  1. All of the major recognized celiac support experts and associations list wine as safe. It unlikely that they are all wrong, but make your own decision. I know what mine is: I consider wine safe, without hesitation.
  2. Spotted at Loblaw in Markham today! Now if we could just get Corn Chex...
  3. However, a "contains wheat" statement is not required if "wheat" appears in the ingredients. Always read the entire ingredient list.
  4. At McDonalds, the potato fryers are at the front, and operated by the window crew; the other fryers, which are in the back, are operated by the grill crew. This physical separation makes the likelihood of transfer from other foods close to zero. But that applies only to McD. The fryers at BK are shared and are not safe.
  5. In the US and Canada, the fries at McDonalds are not coated with anything, and are fried in dedicated fryers that only fry potatos. I believe that that is true everywhere else as well.
  6. Go to the forum you want it in (you can click on the forum name on the main page) and click one of the blue "Start New Topic" buttons. They are on the right hand side. There is one near the top, just above the green bar, and another one at the bottom.
  7. Welcome. This is a very old topic, and much of the information may be out of date. Certainly the worries about modified food starch are no longer relevant. You may have better responses by starting a new one.
  8. You should be fine the next day.
  9. In the US, maltodextrin is almost always corn. If it is from wheat, then by federal law (FALCPA) that must be clearly disclosed. I don't worry about maltodextrin.
  10. Welcome to the community. Yes, you can be diagnosed based on endoscopy and biopsy alone. I was. The blood tests are considered screening tools to decide whether an endoscopy is indicated. A false negative on the IgA tests can happen for several reasons.
  11. I trust Unilever products. Frustratedmom, what you are hearing is a legal disclaimer. It is standard for all manufacturers that do not actually test for gluten.
  12. To the best of my understanding, tests in Ontario must be ordered by a doctor. Even if the patient pays for a test that is not covered by OHIP, such as PSA, the results belong to the doctor who ordered them. To gain access, the patient must go through the doctor (or another doctor that the ordering doctor requested be sent a copy).
  13. Bard's gluten-free beer is good. I like Tinkyada pasta and Udi's bread and buns.
  14. We like Udi's and Tinkyada.
  15. The blood tests to screen for celiac disease are not covered by OHIP. Ontario is the only province where they are not. That might be clouding the doctor's judgement.
  16. I drink the coffee without any issues.
  17. Your information is not visible to others. The board administrator can see it, but other members (including Moderators) can not. Your location (not address) is visible if you provide it.
  18. I am right handed, and on the right politically. That is all just right with me.
  19. If you are pouring your your wine into a glass, and it is not full: If you think the glass is half full, you are an optimist. If you think it is half empty, you are a pessimist. If you believe that the glass is the wrong size, you are an engineer!
  20. Yay! There is life in the world of psillies!
  21. I'm inclined to agree with IH. There are only a few communist regimes left. Why anyone would put their life at risk to go to one of them as a missionary escapes me. But my own faith is personal. I subscribe to the teachings of my church, but would never seek to impose them on others, or to try to tell others that their faith is wrong and mine is right. FWIW...
  22. As I see it, it is not the meds. The trigger for celiac disease to activate was not the antibiotics, but the underlying infection that the antibiotics were prescribed to treat. That is my thinking. YMMV
  23. We can't really help with your question unless you say which test you are talking about. The reference numbers from the lab that did the test would also help.
  24. He would not be the first person to confuse gluten with glucose, if that was the case.
  25. Concerns about other things aside, gluten is not an issue in my world when it comes to glass cutting boards or other things in the kitchen. Glass does not scratch and is easy to clean. Enjoy!
