  1. My daughter has a thyroid problem and pretty much avoids soy (she also has celiac).
  2. Yes it's safe as soy is gluten-free. But for some people, they get deathly ill from soy and therefore avoid it like the plague.
  3. I don't use many prepared products like that. For hash browns, Ore-Ida is gluten-free (as far as I know) or I like Simply Potatoes.
  4. I don't go out of my way to use products with soy in them but I don't purposely avoid them either. As far as I know, I don't have a problem with soy but others do.
  5. I tried one of the fried rice versions and really didn't care for it. I can do better. And I never did try the cheesy hashbrowns. So for those who like these products, now might be the time to stock up (reading the labels carefully during the changeover).
  6. Canola oil is my go-to oil and I also like olive oil. For hash browns, I use canola oil. Does your vegetable oil contain soy?
  7. If you use gluten-free Hamburger Helper, it will no longer be labeled gluten-free. More info here: Open Original Shared Link
  8. Kraft does not hide gluten...so modified food starch in Kraft products would be safe. If modified food starch would be made from wheat in any product, it would have to be listed. ETA: Are you lactose intolerant? Then you might have a problem with their ranch dressing.
  9. Why don't you try to do a lot of naturally gluten-free meals? I'm eating a lot of the same things I ate before going gluten-free...meat or fish, potatoes or rice, veggies, salads. My chili has always been gluten-free, pork and sauerkraut with mashed potatoes, soups, etc.. You might want to read through this entire thread and look at some of the recipes...
  10. Yes, Johnsonville sausages are gluten-free...but I check the label every time I buy them. Who knows if there might be some that aren't. I'm too lazy to make my own sauce but I always end up doctoring them up. I do have it over gluten-free pasta but see no reason rice wouldn't work. Tonight I used Mrs. Leeper's spaghetti (brown rice) for the first time...
  11. Dang, that would be difficult! I guess it's my emergency meal since I live alone. I like Jestgar's idea of using a crockpot. Or even to bake it in a large casserole...anything to make it easier for you. Hopefully one of those people to have leftovers for lunch the next day is YOU!
  12. I totally agree with frieze. Welcome to the club!
  13. Yummy! Breakfast for dinner is one of my favorites for a quick emergency meal.
  14. Sorry to hear that you are financially hurting, but I honestly think you can do better than just those things you are now eating. First of all...do you cook? It's almost essential if you're on a strict budget and you can make it so much better than anything you can buy. Watch the store specials...I recently bought canned veggies 3/$1.00 to donate to a...
  15. Your dinner sounds wonderful! I bought Johnsonville Italian Sausage with Sweet Basil, which will be added to a Classico pasta sauce (doctored up with more herbs, etc and put in a crockpot to simmer all day).
  16. Sounds yummy...and I'm hungry for pasta. Here I am once again reading this early in the morning. I'm going to take that package of Italian sausage out of the freezer and make spaghetti sauce for tonight. See, I really do need to read this thread early.
  17. I did considerably better tonight...guess it helps to read this thread at 7 a.m. I made a clean-out-the-fridge stir-fry (marinated chicken breast strips, celery, onion, mushrooms and broccoli in a sauce of San-J Tamari, ginger, garlic, cornstarch and sesame oil) and rice. Will have pineapple a bit later.
  18. I also had diprivan and thankfully it worked beautifully. I don't *think* I came out swinging but I was really loopy after the endoscopy but not so much after the colonoscopy. On each follow-up, my GI asked me if I felt anything and I didn't. And I don't remember a thing either...now that's all good!
  19. I guess I was fortunate. I had an anesthesiologist for both my endoscopy and colonoscopy even though I was not under general anesthesia. I can't imagine having either one any other way.
  20. Last night a food pill would have worked very well! Sometimes I have weird strange unusual meals but hey, whatever works! I think tonight I may do a stir-fry...a clean-out-the-fridge stir-fry. Or a big salad. At least I'm thinking about it and it's only 7 a.m. Yeah, cooking should be an adventure...and sometimes it is! But not last night.
  21. Right, it would take forever...especially when I live alone! And not a very balanced meal. Sometimes I think my dog eats better than I do! It was one of those nights after working in the yard and too tired to cook.
  22. Seasoning! Lots of it!!!
  23. Tonight I had a bunless burger, sweet potato fries and the leftover asparagus from last night. Sometimes I wish "people food" came in 30 lb. bags!
  24. Would you please PM me regarding the recipe.
