  1. thanks for the tips I think the peanut butter (I would use nutella or jam in France, we're not so big on peanut butter and the kosher examples are great!! will try those and post the feedback... I always tend to be a bit nervous/ anxious before these "going to somebody's place/ explaining" moments...I am so new at his! but I have to admit, so far...
  2. Hi there I personally am trying to figure all that out right now... Think it might go back to teenage years for me (I am 27 now), where I became bloated every morning after breakfast/ having sleep & skin issues, migraines... didn't know a thing about gluten intolerance/ celiac at tat time, always put it on something else. but nothing else for...
  3. Well, I don't have much to add to the previous advice, I agree with all that's been said. Just wanted to drop a line for the support here... Congratulations for the grad school!!! I can relate to how you feel about the family. [i've tried to make my closest family members tested. So far, just my mother did it. blood work came back negative...
  4. everyone, THANKS! turns out, I think I am nervous sometimes 'cause you need time to make people understand all that, right? (considering how much time I need myself, just to understand what's happening to me...no surprise!) last week I was a little overwhelmed at a dinner party, didn't eat anything and didn't get to explain much, as it was crowded...
  5. thanks for all the input! I'm glad to see I am not alone there -well, for sure I am not the only one, but it feels good to hear everyone's experience! and buffetbride, you are so right! that's pretty much what I am trying to do in general -had a great conversation about that with some friends tonight; and if there is any possibility (and enough...
  6. Hi all I am back for some help, as usual Long story short, I am 1 month gluten-free, just got over a last-week glutening, feeling normal again...I love it! The thing is, I am still fairly new to all that...feeding myself is pretty ok now, but I still don't quite know how to handle other situations (going out/ travelling safely, mainly) I think...
  7. same for me (the "shutting down" of my digestive tract, it's exactly as described, amazing!) so far I'm only 1 month gluten-free, that cleared up completely after 2 weeks, felt fantastic -but got glutened last week and am still recovering... Sophie
  8. well, I'm still fairly new to all that (1 month gluten-free), but it seems that for me, the GI symptoms hit around a half day after accidental "glutening", and the rest of the symptoms (brain fog, rash...) arrive a couple days later...think I got glutened about 6 days ago, my digestive tract is getting back to normal (BM need time but insane bloating was...
  9. kareng, this time it was a typo but at times my sentences can seem strange -it's because I'm french welda, it's interesting. I am so focused on understanding the diet & feeling better now, that I didn't even think about how it must feel being an old pro of the gluten-free diet...I guess we all have our distracted moments, weather we're newbies or...
  10. Well, I think this is the first time I got glutened, so I have no idea how long this "usually" lasts...I guess I'll find out now
  11. Sorry for the title typo, I meant "..Venting a Bit" of course
  12. Here I am, 1month gluten-free and it has been great! But I think I got glutened last week -no idea from what exactly! So, I had the digestion symptoms coming back 5 days ago; took some gas-x and miralax the 1st day and it helped making them go away...my digestive tract feels ok now, but the fatigue/ brain fog, and my dyshidrosis & acne came back...
  13. Thanks to all of you for the replies I ended up eating some of the chocolate; it is delicious and I have no problem, 2 days after. So it is safe! I am still new to this and afraid to get "glutened" because I don't know what it'll do to me -I just remember how bad I felt before going gluten free, last month and I certainly don't want to go back there...
  14. thanks for your very quick reply! this is reassuring; I think I'll try it Sophie
  15. Hi all I bought this milk & banana chocolate earlier today, sounded safe but now I have a doubt...and it seems delicious so I'd like to have your opinions before I throw/ give it away The ingredients are ok (cacao mass, sugar, cacao butter, milk, vanilla, banana, coconut oil, honey)...except I just saw the "banana flavor" and I am not sure if this...
  16. Hi all First, I want to thank everybody, I've read the forum a lot these past weeks and it helped, big time! Then, just my story short: after 2 years of undiagnosed GI symptoms (among others) I finally went to see a doc and suggested gluten may have something to do with it... To my surprise, he was very attentive and said "yes of course, we'll test...
  17. Hi all I am new here, but I have been reading the forum for a little while...(thanks for the support!) As an introduction, I'll tell my story: 1,5 years of GI symptoms/ fatigue/ mood swings/ skin problems...never went to a doctor before because when I first experienced these symptoms I had just arrived to the US, no healthcare, stressful situation....
