Laxative capsules every day. That helps a lot. Plus make sure you have a lot of fruit, vegetables and as it was said before..PRUNE JUICE...it sets you free!...

    ARCHIVED Cd & Exercise

I'm finding it a real challenge to do any excercise at all. I get really short of breath, and my balance isn't good at the best of times, but if I'm tired ...when aren't I tired? ...I'm worse. My heart races all the time too. I have a faster than normal heartrate. I can't remember exactly what the rate is, but I'm over 60 beats per minute sitting down...
  14. I have black stools from taking iron. It can also cause constipation. I've always had undigested corn and nuts amongsth other things. I still have the floaties too. even after three months gluten-free. I just think it takes us a while for our systems to return to normal. It took us a while to get this sick, so it makes sense. Try not to worry too...
  15. welcome mike'speanut. This is an awesome forum with great people who are willing and available to give support and advice. We're in this together and here to help.
  16. That sure sounds like me, cdford. Quite often when I try to have a conversation with someone, I just can't get the words out that are in my head. It' all gets confused and I just end up either stumbling, stuttering (which I only do if I'm REALLY tired) or appear as if I'm stupid or something. It is really embarrassing. I'm always tired. It...
  17. I've put 1-3 months. I started on the gluten-free diet last December and in a lot of ways I am feeling a bit better. Still have a long way to go though. It's a good Poll.
  18. For me, it's not just Lay's brand chips anymore. I can't eat any brand packaged chips and I steer clear of potato as much as possible too. I haven't been able to eat potato for over a year without getting a lot of pain and bloating. Is the reaction just with Lay's or with other brands too? We can get sweet potato chips here in Oz. Maybe they're...
  19. Well I'm a bit further down south, and I don't mean Texas or Alabama! I'm DOWN UNDER but not in the Outback. Right on the Sunshine Coast of beautiful Queensland in the great land of OZ.
  20. So glad you're on the mend celiac3270. It sounds like you've been through quite an ordeal, so take it easy for a while, ok? Please keep us posted. We're looking forward to hearing about your progress toward total good health.
  21. Thankx for that info hthorvald. I do get a lot of gas, bloating etc after eating any dairy. How long would I have to go without dairy to see if it makes a difference?
  22. Hmmmm, very interesting. My sister is a schizophrenic, and she also has trouble in her gut. She recently tested negative to celiac, but I still think she may be gluten intolerant. I'm not sure how accurate the test was either. Give us an update when you find out more.
  23. I'm beginning to wonder if I'm lactose intolerant. When I had the endoscopy, the villi were 'total atrophy'. That's mean that they are totally flattened, right? Therefore, would it be reasonable for me to assume that the part of the villi which helps break down lactose is missing/damaged too?? I DO get pain when I have a lot of dairy. Cheese gives...
  24. It's a real minefield out there when we start, isn't it? I'm three months gluten-free, and I'm always missing hidden gluten and suffering for it. I ate marshmallows two weeks ago and was so disoriented...like I was drugged...I could hardly walk for a couple of days. Plus the pains came back with a vengence. I hope you feel better soon.
  25. Hi dperk. I'm not sure, but I 'm thinking that there would be some dust off the wheat straw flying about, and that may at least cause trouble if it was inhaled. We can get really sick from contact with glutenous products, such as makeup etc., so it's a good question. I'm sure there are others here who would be able to steer you right. Sorry,...
