  1. I don't like mine really sweet either, I want it to be more chocolatey. I'll check on the brands listed, hopefully they don't have soy lecithin in them. Thanks!
  2. Hi, my daughter who's 3 is allergic to sunflower. I'm just wondering if there's anyone else here who is. I need more info, I'm looking online. I was told to watch out for vit. D as it is sometimes derived fr sunflower oil. What about vit. E? Are there any other sunflower derivatives I should be avoiding for her? Companies are not forced to label because...
  3. Thank you! What brand of cocoa powder do you buy? I drink almond milk but I get Pacific Foods because it's the only that I know that doesn't use sunflower oil(For the Vit.D). My daughter is allergic to sunflower. Allergic to coconut too.
  4. Does anyone have a good dairy-soy-gluten-free hot chocolate recipe/mix? Last night I bought this thing called Milk Mixers, it has no dairy but it has soy lecithin. Not sure if I'm reacting to it, I was fine with soy lecithin before. Anyway, it doesn't matter because I don't like the taste at all. It has a metallic aftertaste. I tried it just w/ plain hot...
  5. I'm hungry all the time too, I'm grain-free on top of being gluten-free. I eat all day long, I'm hungry every 2 hours. I eat a lot of meat, nuts, I use oils in my foods. I make smoothies with fruit and hemp milk. Still hungry. If you can eat nuts I suggest eating almonds because they're good for you.
  6. I'm still feeling icky but I'm getting there. In response to Janet, I already threw the can so I don't have the batch number. Oh well. I learned my lesson. I still feel like flu and feeling exhausted, no energy, swollen/achy joints, headache. My stomach's not so bad, thanks everyone for all your help!
  7. How much does he weigh now? How tall? Last year when my DD went gluten-free, she gained 3lbs in a month. So the GI doctor and us were very happy about that. Then after that not much. A whole year has gone and she's gained about 2 lbs. She's 3 now and weighs 28 lbs. Now they're concerned again. The doc said to try going grain-free, which is hard because...
  8. Thanks girls, I really think it was the soup. I am still reeling from that reaction. I feel sick and flu-like. My joints are swollen and achy again and plus big D and all that, sigh. Never gonna buy that again. I feel horrible that I gave that to my kid who is gluten-intolerant. If it's made in the same equipment as wheat then why call it gluten-free? No...
  9. For lunch I had Amy's Split pea soup. Now normally I make my own everything but I was in a hurry and didn't have lunch ready. So I had this for lunch and I think I'm reacting to it. It says gluten-free on the can but has anyone had issues with this brand by any chance? I eat all the ingredients in it with no problems, I don't know what's causing my stomach...
  10. Welcome to the club. I'm gluten-free/DF/SF and recently grain-free as well. Very sad. Not much I can do, I want to get better and still having symptoms so I went grain-free as well. My doc wants to do another colonoscopy because he said I sound like I also have colitis. I just had colonoscopy in February so I said no way. I'll try grain-free and go from...
  11. I was told that sometimes wheat starch is used to seal the bag, so I'd be careful with bagged teas. I stick with loose tea.
  12. It's ok, I was just saying. Go ahead and enjoy your cheese!
  13. I can have sunflower but my DD is allergic. We do use eggs. How long have you been on SCD? Have you seen improvements? I can't tolerate any dairy. Thanks for the tip on the almond meal, will take work as a flour too? I imagine the "meal" would have a rougher texture. What's a sunnies? Sorry!
  14. Sorry I know this may sound silly, but I was at the farmers market today with my toddler and met this girl who was also "trying" to be grain-free. So we talked for a while and promised to get together/keep in touch. I'm glad I found someone to commiserate with locally! LOL I forgot to add that while I was there, the smell of popcorn was overpowering...
  15. You can have dairy??? I'm so jealous! I would love to just be able to eat some cheese. I can't have dairy.
  16. Hugs!!! I know the feeling, oh and months ago I think I was glutened by the chili there, or maybe it was just the beans, too much beans. Not for sure but I avoid that place now. Anyway, this is sad but when I get glutened, I feel/look like I'm 4-5 months pregnant. True story. I feel so bloated!
  17. Sorry you're sick, hope you feel better soon. It feels flu-like too for me when I get glutened. I have a hard time getting out of bed, my joints all swell up, I get itchy rashes, headaches, brain fog, all sorts of pain in my body, plus the GI symptoms. I am terrified to be glutened and to eat anything with dairy. Soy too but the dairy reaction was pretty...
  18. Thanks so much, I actually copied and pasted your reply into a document and saved it . Do you have any ideas for breakfast? My DD is in a rotation diet, hers is more challenging than mine. I can have kale I'm just not a big fan but sure I'll try it again, maybe DD will like it. I have amaranth flour and I really don't like it. I mix it w/ other...
  19. Yes bison is lean, it's lower in fat than beef but has more protein. I make it into meatballs and I always add oil to it because it has a tendency to dry up. I'm curious about ostrich, I can't find that here. How about Guinea fowl, cornish hen? We eat those.
  20. Oh no, big hugs to you, I'm so sorry for your loss.
  21. Hi, I got a new toaster, new breadmaker, I replaced everything that was made of teflon(bakeware, pans). So I got quite a bunch of new things. The glassware, stainless steel and ceramic's okay to keep. Just wash them really good. Stoneware is porous so I would replace that, if you have any. Same with non-stick pans(I was told by my GI dr), and also cutting...
  22. For grains, the soaking removes the phytic acid. For quinoa and buckwheat, it's to remove saponin, the bitter covering. Here's some good articles: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link I'll have to look into the Paleo diet, the one I've been looking into is the Specific Carbohydrate diet, which also removes starches. I didn't think...
  23. I'm not following the paleo diet, I've never heard of it. I'm just grain-free. So no corn, millet, sorghum, rice, teff, obviously no wheat, rye, barley, etc. No grains at all. This is a huge undertaking lol. Glad I can find support. I'm also dairy and soy-free. I've been Gluten-free for nearly a year though I feel okay, I still have stomachaches and...
  24. Thanks! I knew there's gotta be someone else here! I'll bookmark all those sites.
  25. Anyone here grain-free? More and more I'm thinking I'm really having issues with grains. I found some information online and have been trying to be as grain-free as possible, it's so hard. I hope there's some people here who are also grain-free. I went to this naturopath and he did some test that showed I'm actually intolerant to all grains, including...
