  1. Yes, and I also was tested for everything under the sun including MS. Since going gluten free, my strange "symptoms" have stopped.
  2. Anti-gliadin IgA: 57 Units (greater than 10 is pos) Anti-tissue Transglutaminase IgA: 98 Units (greater than 10 is pos)
  3. Wow- we are a family of 3 and I never spend less than $200 a week on groceries. I do buy a large amount organic and lots of fruits and veg. But seriously, it is none of her freakin' business how much money you spend on food. WHAT?
  4. I think it sounds like a virus or food poisoning as well. Hope you feel better really soon!
  5. Joint pain, stomach pain, bloating, tons of burping, and of course the bathroom visits. I'm back to normal in 24 hours, with the exception of the joint pain- it lingers.
  6. I have antibodies to Caesin, I've been tested. I can tell you my symptoms are within 15 minutes of consumption, and it is intense joint pain. It is never "sometimes". It doesn't matter if it is a tiny bit of dairy or a moderate amount, the symptoms are always the same. So it's really hard to say either way, you just have to listen to your body. Lactose...
  7. Oooh I love that! lol
  8. I'm sorry you are feeling so bad. I have Celiac disease and Thyroid disease (Hashimoto's disease). Try to hang on until you get into that appointment. Even the "low" end of normal can affect some people a great deal. Make sure you voice exactly how bad you feel, some doctors want to look at the numbers and not the symptoms when it comes to thyroid tests...
  9. The only thing I can offer is this. My father and brother both had their gallbladder removed and their food travels through them much quicker than it did before the surgery.
  10. I guess I opened up a can of worms. I had no idea this thread had already been going on. Sorry guys!
  11. That is exactly what I read on the site, but the McDonald's website states they use beef flavorings made from wheat on their french fries. All I can vouch for is that they are not safe for me. Maybe I was cross contaminated.
  12. Never trust something you read on the net that you do not know if it is a reliable source. :-( I read McDonald's french fries are gluten free on someone's web site today. So tonight I got a large order of fries and ate the entire thing. Started feeling sick about 15 mins later. Then I go to McDs website and they are most certainly NOT gluten free. My...
  13. I feel absolutely fabulous. I am guessing, exactly like a "normal" person without illness feels like.
  14. I had a reaction with my K cup coffee. Hazelnut and vanilla both gave me a reaction. :-( I couldn't find any info on whether they were gluten-free or not. But my guess is not since I got a reaction each time they have some trace of something in there. I can tell within 15 if something has gluten.
  15. You are not alone. I think about eating the wrong foods ALL THE TIME. I have a young child, and I end up at some pot luck function (where everyone brings a dish or food) at least once a week. I just watch (starving) and politely say "I'm not hungry". It's truly awful, but it's so much worse to be sick. I broke down last week after 4 strict months of...
  16. Full blown for me = all the gastro symptoms, bad stomach pain, bloating, frequent bathroom trips, feel horrible and joint pain. Tiny bit = just joint pain It is a bit strange. But I can tell within 15 minutes of ingesting it- my hips start to ache.
  17. My doc prescribed Klonopin for anxiety about a year ago. I had good results with no side effects. It is easy to become dependent, so just be careful. Klonopin is a common med prescribed for anxiety.
  18. I'm also wondering if you have had your thyroid checked? Hashimoto's disease is not uncommon with Celiac. I also have Hashimoto's disease. The worst symptom for me is the cold to your bones feeling, almost like the flu. Where you cannot get warm and it makes you physically sick you feel so cold. That was my WORST symptom. Chills, exhaustion were also...
  19. I have been on synthroid for 20+ years, with good results. I think it is different for everyone. Some people LOVE armour and some people do just fine with the synthroid. I also have Hashimoto's When is the last time you had labs done regarding your thyroid? When my levels are bad, I get the same symtoms cold, dry brittle loss of hair etc. When I am...
  20. I am gluten free and dairy free (I'm intolerant to Casein). I found it much easier to give up the gluten than the dairy. How I love a chunk of cheese! All my recipes and casseroles I've been cooking for 20 years have dairy. It's not easy. I'm trying to find some good recipes for both and it's not easy. I cut out absolutely everything with any milk in...
  21. I JSUT read in Elizabeth Hasselbeck's book that envelope glue had gluten in it. Her book is cowritten with a gastro doctor. It's hard to determine who to believe, so I just don't like them!
  22. My doctor is a big pusher of Juice Plus vitamins. He swears they are gluten-free and safe. I don't believe what comes out of people's mouths for the most part, but I can tell you I am fine taking them.
  23. Hashimoto's disease (autoimmune thyroiditis) was my first, Celiac my second.
  24. Thanks for the input everyone. I guess there is the possibility I cross contaminated myself somehow. My daughter eats a PB & J everyday on normal bread. I'm careful, but who knows! I'm ok now.
  25. I skipped breakfast and ate what I THOUGHT to be a safe lunch. 30 minutes after eating I have explosive (you can guess the graphic insert here), along with belching and some mild discomfort. I guess my question is this: Is it possible to have a reaction THAT fast? Or is it from something I ate yesterday? Needless to say it ruined ALL my plans for the...
