ARCHIVED What Would You Have Done In This Restaurant Situation?
diane64 replied to SaraKat's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would (and have) sent it back. I ordered a meal at Chili's, but it came with gravy on the potatoes. I had explained to the waitress that I have celiac, can't have gluten, etc. She was rather confident when she assured me that she has been a waitress for 20 years...I sent back the meal after she offered to scrape the potatoes off! I had two managers come... -
It's been almost 3 months of gluten free living for me. I felt better after a month or so. I feel really great now- much more positive and confident. It is a pain to give up gluten at times- especially at parties, restaurants, etc. I am very careful and when it doubt, I don't eat it! I agree with a post above- eat the naturally gluten free foods. You...

diane64 replied to diane64's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the info. My sister has anxiety issues, and has trouble sleeping. She also has hand and foot tingling. I will pass the info on to her! She goes to the dr on Thurs. It is amazing to me that drs know so little about celiac!! Diane -
ARCHIVED Fibromialgia ?
diane64 replied to diane64's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Thanks for the responses. My sister has a physical this week. I told her that she must ask for a celiac test! She mentioned celiac to her dr (neurologist or rhemotologist) who didn't think that fibro and celiac are related. I told her that many doctors don't know about celiac. Thanks again! Diane -
Hi all, I was diagnosed with celiac this summer. I have been encouraging my siblings to get tested (my parents tested negative), but they have not done so as of yet. MY sister was just diagnosed with fibromialgia. She has some other celiac symptoms- anxiety, fatigue. Is fibro. related to celiac? Thanks, Diane

I am new to gluten free- about 2 months. I am feeling so much better! I was told: dedicated toaster dedicated cutting board new cooking utensils if the old ones/ones used for cooking gluteny foods are plastic or rubbery I have gluten eaters in my family. I cook my pasta first, then theirs. I wash my hands a lot!! Hope this helps! -
My antibodies plummeted after no gluten for just 3 weeks...

I am so sorry. I have been there too. Take care of yourself and take the time to heal!

It is good to know that I am not the only one who feels frustrated. I have been gluten-free almost 2 months. I went to my first wedding after going gluten-free. My friend, the bride, arranged a gluten-free meal for me, which was very thoughtful. But before dinner...I had to watch everyone enjoy the cocktail hour (I didn't dare try anything). Then came...

I have been gluten-free for about 2 months too. I just wanted to recommend Udi's bread. It is very good- tastes like real bread! I am learning more every day. It is challenging at times, but worth it!

I hope everything works out for you!!! Diane

I read that Chapstick has gluten in it. It was on these boards awhile ago. I don't use it any more.

ARCHIVED Question About Cross Contamination After Going gluten-free
diane64 posted a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have been gluten-free for about 5 weeks, following my endoscopy. I have a question about cross contamination: I find myself washing my hands a lot. I worry that by closing a cabinet, touching the food bag, etc I will pick up some gluten. Is this possible? Thanks! Diane -
ARCHIVED Levsin
diane64 replied to diane64's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
My bowel issues are better overall. It's been about 5 weeks since I am gluten free. I am going to hold off until I can talk to the dr in person (next week). Thanks for the advice! -
ARCHIVED Levsin
diane64 replied to diane64's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for the info. I don't know why I should take fibercon. It says that is is for constipation. That is the exact opposite of my problem. I go in next week to see the dr, so I may wait and talk to him about it first. -
I am newly diagnosed and have been gluten-free about a month. My regular dr is prescribing levsin for me and also telling me to take fiber con. I am also seeing my gastro dr in a few weeks, so I'll run this by her. Has anyone taken levsin or fiber con? Thanks!

ARCHIVED Tested Negative This Time?
diane64 replied to diane64's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thanks for all of the advice. I called back again and explained that I was diagnosed with celiac, had an endoscopy and am gluten free. The woman who called with the test results did not know that. I am guessing that her job is to call with test results without the benefit of knowing the medical history of the patient! I asked her to check with the doctor... -
ARCHIVED Tested Negative This Time?
diane64 posted a topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
I was tested in April (blood) for celiac and was told that I might have it. The gastroenterologist said I have celiac, even before the endoscopy. The endoscopy results were "unremarkable". I went to my regular dr for a physical and he retested me for celiac. The office just called and said that I DON'T have celiac. I am going back in on Aug 18 (earliest...
