  1. I'm wondering what are the symptoms that show intolerance to soy or corn. Are they the same symptoms of gluten intolerance? Do they cause absorption? Do they cause fatigue?
  2. Hmm, then what is an accepted form to diagnose Celiac Disease/gluten-sensitivity? I already had two negative blood tests. I've read the biopsy gives negative results for people with severe Celiac Disease. Is the genetic test the best way to assume one has Celiac Disease?
  3. If taking 2 capsules of HCl at meal did not cause any burning, you most likely have weak stomach acid. It sounds like you were not given the proper test (there is a stomach pH test that can be performed) and then misdiagnosed. I found that I could take up to 9 pills of HCl with each meal of protein to alleviate the edema. After several months, your body...
  4. I found the enzyme Bromelain helped reduce a little edema (inflammation/swelling). But hydrochloric acid helped the most. I've read that using enzymes and Hydrochloric acid for about 4 months can "re-train" our bodies to digest certain foods that we previously thought impossible to digest.
  5. For those of you who suffer with edema (random body swellings): Does it go away after a gluten-free diet? I began my gluten-free diet 10 days ago. My knees used to swell up very large when I ran and they would stay swollen for 4 days. Then, as young adult, I developed edema on my face with acne. If I had a pimple, it would fill with liquid until it...
  6. Meat is a difficult protein to digest, it was one of the first foods I removed from my diet and noticed a little relief. Soy also caused horrible edema. Nuts and seeds cause only a little, but now I take HCl (Hydrochloric Acid) with the nuts, seeds and legumes. Soy and meat on the other hand still cause quite a bit of edema even with the HCl. I would...
  7. Did your doctor specifically give you a hypochlorhydria test? Or do you and your doctors believe you have excess stomach acid due to your "heartburn" pain? Stomach acid that is too strong and too weak both manifest the same symptoms: Heartburn. Because of this, many people are misdiagnosed. Do you feel relief with antacids? Did you experience a burning...
  8. I'm a vegan who is embarking on this gluten-free journey. I've decided it is easier to learn a few raw food recipes to make things simple. I suggest you take sublingual Vitamin B12 tablets. If you are a celiac, you most likely are not absorbing the B12 because you are not making intrinsic factor, which is needed in B12 absorption. So buy sublingual...
  9. I just finished a 10 day raw food diet. I was doing it for health and expected to lose about 2-3 pounds. Instead I lost 8. If you really want to lose weight, Google "Raw Food Bootcamp." It is a 1 month raw food diet.
  10. If you used EnteroLab for the gluten-sensitivity stool test, were you satisfied with the results? Did the results ever say negative when you knew you had Celiac Disease or gluten-sensitivity? I plan on doing this test. I've already had a blood test and it was negative. I heard that a stool test is more sensitive.
  11. I am fairly confident that you need to purchase Hydrochloric Acid at the health food store. Celiac Disease causes hypochlorhydria (weak stomach acid) because of the malnutrition. When stomach acid is weak, it is not strong enough to break apart protein into the individual amino acids in the stomach. The molecules of protein are then pushed into the bloodstream...
  12. Basically, I learned that it isn't the number of grams that causes the swelling, it is the type of protein. For example, brown rice is high in protein and I can eat as much of that as I like. Spirulina, a seaweed, is the world's most perfect and easily digestible protein, and I could eat bowls of that as well. But meat, lentils, nuts, seeds, tofu, legumes...
  13. I never counted the grams of protein I ate each day. My day would consist something like this: A baked potato, spinach salad, a bowl of brown rice with curry and tomato sauce. Or: A bowl of vegetable soup and fruit. I assume I was getting around 25 grams of protein per day. The proteins that cause the most severe swelling are meat, lentils, beans...
  14. May I ask what protein issue? I had protein issues myself these past two years.
  15. There is a product called Spirulina at the health food store. It is 100% sea algae. It is high in protein and several other vitamins and chlorophyll. It is high in the amino acid Tyrosine which is a natural appetite suppressant. Taking 20 tablets of spirulina not only makes you feel full, but it is also very nutritious and very low calorie. Taking a...
  16. I feel so sorry for you. Interestingly, my body doesn't bloat up with water, my face does! I get horrible contusions on my face anywhere there is a pimple. It was incredibly painful. Before I figured out that I was gluten-sensitive, I figured out that my body wasn't able to digest protein properly. The pain was so bad that I stopped eating protein...
  17. I am a vegan (no meat or dairy!) and recently realized that there is a high probability that I am Celiac or at least extremely gluten-sensitive. Thankfully, I was already introduced to raw veganism so cooking gluten-free or even grain-free won't be extremely challenging. I make my raw vegan pies with nut crusts, my raw vegan lasagna with fresh zucchini...
  18. Hi all, I have a sibling with severe Celiac Disease. I never had any of the classic symptoms but have always suffered with horrible bouts of canker sores, oily hair and acne while growing up. The acne has only worsened these last 14 years since puberty. Other than that I was sailing through life, at least until four years ago. I experienced an EXTREMELY...
