  1. I think your post are so wonderful, you are so supportivbe to everyone!

  2. I was just going to say "Bread" - specifically freshly-baked Multigrain Sandwich Bread (Annalise Roberts' recipe) . But then I decided I had better turn it into a ham sandwich and chips since it's getting late to eat here.
  3. I have a few favorite websites that I check if I want to find gluten-free recipes (just search for gluten-free xxxx and you'll usually find several recipes: Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link And, of course, your regular ol' cookbooks have a lot of recipes that are naturally gluten-free or can be made...
  4. Open Original Shared Link I got some of this last week and figured I'd try it for yeast bread as it's always my biggest challenge. It's supposed to make all baked goods - cakes, sandwich breads and more - lighter and moister and keep them fresh longer. I plan to try it with a bread recipe I've made before from Annalise Roberts' cookbook, Gluten-Free...
  5. Hi Marilyn, my KitchenAid mixer is heavy and if I didn't leave it out, I probably wouldn't use it as much as I do. I wish my kitchen was a bit bigger though as I've bought so many new things since going gluten-free. I do have the grinder attachment only because it was a promo freebie when I bought my mixer. I've never used it though. I know it's not...
  6. I don't worry about it either.
  7. I've never seen any makeup or personal care products that are labeled like that. Most of the time we see a bunch of ingredients and have a hard time figuring out what they are (in the U.S. at least)
  8. I have never heard of wine having casein in it. Period.
  9. Glad you had a successful Easter! I've never heard of any wine that has casein in it though...I like Chardonnay and haven't had a problem with it.
  10. Welcome to the forum! Sadly you are not alone in dealing with family, who just don't "get it"; even if they do, they don't know how careful we have to be to avoid cross contamination, or they don't take our diet into consideration at all when planning family meals, etc. You might have to start bringing some of your own safe foods or eat first and then visit...
  11. You can't assume that just because no one has not replied to your inquiries. I'm not at all familiar with Carlson vitamins nor do I know if anyone else here has tried them. A lot of companies are unable or unwilling to guarantee that there products are free of CC...or in some cases are unable to confirm the status of ingredients since they come from outside...
  12. Or cut them off and inject them with the Round Up concentrate...isn't it a systemic?
  13. Do thistle have a taproot? Perhaps you're not getting all of it. With the way it's been raining almostly daily here in PA, everything is growing like a weed. Another possibility is to buy the concentrated Round Up and mix it with a smaller amount of water in a spray bottle to make an extra strong spray and then spray each plant??? Or you might check...
  14. Another thought...since you'll have a 2-hour drive back home again, you might want to bring something to eat (not sure what that would be) as I was absolutely starved but only half an hour away from the hospital. Plus I was dehydrated when I went in (small wonder, huh?) and was very thirsty. I think they gave me a coke afterwards. The one good thing is...
  15. If you stick to a strict gluten-free diet, your risk is vastly diminished. I think a greater risk of cancer would especially apply to those to don't take the diet seriously.
  16. The ingredient list on the label will always trump those listed on the website. And it's true that something here in the U.S. may have different ingredients than in overseas markets.
  17. Welcome, Odysseys! In addition to what others have said, there are some books that you might find helpful: Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic by Dr. Peter Green and Living Gluten-Free for Dummies by Danna Korn The First Year: Celiac Disease and Living Gluten-Free by Jules Shepard And if you shop the outer rim of the store (foregoing processed foods...
  18. Susie, I think you're a very itelligent young lady and will find it easier to stand up to the people in your life as they try to sabotage your diet. It definitely helps when you get older to simply say NO and have people realize that you really mean NO. I know I had one friend who thought I had totally gone overboard (approaching OCD). Like, "not everyone...
  19. I had mine shortly before Christmas...wanted to get it over with before the holidays. The liquid diet was tough as I was starving. I could have coffee in the morning. Also had orange and peach Jello and after a certain hour, it was clear liquids only. I also had to avoid certain colors but don't recall what they were (red = my favorite strawberry and...
  20. Sorry to hear you're sick. Hope you feel better soon! I'm having a bunless hamburger and sweet potato fries. Been in the kitchen too long today.
  21. Actually I used bread crumbs (from a loaf that bombed...lol). I was going to try your corn meal and will do so in the future. Leftover mashed potato sounds good, too (wonder if you could just use instant)?
  22. Obviously she doesn't get it...nor is she a friend!
  23. Last night I had salmon patties, baby red potatoes and fresh asparagus. Yum!
  24. Plain rice cakes with peanut butter. Yum! Can't quite picture peanut butter on corn tortillas.
  25. A lot of photos are much too large. If you have a photo you'd like to use, want to email it to me and I'll see if I can resize it for you.
