  1. Oops--my bad. I obviously meant uninformed.
  2. This discussion is no longer about the original topic, and having various other members question each other is not of benefit to the original poster. We're done here.
  3. There is a basic concept in labels that a label must not be misleading. It is considered misleading to label a product such as pure olive oil as "gluten-free" because it is not a distinguishing characteristic of that specific product. A label may say something like "Olive oil is naturally gluten-free" or "This oil, like all olive oil, is gluten-free." This...
  4. It is still there, but it is harder to find. Scroll down to the last entry, and look underneath it on the right, above the Fast Reply box. You will see the clickable words "Archive Conversation."
  5. Try Glutino's Genius sandwich bread. It is awesome. Lots of people here like Udi's as well.
  6. Caramel color is one of those celiac urban myths that just won't go away. Here is Shelley Case's take on it, from Gluten-Free Diet A Comprehensive Resource Guide: [Emphasis in original] I don't worry about caramel color. Pepsi and Coca-Cola are gluten-free in all variations.
  7. Here is what I hope will really be the last post over there. Scott has applied a fix for long topics, but I don't want to push our luck. This is the third time that I have tinkered with it since Scott closed it. Fingers crossed.
  8. Due to system issues, this thread has been closed. The Funny Pages topic continues in a new thread here (click). See you there!
  9. I do not see anything in that list that could contain undisclosed gluten.
  10. Good point. There are flours and other things, such as xanthan gum, in gluten-free goods that are not typically found in other food products.
  11. The ability to email an archival copy of a Personal Conversation to yourself does indeed seem to have disappeared. I do not know if that is intentional or not.
  12. Well, Scott didn't do it, but by gosh, check out the first post in this topic.
  13. Let me ponder some of those points from my powerful perspective. Perhaps...
  14. The "root" of the problem has been found: That piece is over two feet long.
  15. Another blast from the past, in honoUr of Thanksgiving! Happy Thanksgiving to all.
  16. Since the upgrade, there have been some recurring issues. Scott is working on them. If you see any board error messages regarding the database, please let Scott or me know right away, by any means you can. I can contact Scott directly by phone. We are on page 3399, in case anybody hadn't noticed.
  17. The psillies organized a parade long, long ago to celebrate, well, psilliness. A thought for the old-timers: Let the Yeti lead! And have plenty of Altoids handy. To read about the 2007 parade, start reading here: Click the arrow in the title of the quote to be taken back in time.
  18. There are many articles out there, with more appearing all the time. What they all seem to have in common is that they are based on interviews or quotes from Jennifer Esposito. I have not seen anything that offers the story from the producer's perspective. I know someone here in Canada who was diagnosed years ago, and has been gluten-free for at least...
  19. MSG can be extracted from any protein. It occurs naturally in every protein as as glutamic acid. When the protein is broken down, the glutamate gets loose. If it finds sodium, it bonds, forming Monosodium Glutamate. Some people, including some celiacs, react to concentrated MSG. But it has nothing to do with celiac disease. If MSG is derived from wheat...
  20. I presume that you have a source for this that you can share with us--please do so.
  21. Your memory is the second thing to go. I don't remember what the first was.
  22. Yesterday afternoon, we had the vehicle looked at for the parking brake problem. A couple of seized parts needed to be freed up, but I was less than pleased at how they went about dealing with me. The guy said we'll know in twenty minutes. We'll wait, we said. Fifty-five minutes later, I inquire, and they still aren't ready. Then they want to sell me expensive...
  23. LOL! Don't look in my recreation room.
