  1. Hi there! I think you could feel that even that short a time after giving up gluten. And those are the exact symptoms I get too. Have you been tested? If not, you might want to consider that before you go gluten free......b/c once you are gluten-free, you won't want to go back.... I am in NJ too....where are you located? I'm in Union County.
  2. I marinated some pork tonight in Progresso Red Wine vinegar and immediately had ill effects. The vinegar is the only thing that could be the issue....besides the vinegar, I used garlic, olive oil, lemon, salt and pepper... Anyone have issues with red wine vinegar? The label does not say grain distilled but the website doesn't really offer much information...
  3. I'm not familiar with Wegman's brand. But their statement sounds pretty good. There can definately be "natural flavorings" that don't contain gluten. I think when people are wary of "natural flavorings" it's when they dont' know what's in them and they are not labeled gluten-free. I think I'll start going there more often though! Sounds like a...
  4. I've been gluten free now for about 2 years. I had first asked my allergist about gluten intolerance/celiac and he said the best test was to eliminate it and see if I felt better. I did eliminate it and fairly quickly felt better than I had my whole life. Then a new Celiac clinic opened up. And they were offereing Celiac screenings. So I contacted...
  5. I would try to give up dairy. I had to give up dairy about 6 months ago and felt a vast improvement with GI symptoms (and acne as well....). Too soy can cause joint pain if you ingest too much...b/c of the isoflavones... A while ago I was eating a Luna bar and a Choc. Soy milk for snack a day (about 45 isoflavones) and that was causing joint pain...as...
  6. SKITTLES!!! My fave and so yummy!! Only the fruit and cinammon Mike and Ike's are gluten-free...not the licorice ones.... I've always had gastro symptoms my whole life (34 years) but they really intensified after I had my first daughter at 30....been gluten-free for 2 years now...and dairy free for 6 months.

    ARCHIVED Should I Even Bother?

Marsha, have you researched Fructose Intolerance? That sounds like that could be your issue...you mention apples and raisins...which have a very high ratio of fructose to glucose. Look into that..Australia has a lot of emerging research on that area...
  8. Oh and oddly I can't eat apples (which were my favorite fruit)...gives me horrible internal gas...fructose issues I'm thinking. Dinner I'm pretty good on. B/c I have the time to cook and such. The problem really is simple, quick and filling snacks.
  9. Thanks! i'll have to try the Vegan Gourmet cheese. I had tried Daiya cheese (vegan as well) but that didn't agree with me....
  10. Thanks!! Where can you get Purefit and Go Free?
  11. Anyone have any good lunch and snack ideas? Lately I am just getting so bored with what I eat and seem to just eat the same thing over and over again. I am gluten free and dairy free. I usually do rice cakes w/ almond butter, soy milk...for snacks. Lunch a lot of times is left overs.... I try to stay away from the pre-packaged stuff b/c it's kind...
  12. Yes canker sores are a symptom of gluten intolerance/celiac. I actually have one canker sore that comes back in the same place when I accidentally eat gluten.....
  13. I find that Phazyme gas pills help with the pain....
  14. It really is such a pain! And then you start second guessing everything! It was definately easier before, though not healthier I realize. But it feels like a kick in the gut (no pun intended) to be so strict with what you eat, and then you end up much more sensitive. Well I think I'm going to completely make sure everything in my kitchen is ok and see...
  15. Hi there...my name is Kristin and I am new to this forum. I've been gluten free for about 2 years now. Despite a negative Celiac blood panel, I decided to go gluten-free after seeing a HUGE improvement in many chronic symptoms I've had for my whole life. I recently too gave up dairy in November of last year after seeing the return of some of those...
