  1. A colonoscopy will not show celiac disease damage caused by gluten. Damage from celiac disease occurs in the small intestine, not in the colon. The procedure to detect celiac disease is an enteroscopy, commonly also called an endoscopy. It is common for both procedures to be done at the same time.
  2. Planters is a Kraft brand. If there is gluten it will be clearly disclosed in the ingredient list.
  3. A bit of silly history, for the newbies. This thread was started almost three years ago by Richard (TriticusToxicum). It took more than a year to reach 200 pages, at which point the phirst poster on page 200, Bev (Mntdog) was declared to be the Queen of the Sillies (normal spelling was still in effect). Since then, the first poster on a page which is...
  4. I'll post about the monarchy in a moment. Crosby, Stills and Nash are playing in my ears as I post this, from the Woodstock 40th Anniversary compact disc set (disc 6 track 2). Marrakesh Express. Coincidences or what? Originally posted "C D" but no, there is not a 40th Anniversary celiac disease.
  5. Would you please share with us just how you know this "for a fact."
  6. According to an article in today's paper, a building in the Toronto area has a problem with someone peeing in the lobby. The building manager has picked up on a particular characteristic of the perp and Open Original Shared Link It's hard to see if he also has short thumbs.
  7. Perhaps it is because if a vegan accidentally ingests something not on the diet, their immune system does not react making them physically ill.
  8. Our new Queen is lost already. How what works?
  9. A high ttG-IGa is strongly suggestive of celiac disease, but is not considered conclusive in and of itself. It shows an autoimmune reaction, but in some rare cases celiac disease is not the cause. The reaction is to gluten, and even if celiac disease is not the underlying cause, a sensitivity to gluten is indicated. If you want to pursue further diagnostic...
  10. Welcome back, Julie. It's good to see you again. Not everybody here has a real life--I'm sure some of them are just making it up. We have some new members in Sillyville since you were last here. While you are reading you will see Rachel, Rachelle, Jillian, and maybe some I phorgot.
  11. Some people experience quick and dramatic recovery after going gluten-free, and others take longer. Welcome to the board.
  12. Yew will ghett yoosed to it aphter enuff thyme. Zen yew vont be able to tok type normally agin. Meese are an interesting challenge. We get them in the house once in a while, but never are sure whether they get in on their own or have help from our cats. A while back Riley cornered a chipmunk in the front hall. We think she chased/brought it inside...
  13. Due to the litigious (lawsuit-happy) nature of society today, most companies will not guarantee gluten-free status of their products. Even those that test will not be able to guarantee zero gluten--only there is less that "x" parts per million (and we need to keep in mind that the "x" refers to the sensitivity of the test--zero is always less than "x"...
  14. If is says tomorrow then something is not right. The timer is supposed to be one hour (60 minutes) from the time you sent the most recent message. Receiving messages is not restricted. On my non-moderator test identity, I sent a message a couple of minutes ago, and then tried again and got: You cannot send another PM until Aug 26 2009, 03:45 PM which...
  15. Interesting news item about Open Original Shared Link It sounds like the yak wasn't silly.
  16. Box, what box? I don't see any box. Actually, that is a linked image. Until very recently, they were prohibited on this board, but Scott has enabled the capability. [img=http://www.penny-arcade.com/docs/internetdickwad.webp] That is just a phunny thing I saw on another board a while back. I wasn't thinking of anybody among us as a dickwad...
  17. You'll find it again soon enough.
  18. captaincrab55 is the member I think that this is referring to...
  19. Please see the discussion here on that issue.
  20. Hey, I'm 55 years of age, but I don't believe that I'm a crab.
  21. That picture just cracks me up!
  22. Perhaps they changed the formula. Products lists are out of date as soon as they are created. Formulas are subject to change without notice. Or it could be that the person who compiled the list considers maltodextrin to be safe even if made from wheat. From the Canadian Celiac Association: ...rarely, maltodextrin may be derived from wheat. Using the...
