ARCHIVED My View On Diagnosis, My Personal Situation
kareng replied to StephieRN's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
We don't like white bread. The kids found no difference in the Udis whole grain hamburger buns and the Sara Lee WW ones. They aren't too picky about hamburger buns. If you like a whole wheat bread (that isn;t wheat) try Canyon Bakehouse 7 grain San Juan bread. The main problem is that the slices are usually smaller than wheaty bread. -

ARCHIVED Gluten Free Ingredients

Get some duct tape in a fun color - WAlmart or craft stores have leopard, hot pink, etc. Stick a piece of it on the lids of your mayo, PB, butter tub, etc. Then no one worries about getting crumbs in things. I make my family take the cheese, cold cuts, lettuce first and put it on a plate. Then put the cheese back in the fridge & only then, get the... -

Did you get a copy of the pathology report? This is from the special doctor (Pathologist) that looks at the small intestine samples. In the US, they look for the 2 most common genes: Open Original Shared Link Of course, even if these are all negative, you could have non-celiac gluten intolerance. The only way to find that out is to eliminate... -
ARCHIVED Looking For A Few gluten-free Alternatives

I make that recipe, too. I make it with cream of chicken & celery. There have been some recipes for cream of soups. You could maybe make a big batch and freeze it in the size you need for a recipe. I bet you could just use cream of chicken if you didn't want to make both. Use the google function in the top right corner Here's the link I was hoping... -

Were you gluten free when these tests were done? Can you get a copy of the exact tests and results? Just to make sure the doc requested the correct tests and read them correctly. You were asked to provide a legitimate/reputable back-up for your claims. Please refer to rule #5. Furthermore, human acne and a "theory" of "toxins" and other particles leeching thru human skin is off-topic.
-
Once again...if you are going to make these claims, you need some scientific back-up for it. I think you are just playing with us. The original topic is eggs.

ARCHIVED Cheating When On A Gluten Free Diet
kareng replied to jwblue's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
No cheating. Hear it from medical experts: Open Original Shared Link "The gluten-free diet is a lifetime requirement. Eating any gluten, no matter how small an amount, can damage the intestine. This is true for anyone with the disease, including people who do not have noticeable symptoms" -
ARCHIVED 6 Month Follow-Up After Celiac Diagnosis - Still Poor Growth
kareng replied to mom2's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
My kids don't have Celiac but they grew in spurts. Maybe its not her time for a "spurt"? I would get worried that one hadn't grown for 6 months. Just bought them the same size shoes and a pair of boots. A month later the pants were all too short and the new shoes & boots too small. My boys' feet always grew first then a month or 6 weeks laterm the... -
I thhink if you are going to make this type of statement, you need to present some reputable scientific evidence for it.

I think this is normal when it gets cold. They are looking for warmth. There could be a very tiny crack around a window, light fixture or the fan might be where they come in. They could have ridden in on your clothes or bag even. I'm not sure if you have a real "wasp" or the things many call a wasp or bee. Those are actually attracted to any food, including... -

Thank you. That was very helpful. It was left to the kids. I honestly thought the one girls mom would want to help. Maybe she didn't want Mom to help. I was thinking that most of these kids will have had breakfast. Because they are done at 1, they will be needing a snack. I have emailed to ask what the milk is for. Maybe just for coffee? I'm... -

ARCHIVED Blood Tests And False Negative Results
kareng replied to jwblue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I wish they would be more specific on which blood tests. I know some docs and labs are not always running the recommended tests and they may not be as accurate as some of the newer tests. I think that is for an average person eating a diet with gluten. They have a recommendation for if you have been gluten-free. Open Original Shared Link I’ve heard that I don’t necessarily have to endure 12 weeks of eating gluten if I have a severe reaction. Is that true? How does it work? kareng replied to jwblue's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Here is some info that is easy to find from reputable sources: Open Original Shared Link How accurate are the celiac blood tests? The current diagnostic tests for celiac disease are very accurate, particularly when tTG and anti-endomysial antibodies are elevated. The isolated presence of anti-gliadin antibodies does not necessarily imply that the subject...
