  1. Hi Saracat It was fine, thanks for checking I had to have a colonoscopy as well (just routine) so the prep was horrible. Dr. said he took a ton of samples but also said just from the endoscopy it looked like classic celiac, he seemed quite certain...So here we go on a new adventure! I get my results in 3-4 weeks...
  2. As I went gluten free about 6 weeks ago for a month and had a very hard time (pain, pain pain in my joints, muscles and no improvement of symptoms) i am very anxious to try again. However, someone suggested i may have other food issues...So I am going to try a very basic diet. Question: Should I avoid gluten free cereals and crackers? Gluten free bread? I...
  3. Good luck tomorrow SaraKat! Let me know how it goes... I am in Canada so I expect my results will take FOREVER.
  4. thanks Sarah i remember your post about 10 months... my dietician said it can take a year...i guess we need to be patient. i have been so lucky with my health and this has blindsided me totally...
  5. thank you for reading and slapping I have been tested for antibodies to RA, Lupus, Sjogrens etcetc a whole host of other autoimmune stuff...all negative except for a spurious ENA result that did not get identified as anything in the labs panel, so the neuro is sending me for more testing to a rheumatologist..actually, I don't think I had the ESR or CRP...
  6. So, my sig has my details and I am going for a biopsy on Aug 31. Regardless, I am going to go gluten free right after that. I actually went gluten free from June 24 to July 26th but went back on gluten to get the biopsy. I have no real gut symptoms but felt absolutely awful when I went off gluten. So much bone pain, my legs and feet were so painful,I...
  7. My father died of colon cancer when he was 52. I was only 2 years oldbut my siblings said he had stomach problems for YEARS, took Maalox all the time etc....so who knows...
  8. hi there i am NO expert but there is a test called TTG, where they test the IgA TTG. However, many celiacs are low in IgA and therefore, I believe there is a test for the TTG that is for the IgG. SImilarly, there are test for gliadin that are for IgA and IgG. There is another test for celiac called an EMA that I believe does not depend on IgA levels at...
  9. So I have high antibodies and neuro symptoms, no real GI symptoms except huge weight loss. Over the last while I have noticed my stools are....umm.... soft. They look like tan mud, It isn't D, but they are sticky sticky sticky and soft and foul (I am SO so sorry for the TMI!!!)...I only go once a day, so not excessive (although when I go, there is lots...
  10. My biopsy is next Tuesday.....waiting patiently......I think the neuro crap can take a long time to heal. I just want to know what's wrong with me (as I know you do for yourself as well) Keep us posted!!! ada
  11. What did your doctor say? I have very high TTG,positive AGA and neuro problems. Biopsy next Tuesday...I hear about false negatives all the time, so do Dr's tend to believe bloodwork or biopsy more? Just curious. Hate to say it but I hope he finds something. ada
  12. Yikes, this sounds hellish I am currently waiting for biopsy but my symptoms are neurological (ie bad painful neuropathy and high antibodies). I saw a dietician and she said it can take a year or more to heal and feel better....Not to discourage you, these things may just take some time. I am no expert, but I certainly do wish you well! (Interesting about...
  13. thank you...i was so overwhelmed by the neuro, all i could do was cry. and i am actually in canada, so with our health care, it takes FOREVER for anything to happen. June 7, my GP got the blood work and scheduled the referral to the GI. GI appt. for a CONSULT only was going to be Aug 31st and the biopsy scheduled sometime after (usually a few months...
  14. my neuropathy seems to be small fiber, so no muscle wasting that I am noticinf, just pain pain pain...
  15. I am scheduled for biopsy Aug 31. My symptoms have been bad neuropathy, anxiety, depression, weight loss (25 pounds since Feb) no appetite, some nausea, but no real GI symptoms like D though...My B12 and Iron were marginal and vit D was a little low. This all started in Feb of this year. Went to neurologist for the neuropathy and he scheduled the celiac tests...
  16. WOW! I suffer from bad neuropathic pain as well, although i am not officially diagnosed yet (have biopsy on aug 31), so sill eating gluten you gave me HOPE that i may see some relief. May I ask how you knew corn was a problem? And I am definitely going to looking into accupuncture as well! This is great news!
  17. I have never had acid reflux, don't really know what it is. I have had a long standing sore throat and last night I felt a slight "burning" inside down my chest and into my stomach. Not unbearable but noticeably different than normal. Took a few rolaids and throat seems a bit better today. Could this be the cause of my throat and tongue problems (burning...
  18. I am still awaiting biopsy and to refresh, my TTG was >200 (range <10) as well as having IgG AGA and IgA AGA (both around 30, range <10). NO GI issues, but bad neuropathy. I cannot find a definitive list as to what else causes ttg to be elevated, except for some vague references to "other autoimmune conditions"..To me, that makes the test not sound...
  19. So i am taking a bunch of supplements, still on gluten, waiting for biopsy... Wondering though, if Celiacs can't absorb nutrients properly, would you expect a similar problem with supplements? They seem to be doing nothing to make me feel better. I have this burning tongue that seems to get relief from a B12 shot (it takes a few days and then clears up and...
  20. i'm in canada,so i am very lucky to even get it this fast. it's only been 2.5 months....sigh....i was off gluten for a month (although it didn't make any difference in my symptoms) and have been only on for two weeks. i admit, i feel horrible and the weight loss is so scary. i may touch base with my GP tomorrow to let her know what's up....
  21. I am not "officially" diagnosed. I had a ttg of >200, and IgG and IgA gladin of about 30 (each test had normals of about <10)...I have NO GI symptoms, but bad neuropathy pain. I am going for a biopsy on August 31, so am eating gluten. These test results were at the request of a neurologist, grabbing at straws i think. He still doesn't even think it...
  22. For me it is terrible small fiber peripheral neuropathy that sent me to a neuro that for some reason decided to check me for celiac and my ttg was off the charts. i am still awaiting biopsy and am truly in hell with this...no GI symptoms.
  23. Hi I am from Ontario and I had a "celiac panel" ordered by a Dr. that was done by gamma-dynacare labs. THey tested for IgA Antigliadin, IgG Antigliadin and transglutanimase (sp). It cost 125.00 and OHIP did not pay for it, which is shocking to me.
