  1. Thanks, Peter. I somehow managed to miss it.
  2. Me, too. Watch your back! We lurkers must stick together.
  3. You're right - I'm going for the rainbow. I always try to look on the positive side of things and see what I can learn from circumstances. It has been scary always wondering, especially traveling. And to think I had a few of those stupid dumb pudding thingers this past summer. No reactions then but that has changed. Sounds weird but it is actually sort...
  4. I am no longer receiving notifications of posts on threads I've subscribed to, although that option is checked off under my settings. How do I remedy this?
  5. YUCK. Now I know what it is like to be glutened. The first (obvious) gluten reaction in my life. Another accidental glutening happened awhile back but it was very, very mild. Just a touch ill. This? Um...lets say now I can relate. I've been wondering what would happen if I ingested gluten and BANG. It happened. Two days ago. I opened a pudding...
  6. With turkey leftovers I made an incredible soup. First, I roasted the bones with bits of meat still on them, to add a depth of flavour. Then the usual mirepoix, drippings, white wine, fresh herbs, etc. I added a few kinds of dried pasta (the yucky corn pasta I've had sitting around for ages I strongly dislike but goes well in soup). We are also having...
  7. I love jeans. It takes some doing to find jeans to suit different body types. I'm not thin (!!) but am tall so slightly curvy bootcut suits me best. Jeggings/leggings would look dreadful on me. Now that I've found the brand I love, I stick with them (Eddie Bauer).
  8. Oh, you must go to Germany! We love it there. My ancestors hail from Germany. In fact, more of them live there than in Canada. My cousin loves to spend time at our house in Croatia. He has been to over 100 countries (maybe I got the travel gene from him!) and his favourite is Croatia. I don't blame him. Glad you love cooking. I understand what...
  9. Yes! Carson. How could I forget him? I also like Edith's love interest (what is his name again?). He is so kind.
  10. You're right - you DO castles very well. They are stunning. I recall every single one I have been to. And no, sadly, I have not yet seen Carcassone. I had the chance in October but had too much back pain to go. Next time...
  11. I have a hankering for a Monte Cristo today.
  12. What did you think of the first episode of Season 3 last night? Any favourite/least favourite characters? This is the only show I will not be interrupted. The phone can ring all it wants, my tablet can beep all it wants but nothing is getting in my way of watching it. I am intensely involved. Funny as I am not really a TV or movie fan (prefering books...
  13. And I'm addicted to travel. There are so many thingers I love it's crazy. Not exactly inexpensive pursuits but the things I have experienced cannot be bought with any amount of money. Though I H A T E long flights (the pain nearly does me in each time but I keep telling myself to keep my eye on the prize) I still do it. I would have to rate my obsession...
  14. I was actually diagnosed with silent celiac. However, in retrospect, I can attribute some things to celiac such as miscarriages and weak fingernails. I'm losing more hair now than I used to but wonder if it is very premature/perimenopause because I have several other rather obvious symptoms of that (early menopause can be related to celiac, too, I understand...
  15. You know you love me.
  16. You've piqued my interest. I did not realize there were so many cultures there. How awesome that you are able to go to such great events! That is another thing so enjoyable about travel - different events that you just don't see elsewhere. Love 'em.
  17. Oh, yeah! That *is* what we said. I can tolerate neither so where shall I go?
  18. Me, neither. My lips are sealed. Oops. I mean SEALED.
  19. I've been to Utah and would have to agree. It is truly lovely. Now if only we could find a different culture and first language spoken in Utah - I'd be all over it! Sounds weird, but North America is not different enough for me. I suppose that is one of the 391,762,208,762 reasons I am so smitten with Europe. I'm a bit Europe hungry.
  20. ATTENTION!! OK. Now that I have your attention, we should brainstorm about the compound location. If I recall correctly, Colorado was mentioned. What other locations can we count as possibilities? As I started this I get to go first. (Not selfish or anything...) It should be a place with access to all sorts of wonderful fresh local produce...
  21. ...and if you can only find the cheapie stuff, just reduce it by half in pan and add a touch of brown sugar. Voila - better balsamic. This recipe would not be the place to use 50-year-old gold label aceto balsamico tradizionale de Modena!
  22. That is one good looking cupcake.
  23. How true! Who wants to be the IT department as we venture forth?
  24. Ah...I see. I have not yet seen any vinegars that contain gluten other than malt, of course. And I had also forgotten about the whole30 thinger. You're right. It CAN be complicated.
  25. Can you not have balsamic or do you not like it? Maybe I'm missing something...
