  1. Just make your own food, you'll have peace of mind and save yourself the misery of getting sick at the family gathering. You don't need to make an entire turkey, buy some turkey legs/thighs and cook those, like you would prepare a whole turkey(obviously you'd modify cooking time etc.). Just keep it simple and then try to enjoy being w/ your family . ...
  2. I'm just starting and I'm a little confused about the legal foods. I can eat pretty much anything on the legal list. I've only used honey, though I have stevia, I haven't used that on baking. What stage are you? You must be advanced if you're able to use sunflower and pumpkin seeds...is that SCD legal? I miss starchy foods and I've cheated, lol. ...
  3. Thanks I'll check it out!
  4. How long were you on the SCD before you started to improve?
  5. Hi, I posted before I'm grain-free and now I'm trying to do SCD, I would like to connect with those that are also on the same path. I know there was at least one person here. Let me know, thanks!
  6. In my most optimistic voice I say, absolutely not! I don't like being this way. Even makes it harder because I have to be completely grain-free, aside from dairy and soy-free.
  7. I think I got the recipe from celiac.com(not the forum). It's made from potato flour. Let me check and I'll post. Pls DM me if I happen to forget!
  8. I make really good snickerdoodles from scratch and it's grain-free . I am not just gluten-free, I'm grain-free as well(dairy and soy-free too).
  9. Mine happens in a few hours. The GI symptoms begin though about 20-30 minutes after I ingest gluten. That familiar bloating, cramping, nausea, then diarrhea follows after that. Then the neurological symptoms and I would usually feel ill for almost a week. My joints swell up, everything hurts.
  10. I totally forgot to call them today. Bummer. The packaging doesn't have an 800 number, I'll check their website. I am sensitive. I'm grain-free, dairy and soy-free as well. I've not had any Trader Joes before, we don't have one here in town, just a huge Whole Foods. Thanks everyone!
  11. I looked over and over but I don't see that info. That was the first thing I looked for. Weird that they didn't disclose that.
  12. Do you tolerate the ones that are labeled "no gluten ingredients used." My mom just bought me a few things and sent it from out of state. She sent dried pineapples and also cassava chips. What do you think? We have no Trader Joes nearby so I haven't tried these. Thanks!
  13. Sorry for my late reply but I emailed you back. As far as meat, that will be tough. I eat meat. How about beans? Lentils? Can you tolerate those?
  14. 1. Sex: Female 2. Age: early 30s 3. How long did it take you mean? I was diagnosed last year but I've had symptoms pretty much since maybe puberty. 4. Not that I know of. 5. I'm grain-free, soy and dairy-free. I get very sick with these things. I don't know I guess I'm moderate? 6. Is it difficult to eat out at restaurants or anywhere outside of your...
  15. We don't go out to eat much...at all. When we do, I bring DD's food. No one has said anything to me yet. I'm grain-free, after being gluten-free/DF/SF for about a year, I was still having symptoms so I was advised to go grain-free. Socializing is tough, I hear ya. I feel pressured all the time even at playgroups. I kindly explain over and over again why...
  16. Yup, I'm one of the few...I'm grain-free.
  17. Never heard of it before, the name of the protein in egg is albumin.
  18. Oh I remember. I miss a lot but try not to think of it. It makes it harder for me because I have to avoid all grains, so even the gluten-free substitutes are off limits. If anyone has good grain-free recipes please let me know. I have some but all are from almond flour. I'm always on the lookout.
  19. A few weeks ago someone posted a link to other names of gluten that can be found in shampoos/lotions/soaps. I'll find it and post it. I use Ivory, Johnson and Johnson, Shikai Borage lotion, can't remember the other ones. But they are all gluten-free.
  20. I ate those things you mentioned and still got sick. I don't trust anything there anymore, there's just too much cc going on. They don't have a dedicated kitchen so I don't think anything is guaranteed gluten-free.
  21. Thanks everyone, it wasn't as bad as I thought, I still had to cook but it was alright. I kept it simple, well our meals at home are simple anyway. Having a cabin with a kitchen definitely helped a lot.
  22. Hi, I have celiac and I also have fibromylagia and actually also interstitial cystitis. Prior to being gluten-free(and grain-free) my symptoms were very bad. There was one episode of fibromyalgia where I had to quit working, I couldn't even get out of bed because of the pain. I had meds too, very strong ones and also pills for depression(I wasn't depressed...
  23. We're going camping for 3 days. I rented a rustic cabin with a kitchen so I can cook. The problem is the fridge is one of those really, really small ones. I'm bringing a lot of stuff from home since my DD and I are avoiding quite a bunch of foods. Hubby can eat anything. So I'm just worrying that I'll be spending my entire time in the kitchen and that I...
  24. What kind/brand of baker's chocolate do you get? I don't mind shaving it if that will make it taste better.
  25. I looked over and over for this the other day and can't find it. Isn't in in square tin can? Nice to know it's got only 1 ingredient. Yay!
