  1. I don't think it's a scam. Our pediatric GI recommended it to us. She gave me a name of a dietitian that will work with us. Part of the treatment plan is the LEAP diet and then the MRT(Median response testing). That's the blood test. Then the nutritionist will make a rotation diet based on that. I got a lot of info. We haven't started yet though. The nutritionist...
  2. Good luck, I can't tolerate dairy at all, the last time I tried (with goat cheese) I had intestinal bleeding, I was so sick! I don't know what to take to make it better except avoid dairy all together. Feel better! Also watch out because you might be reacting to soy too. Dairy/soy can sometimes go together as far as intolerance goes.
  3. I'm happily married and wasn't diagnosed til after I was married so the dating is not an issue. When we were dating, the only food I had to avoid was seafood, which I'm so allergic to that I have to carry an Epipen. That was a big issue for his parents who made life hell for me by always making sure they have shrimp as the main dish during holidays. Imagine...
  4. I get this sometimes, especially with corn sometimes carrots too. Do you get diarrhea too? Cramping? I think I have leaky gut and I'm just going to start taking L-glutamine. My doc told me to take probiotics and also digestive enzymes as well but I am so terrible in remembering. I've been gluten-free/DF for 9 months. Just realized within last month that...
  5. I have three nephews that are severely allergic to peanuts, they are anaphylaptic and have to carry epipens. Not sure how severe your peanut allergy is. If you're not comfortable, I would just not eat those. Also you can get tested for tree nut allergies. I can't remember if my nephews can eat tree nuts, I'll have to ask. I thought they were avoiding nuts...
  6. Anyone been able to eat this? I think it's okay unless someone says so. I just want to check with someone here first. They are sesame and about an inch long and come individually wrapped. The ingredients are are gluten-free but making sure if anyone had trouble with this. It's the same commpany that makes the Sesame Tahini. They're closed now so I can...
  7. Anyone using this brand(Bouchard Family Farm)? I've only used the Arrowhead brand and had no problems with that. I won't be able to call til tomorrow to verify this one, it says gluten-free but I was worried of CC. DH was the one who bought it. I would appreciate input from those who've used this brand. Thanks!
  8. Does anyone know if the sand in sandboxes are gluten-free? We went to my sister's house today and they had a sandbox and my 3 yr old played in it. I totally forgot to check if it was even gluten-free. It looked brand new and it was clean. Does anyone happen to know if the sand is gluten-free? This one looked green, I remember BIL saying that it is. It's...
  9. I also have one but ditto on what PP said.
  10. The Walgreens here in my neighborhood called about the gluten to verify. I also called so we both got the correct info. I asked the name of the company that was making the medication and I called.
  11. I have a condition called Interstitial cystitis, one of the symptoms is frequent urination(without a UTI). The symptoms to UTI are similar so you might want to get checked. My GI dr said that Interstitial cystitis(IC) and celiac (and fibromyalgia) go together. I have all of them. So to answer your question, if you have IC like me, yes it's related...
  12. That's crazy, if I had to deal w/ someone like this( i do but not on a regular basis), I would not bring my family there, I don't care what they say. My family's health comes first. Tell your MIL(inlaws) to educate themselves about gluten-free. Lots of people like them seems to think white flour is not wheat *smh.*
  13. Yeah she was reacting to it and we've since removed it from her diet after being confirmed through SPT (skin prick testing). But I can have coconut but then I feel guilty if I make it and then knowing she's not gonna have any.
  14. Thanks, I'd love to try but I can't have dairy at all. Do you think almond milk or hemp milk will work? My DD is allergic to coconuts btw.
  15. Honestly I have no recollection, I was pretty sick and I don't remember. I can tell you what I miss the most is convenience...oh and pizza, and Chinese food, you know good one like from the buffet or some small hole in the wall type deal. I can make Chinese food at home sure but it doesn't taste like it.
  16. That's great, I'm glad for you! I'm mostly grain-free(I'm getting there). I still eat white rice maybe once or twice a week. I use a lot of non-grain(buckwheat and quinoa are okay on the grain-free diet, they're not grains). I do feel better too.
  17. I know it's very easy to be down and feel this way Jason but if I think of all the bad things, I'll miss out on the good things. I'm grateful for each day I get to live my life, despite the celiac and my other health problems. I think it's important to have a support system. It helps me also that I have a daughter who has multiple food allergies(though...

    ARCHIVED Grief

I've been gluten-free for about 9 months, or maybe 10 gosh I should have written the day I started. Initially I was just so happy to find out what's been ailing me. Then this year, around spring, I had some type of breakdown. I just cried for days and felt so depressed about this whole issue. I'm gluten and dairy-free and I think I'm now reacting to soy...
  19. I realize he wasn't on any formula, you already said that after I replied to you the 1st time. I was basically sharing about my DD, she was on hypoallergenic formula. Anyway, good luck and hope you find out what's wrong.
  20. I haven't read all the replies but I get rashes that are very itchy when I'm glutened. They look like blisters.
  21. The next time it happens, take it to the doc to be checked. We had my DD's checked several times, her stools are very dark, almost black most of the time. One GI we saw said it was from the hypoallergenic formula, the way it's being digested. Also I was told that being constipated can darken stools too. I do notice when she's constipated, her stools are...
  22. [code] I agree with the answers, just stick to natural(preferably organic) food for now, no going out to eat. I think the dairy is a no right? So make sure no dairy. I'm not able to tolerate any, not even lactose(which is a milk sugar). I get very ill. Stick to water and safe tea for now, if you must drink tea. No soda and try to stay away fr processed...
  23. Yeah white rice is still rice, it would do the same, plus it's not healthy for you, it's digested and converted into sugar. I would add more fruits, veggies, more fiber in your diet. Flax seed oil helps too, 1-2 tbsp every day should help you get more regular. You can add the oil to your food or take it straight.
  24. OMG I don't even know what to say to that! I'm sorry, I know doctors can be jerks sometimes. I tore my achilles tendon some years ago, the pain was so much! I had to have a cast, strong painkillers, and extensive physical therapy after. The doctor I saw told me I was acting like a baby when I complained of the pain. He was nice in the beginning but the...
  25. Thanks, I made those cupcakes too! They were great.
