I thought it was just how I was going to be...though it never seemed to matter what... -

glutenfreeinminnesota replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks so much! I just like to make sure I am not the only one dealing with these stupid "side effects". I will try to keep away from dairy and look into the digestive enzymes. Thanks!! -
ARCHIVED Bloating After 10 Months Of gluten-free Diet?
glutenfreeinminnesota posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed Nov of 2009 and have been on a gluten-free diet ever since. I have felt SO much better then I have in years. Well, at first I lost weight, I think because I didn't know what I could eat, so I ate a lot healthier. Now I have discovered more foods, and of course have gained weight right back. I have been glutened here and there, but have done... -
ARCHIVED More Periods Than Ever Before
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to Coolclimates's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I had the opposite "problem", I missed a period a few months after going on the gluten-free diet. I am on the pill and have never in my life missed a period. In fact, mine are always heavier then I think they should be . But I think through your body healing...it also throws things out of whack. My period eventually came back. Our bodies all cope with things... -

ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed Last Week
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to cmathews03's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hey and welcome! I will start by saying, this website is amazing and soooo helpful! I was in the same boat November 9th, 2009....so extremely happy, there's IS something wrong with me!! The pain and suffering is for a real reason, it's not just the way I am! But, then like you, I almost immediately got very upset and actually cried the first few times I went... -

Thank you so much! I have never heard of a paleo diet, but I will look into it and see what I can some up with! The main thing will be getting on him to exercise and lose weight....I guess that means I will have to do the same! I will stay away from white rice for now...and tell him no more carbs! glutenfreeinminnesota posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Hey everyone! I am on here because I have Celiacs, but no other health issues (as far I know). But, I also know some people on here do have other issues, and hopefully someone can give me advice!! My boyfriend is 30 and just found out he has high cholesterol and is pre diabetic. Now, I know how great the gluten free is for me of course...would this be a good... -
Hey and welcome to the board!! This place has helped me more then anyone can imagine. As far as my GI told me, I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy, and the endoscopy biopsies came back positive for Celiacs Disease. I asked her if that was absolutely, 100% positive and she said yes. I was never told to "try" a gluten free diet....but that I HAD to be on a gluten...

ARCHIVED Just Got Back From Las Vegas
glutenfreeinminnesota posted a topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Alright...here we go... I researched as much as I could online, found some good info, but until you get to Las Vegas, you don't really know just how far away things are! I found all kinds of great options before I left, just to find out they were on the other end of the strip or REALLY expensive. So, here's my experience, maybe it will help someone out... -
ARCHIVED Travel To Las Vegas
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
thank you I will definitely try it! -
I was told to avoid dairy when starting out on the gluten free diet. Your body needs to adjust to the changes. I waited a few months after starting my new diet, and can now have it with no problems. BUT, some people find out they are intolerant to dairy also. I take Osteo-Bi Flex every day, my joints started to feel better after about week. I know that's...

glutenfreeinminnesota replied to glutenfreeinminnesota's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
I checked it out, thanks!! I am happy to know the buffet at planet hollywood is a possible option, maybe there are more out there, too? Glad to know I have a few options, I will post if I find anything else out there! Not going til June, so I have some time to research more. Thank you! -
I am going to Las Vegas soon. I am staying at the Palazzo and need to know where to eat?? I have google searched gluten free restaurants in Las Vegas, but it's hard to tell what's actually close to my hotel. Anyone know the area pretty well? We won't have transportation and I really want to be able to walk there. Any ideas? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Pork Chops...probably Nothing But ?!?!?
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to NorthernElf's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I love pork and anything made from a pig. When I eat it I notice some pains and such after eating. I asked my nutritionist and she tells me that pork is just a little harder to digest then other meats. Maybe that's why? I just won't eat pork for days in a row, or eat too much at one time. -
ARCHIVED Coping With Watching Others Eat
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to BrownEyedGirl's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I will be honest, at first it REALLY sucks...and now it just kind of sucks...sometimes. My boyfriend is a gluten eater and LOVES Papa Murphys Pizza (also used to be my favorite). So, when he brings that home, the house smells like it for days. I am never tempted to eat it of course, but it makes me sad sometimes. Then I usually go and make my own pizza the... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free In Downtown Minneapolis
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to ChemistMama's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Fogo de Chao is AMAZING and I think almost the whole menu in gluten-free. Kinda pricey though. IF you're driving, and could make it to any of these places, they are good too; PF Changs, BD's Mongolian Grill...Chipotle is there, too. Pretty much every place around here is willing to help me out with needs Just let them know! -
ARCHIVED I Am Feeling Frustrated
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to proud-armywife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I was diagnosed back in Nov 09 through biopsy. They said "see a nutritionist" and sent me on my way. I know how that can feel...and I really didn't feel like I had the time..or money to go have someone tell me what I can't eat anymore. I was so angry that this was what I had, I used to eat anything and everything. I loved food. Always maintained my weight... -
ARCHIVED Live To Eat Or Eat To Live?
glutenfreeinminnesota replied to kayo's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I used to eat anything and everything, not a picky bone in my body. I loved trying new beers and restaurants. I always felt like crap no matter what I ate, so I thought that's just the way I was. I never even paid attention to labels. Now, with my new forced diet, I have focused all my time on the labels and whats in EVERYTHING. It's kind of fun researching... -
