ARCHIVED Any Bean Info That You Can Give Me!
shayre replied to shayre's topic in Super Sensitive People
Hi TH! Gosh, I am no cook...that stuff is complicated...but I can start trying that stuff. I don't even have a food processor yet. I am working on trying to learn to cook more things, and getting more kitchen supplies. My family is soooo bored with our foods. I am too. Hey, you are the one who said that you had a hard time finding safe ground beef.... -
Yuck! Really? Yes, I don't react to steak, but just ground beef. Someone else on here said that they couldn't find clean ground beef, because they seem to use the same grinders for sausages with gluten, etc. I just attributed it to that. I actually have a "gluten" reaction from it. I have nueromuscular issues and brain fog from gluten, not necessarily...

Hi. Does anyone have any safe sloppy joe recipes? I can cook this for my family. Does any super-sensitive have a sloppy joe recipe that I could eat too? My first priority yummy food for my family, but it would also be nice to have a recipe for myself too! I find that I can react to ground hamburger too. I haven't found any that I can handle, but...

Hi again. I am trying to test out corn in my diet. I seem to be okay with small amounts, but then the last time that I tried I felt very sick. I love the Popcorn Indiana brand, but they only guarantee to 20ppm contamination. I also tried Donkey Chips tortilla chips, and I think that I felt a little issue. They did not respond to my ppm contamination...

Hi all:) I recently decided to try to add beans back into my diet for added protein and nutrients. I am nervous. I am very sensitive, and only don't seem to react to products at 5ppm contamination. Anything higher is a reaction. I just read archives, but the info seems dated. I just made white chicken chili for my family for tonight, and I'm afraid...

ARCHIVED Pls Tell Me Your Favorite gluten-free Products!
shayre replied to Aly1's topic in Super Sensitive People
I agree, I did just make gluten free brownies from Better Crocker for my hubby's bday. While I had some gut upset...I did not get glutened. Hurray! Yeah, Bob's Red Mill...I don't know why...buy I steadily go downhill on anything that they make. Nature's Path seemed ok sometimes, but then I think that it depends on the batch for me. They only test to ... -

If you feel that you must have processed foods, then I would recommend looking at labels for Enjoy Life, Lundberg, Kinnikinnick, Namaste and Gluten Free 123. I buy them for baked goods and chocolate. I am very sensitive, and they are the only ones that I don't react to from cross-contamination. I am ok with a little bloating sometimes from other ingredients... -
We also have our pets on grain-free food. We can buy it at small specialty stores, but Petco now carries quite a lot. We use Merrik Before Grains, Solid Gold, Eagle Holistic, Soulistic and there are others. I wouldn't touch the dog or cat food before we switched them. My hubby was out of town one day and as i closed the big dog food bag...the air and...

ARCHIVED Popcorn, Indiana Kettle Corn
shayre replied to pricklypear1971's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I thought that I might have gotten glutened from them. When I asked them...they said that they only test to 20ppm...which is still a level that i react to. When I questioned them further, they said that they only guarantee to 20ppm and wouldn't answer back on any more detailed info. Sad news for us who are very sensitive. I might test it again, but I... -
Well...I got advice from everyone on here...that I pretty much needed seperate everything. Glass and metal MIGHT be ok if washed very well. Plasic is definite issue. You should have your own area for cabinet or pantry, so that your food, dishes and utensils can remain untouched by others. I tried this with my family, but it still wasn't good enough. If...

Oh my goodness! I worked in several restaurants for years and years...before college, during and after. I, personally, could literally never survive in that atmosphere now! I get stressed out just thinking about it! I am very sensitive, and no one in my family handles gluten or has it in the house...or I'll be sick. And my family loves me, and tries hard...

I was like you when I started out gluten-free too. I was sooooo tired, and I don't know how to cook. It was just easier to buy prepackaged gluten-free food. I had 2 small children (one a new baby) to take care of. I just couldn't get a grip on my life. I realized that I was having issues with all of the packaged gluten-free stuff at some point, and...

shayre replied to shayre's topic in Super Sensitive People
Hi all. I'm sorry that it took so long to respond with the results of the testing. I did get hit with symptoms, and then both of my kids got sick with a virus that is still hanging on...then school and sport activities...been busy and way too tired. I did actually respond sooner, but I must not have hit reply...cause it's not here. Okay, so the 48... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Playdoh?
shayre replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi and thank you. Yes, it's terribly expensive. My son's teacher said that they use 25 little containers, and need replaced every 3 months or sooner. That is just for the morning kindergarden. The afternoon class would still be using regular playdoh in the same room and tables, etc. I guess that I will be forced to try to make it, and hope that it comes... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Playdoh?
shayre posted a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hi. My son started kindergarden, and he's been playing with playdoh while he is there. I am unsure if I'm reacting to it or if I will react to it. Plus, I will be volunteering once per month in his class. I am super sensitive. I found two brands of dough...Aroma Dough and Colorations? Has anyone used these? Which one is better, and more like Playdoh... -

What is "correctly"? If I have another, then I will try to make sure that it's done right. Well, at 2:30 today it will be 48 hrs. So far...nothing. I'm exhausted, but I don't think that has anything to do with gluten. I took some Benadryl yesterday, and it wiped me out. Then my 2 yr old kept me up all night last night. I had a little bit of leg... -
ARCHIVED Just Glutened Myself Alot On Purspose To Identify Reactions

First, I went through scope and biopsy right after I went gluten free. It hadn't been long, and I certainly hadn't worked through all of the areas where gluten might be. At that time, I had no idea what celiac disease really was. I was trying out gluten elimination, because I was testing maybe just having an allergy. When the biopsy came back negative... -

Hi all! Okay it in 3 hrs it will be 24 hrs since gluten ingestion began. Still...nothing. I did eat a big bowl of raisin bran last night for dinner too. I am less bloated this morning, but I am always less bloated when I get up. I actually just had a BM...another surprise. I am steering clear of any more gluten though until I see a response or not.... -

Hi. What bloating test are you talking about? I don't think that I understand what you mean? No to your question. The bloating has been really bad lately and getting worse...along with the constipation issues. I thought that it worsened from accidental gluten exposure. Now I'm not sure. -

I am very curious...what were your symptoms before getting diagnosis? What caused you to be tested? It's still too early to tell, but I guess that I wonder why I was so sure that I could tell a difference with minute amounts of gluten from cross contamination...then nothing when I pig out on it. 4 months on gluten challenge...I would never have dreamed of... -

Well, I felt a little stupid glutening myself. However, I just wanted to know what my gluten symptoms were EXACTLY...aside from other symptoms from problems like lupus or RA. Whenever, I would start feeling bad, I would wonder if I got exposed to gluten or is it a Lupus flare up, etc. Plus, sometimes I get brain fog and feel generally sick, most times... -

Hi there. Okay, I know that this seems like a completely crazy thing to do. I have been wondering about different vague symptoms that I have, so I thought that one day I'd just gluten myself to see what exactly my symptoms are to only gluten. Now all of these past couple of years I have been having getting better on a gluten-free diet. I would read advice... -
ARCHIVED Suggestions For Dedicated Facility Olive Oil Brands?
shayre replied to shayre's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Just so you all know. I did call Bertolli just now. They told me that it was safe with no chance of cross-contamination. Good news. I had just wanted to double check to make sure. -
I just had a friend who had blood allergy testing done. She came back allergic to something in the egg yolk, and also something in the egg white. She cannot have sulfides and egg whites are high in sulfides. Maybe it's sulfur bothering you all? It might be something to look into...
