ARCHIVED Any Celiacs Who Decided To Be Completely Grain-Free?
Evangeline posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I am wondering why many Celiacs are not healing on a STRICT gluten-free diet. I read medical studies that shows many biopsies show the intestines still remained inflamed 15 years later. Obviously, something is wrong with this gluten-free diet if many people aren't healing. I just read a blog of someone with Crone's Disease who has basically completely... -
ARCHIVED Dear Food, You Make Me Sick!
Evangeline replied to victoriaback09's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Remove all soy and corn from your diet. That means in supplements and in vitamins too. Many Celiacs discover they are intolerant to both. They are in hidden ingredients just like gluten. Corn is in citric acid and ascorbic acid. I have begun to feel better after I stopped taking my gluten-free supplements that contained corn and soy. I've read the same... -
I used to believe that we needed to add supplements to our diets to heal the leaky gut syndrome, but I now believe there is an underlying reason why the intestines and bodies of Celiacs are not healing by itself like any other injury - efficiently and quickly. Obviously, there is a problem that everyone is over looking. As I research the topic, it is obvious...

ARCHIVED Too Many Veggies?
Evangeline replied to AmyNColorado's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
After I had been gluten free for a year, I began having reactions to avocados and greens. FINALLY I discovered that I had to remove EVERY TRACE of corn from my diet (its in supplements, vitamins, citric acid and ascorbic acid) and every TRACE of soy from my diet. Within a month, I have been able to eat avocados again. -
After reading the Celiac message board and plenty of Celiac medical articles, I know now that it is almost "normal" for Celiacs to be cross-reactive to corn, soy, rice, potatoes (or all nightshade plants), coffee, chocolate, sesame seeds and probably 100 other foods. I myself have finally discovered I am corn, soy, dairy and nightshade intolerant. I also...

ARCHIVED Great Experience At Beth Israel In Boston
Evangeline replied to Cara in Boston's topic in Doctors
It would be great if the Beth Israel center became affiliated with Cyrex Laboratories (www.CyrexLabs.com). It is a new lab that caters to Celiacs and identifies CROSS-REACTING foods like potato, rice, corn, coffee and many other foods. Look at Cyrex Lab's page and look at the huge array of cross-reactive tests and familiarize yourself with it. Then call... -
ARCHIVED Need Doc In Santa Cruz, San Jose, San Francisco Area
Evangeline replied to mara's topic in Doctors
There is a clinic that specializes in Celiac Disease in Sunnyvale, Ca (near San Jose). Open Original Shared Link -
I am nightshade intolerant. Apparently, a "night shade allergy" will go away over time if the food is avoided. However, an intolerance will not go away. I didn't feel like I had any reaction to nightshade vegetables but removed them from my diet just to be careful. I did this for about two months. When I re-added them to my diet, my reaction was HUGE...

ARCHIVED Cross Reactivity And Rotation Diets
Evangeline replied to knf's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Have you tried taking the soy test at www.EnteroLab.com ? I felt fine on soy too, but according to their test, I was HIGHLY reactive to soy but not feeling it (yet!). After I gave it up, my family also did the same and some of their MAJOR health issues went away -- so THEY were very reactive to it, but I wasn't having any symptoms. EnteroLab's soy test... -
Yes, many celiacs have a reaction to sugar. I have a slight reaction so I avoid it. According to Cyrex Labs, Celiacs can have "cross-reactions" with a number of gluten-free foods, most often coffee, soy, corn, chocolate, sugar, etc.

I did not have any symptoms to corn before I started the corn avoidance diet. I would have never believed anyone who said I might be sensitive. When I removed ALL TRACES of corn from my diet for two months, I had the biggest reaction in my life when I accidently ate a little. But it was not like I was eating large amounts of corn prior to this avoidance...

ARCHIVED Celiacs With Glutamate Sensitivity? Causes Depression
Evangeline replied to Evangeline's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Interestingly, I just learned that glutamate is high in vaccines in the form of MSG. I was one of those babies who had a reaction to the vaccines (I had a more severe reaction - seizures). I have never had a seizure since, but I have had many "undiagnosable" health problems - that is, until I began removing gluten, corn, soy and dairy from my diet. Now... -
Yes, corn is in all sources of vitamin C. If you want a more complete list, click here: Open Original Shared Link I just assume corn or soy is in every ingredient that has an odd name. I now make everything at home. Also, beware of vitmains and supplements that add glutamate or glutamic acid. If you are sensitive to either of those foods, it could...

