  1. Search for "Dogtor J" -- he is a vet that has found that a grain-free diet for pets stops seizures and other diseases. Basically, grains are killing our pets just as it is killing most Celiacs. The Irish Setter has now been found to actually be Celiac (gluten intolerant) and they believe many more breeds and species are as well. Obviously, cats and dogs...
  2. L-Glutamine causes me to have a gluten-like reaction. Also, soy causes many Celiacs to have a gluten-like reaction --some people say it is worse than gluten itself. Another idea is trying the Gluten Society's Advice and try going grain-free. I suggest you google them and watch some of their videos for more information. According to them, corn is 5...
  3. The Gluten Free Society says that about 45% of Celiacs cannot eat any gluten, this includes the gluten in corn and rice, not just the gliadins in wheat, barley and rye. I saw two different studies published that stated that corn gluten damaged the intestines of Celiacs just as much as wheat gluten. I know I am definitely one of those people. Although I didn...
  4. Every time I get into gluten, I start refusing food. I will refuse all food or only eat very little for up to 4 days after being glutened. Your son may not be able to eat corn, which is very common among Celiacs. Dr. James Osborne (of the Gluten Free Society) believes that up to 45% of Celiacs react to gluten (found in corn and rice!), not just to the...
  5. I am glad you had good results with the biopsy! I just read about a Celiac who had 8 biopsies over a period of years and only the 8th finally revealed Celiac Disease. I recommend using a stool test at EnteroLab for $120. www.EnteroLab.com It was the only test that finally diagnosed me . You might want to look into Dr. James Osborne's grain-free diet...
  6. How long on average does it take to see results after beginning a grain-free diet? I've been "gluten-free" for a 1 year. I stopped eating all traces of corn about a month ago (I had a gluten-like reaction!)and I stopped eating rice six days ago. I am also treating all grain like gluten now and have stopped taking any vitamins that have any grain in...
  7. Here is a link to grain-free meat: Open Original Shared Link
  8. For those of you trying to be grain-free, I did notice that the Gluten Society (they are grain free) has a link for purchasing grass-fed bison. Open Original Shared Link
  9. I read a study where calves were given soy formula and their intestinal villi were completely destroyed. I know many Celiacs who are soy intolerant, including myself. Also, soy helps cause a lot of depression for many Celiacs.
  10. I just read about Dr. Osborne's truly gluten-free diet. He claims that we react to the gluten in ALL the grains, not just the gliadin in wheat, barley, rye. If you are desperate, I would google for more info. So far I know he says that Celiacs can't have any grains in any products or animal products from grain-fed animals. I also found a blog by a really...
  11. I had that two nights ago and I think it was on apples.
  12. I know several people who are corn intolerant and they cannot eat the eggs from hens fed corn. So yes it matters.
  13. If you are grain free and still getting sick, are you also avoiding meat and animal products from animals fed grains? Vitamins and supplements are also grain free? I have friends who are corn intolerant and cannot eat the EGGS that comes from hens fed corn. They have a severe reaction. I can't find "100% grass fed" anywhere. When I call "grass-fed,...
  14. Thats basically how I am now. I have so far found that I can't eat corn or rice. I can't eat nightshades (potatoes, tomatoes, egg plant, peppers). I cannot eat many greens such as: broccoli, kale, spinach, carrots, cauliflower, bok choy, brussel sprouts. I fall asleep after eating them. I cannot eat legumes. So its basically ice berg lettuce,...
  15. You get sick when you make grain-free cookies? You get sick when you inhale the odor of gluten? This is interesting. I just read that a study found that breathing in gluten affected some Celiacs. This will make me more cutious. Are you eating soy? If you are, is it GM soy? Are you eating legumes? Sorry for all the quesitons, I'm trying...
  16. Have any of you heard of Dr. James Osmonde? He believes that Celiacs many Celiacs are not only intolerant to the gliadins in wheat, barley and rye, but the gluten in corn and other grains as well. He is the founder of the Gluten Free Society and cites studies that have found that corn affect the intestines of Celiacs exactly the way the gliadins in wheat...
  17. Food allergy testing is a bit of a medical scam. They fail to mention that only 3% of the population has allergic reactions, while up to 20% has a food intolerance or sensitivity. I paid $700 for the allergy test and when they found nothing, the doctor told me that "Sometimes the tests aren't accurate." I was CLEARLY very sick. A year later, I decided...
  18. I have been browsing over information on the grain-free diet by Dr. Osmonde and Elaine Gottschall. Elaine Gottschall treated Celiacs, ulcerative collitis, Crone's Disease and other intestinal diseases with a grain-free diet. Interestingly, she was unhappy that the medical community started saying that Celiacs only needed to avoid wheat, barley and rye....
  19. Sounds like you are having a delayed allergic reaction. Did any one of the bumps where they scratched you become inflamed, red or itchy?
  20. I have two friends who are Celiac and corn intolerant (they are problably GRAIN intolerant and don't know it yet!). They cannot eat EGGS that come from hens that are fed corn because all their gluten-like symtpoms return and their inflammation becomes VERY painful within hours. One of them keeps their own hens and feeds them their daily grain-free leftovers...
  21. I am trying to go grain-free. The thought of eliminating all grains including rice is not daunting to me because I know how bad all traces of gluten affect a Celiac's body -- the brain damage, the intestinal damage, the organ damage. The daunting part is trying to get ALL GRAINS OUT OF PRODUCTS LIKE SALT AND VITAMINS, LOL. I just noticed my "all natural...

  23. As I browse these Celiac message boards, I see so many Celiacs have leaky gut syndrome and allergies to so many foods. Medical studies find that the intestines of many Celiacs remain inflamed and damaged 10 years after beginning a strict gluten-free diet. Then there is Dr. Osborne who is a Celiac doctor who advocates a grain-free diet for all Celiacs...
  24. I'm wondering if GM foods are contributing or causing the leaky gut issues in many Celiacs. Google "GM Corn Allergies" and there are many interesting articles discussing the fact that Genetically Modified crops can cause allergies to previously harmless foods and cause intestinal permeability. Some researchers state that they believe Celiacs and people...
  25. Don't forget about sweet potatoes/yams and squash. Sweet potatoes are not related to potatoes and are not in the same family as potatoes, so it should be okay for you to eat them.