ARCHIVED Celiacs With Glutamate Sensitivity? Causes Depression
Evangeline replied to Evangeline's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have found the opposite to be true: It is not that each person has a different toleration level, but that the body has become so accustomed to the inflammation caused by a food that we don't even know we are sensitive to it. I have been researching this topic for four years now and all research points to the fact that most people don't even know they... -
ARCHIVED Celiacs With Glutamate Sensitivity? Causes Depression
Evangeline posted a topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Depression, anxiety, paranoia, temper tantrums - All related to gluten, soy or glutamate intolerance I have been on a gluten-free diet for a year now. But I didn't start seeing good results until I had removed corn, dairy and soy from my diet. Two weeks ago, I began taking the product "Glutamate" to help my intestines heal. Instead, I had a gluten-like... -
Also, I have been researching the topic of Celiac Disease and depression for about two months now. Soy is usually the biggest cause of depression, but I have been reading this might be caused by a GLUTAMATE intolerance. About 40% of Celiacs find that taking a glutamate supplement made them feel worse, even though it is a product aimed at healing the intestines...

4 of my Celiac friends have discovered that soy (including soy lecithin and soy oil) causes them to have depression. REALLY BAD DEPRESSION. It usually hits them about 2-3 hours after eating it and the effects will last for 3-4 days. After researching it, I found that there are many other Celiacs who are sensitive to soy and can become suicidally depressed...

ARCHIVED I Need To Start A Rotational Diet - Is Anyone Else Familiar With It?
Evangeline posted a topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
Before being diagnosed as a Celiac, my body became sensitized to various foods due to leaky gut syndrome. To summarize: 3 years ago, I noticed that I had really bad inflammation and pus-filled lesions anytime I touched ANY PROTEIN. Even 1 single bean. I stopped eating all protein for two years (under the watchful eye of a doctor) and then about a year... -
ARCHIVED Gluten-Free And Irritable Bowel Syndrome
Evangeline replied to onehappylady's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
My friend has had IBS for over 10 years. It was -really- bad. I suggested they go on a gluten-free diet which they did, but when they REALLY noticed an 80% improvement was when they stopped eating all corn and soy. Even traces of corn and soy affect them. They also cannot eat any legumes (including peanuts (peanuts are legumes, not nuts). This diet improved... -
Thank you for the replies! So I need to do a 3-4 day rotational diet. I have been reading about leaky gut syndrome and I DEFINITELY know I have it. I also have little or no stomach acid (I can take up to 18 HCL (Hydrochloric Acid)Pills which help me digest protein). I get really bad inflammation all over my face (acne-like) any time I touch ANY traditional...

ARCHIVED Severe Depression/ Thyroid Issues Linked To Celiac Disease?
Evangeline replied to keithceliac2010's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Be aware that SOY and SOY LECITHIN commonly cause Celiacs to become depressed. Any trace of it can cause depression within hours. I know 6 Celiacs with this problem. S -
ARCHIVED Those Who Cant Eat Nightshade Vegetables - Cracking Lips, Pus-Filled Pimples?
Evangeline replied to Evangeline's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I get watery eyes, a tight throat and begin to cough when I am around cigarette smoke. That's true, tobacco IS a nightshade plant. And I am VERY VERY sensitive to nightshades. I have eliminated them completely from my diet now. I vomit and have heart burn and cramps and am a GROUCH after eating tomatoes. I am grumpy after potatoes too. I haven't tested... -
ARCHIVED Other Issues - Where To Start?
Evangeline replied to Joni63's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
EnteroLab stool test for gluten, yeast, egg, dairy and soy. $99 per food. This test is the most reliable. Then for the other foods, I suggest www.NowLEAP.com for $500. They will test over 250 foods. This test caught over 80% of my other sensitivities and their tips of starting a food diary and doing an elimination diet has helped me catch the remaining...
