  1. Thanks to all you guys. I really think my daughter has Celiac because all the symptoms she has had for years but when I told her mine she said she didn't have any of those. She also had had a lot of problems getting pregnant and she was married six years before getting pregnant. Can anyone be specific about what blood tests should be ordered.
  2. That is nice to know. I like doing breakfast there and I love their grits. I know they weren't listed on their gluten free list but can't think of why grits would be off limits. I am a northerner turned southerner since being married to an Alabama guy.
  3. I really liked the book because I am new to this and it was so helpful, but I am glad to know that they have a web site that updates the book. As a newbee it is still confusing for me to read labels.
  4. I am a new Celiac. I told my daughter to ask her doctor about being tested. She was told if she didn't have any symptoms that she didn't need testing. Is this not true or is this just a doctor who doesn't know enough about Celiac. I haven't had time yet to go through this whole web site to check this out.
  5. I am just getting ready to make a salmon pate that uses McCormick onions. Is it a consensus of opinion that McCormick onions aren't safe to use?
  6. I can't remember why I brought it but am pretty sure it was before I was Diagnosed with Celiac so I wasn't checking labels. It will be pure from now on.
  7. I use the book all the time. It really helps with the shopping but today I had some Wal-Mart pancake syrup that was on the books gluten free list but the syrup said that it may contain traces of wheat. I would think that would have taken it off the list in the book. Anyway I will still use the book but I will also have to read labels to double check.
  8. Sometimes steaks aren't good even at good resturants. I would try again. I went last week and they had a new dish so I tryed it. It was pork roast with a sweet sauce and red potatoes. It was very good.
  9. I have a glutn free grocery shopping book that says that Ortega refried - fat free and regular are gluten free
  10. Last month I contacted Estee Lauder by phone and found out that most of their lipsticks are gluten free but I am out of town and don't have the information with me. As I remember only the ones that have the gold tops had gluten. The ones with the black tops don't.
  11. I am confused. I have the book Cecelia's Marketplace Gluten free grocery shopping for 2009-2010 and it says Dannon plain(Activia 24oz, Low fat, Natural and Nonfat are gluten free.
  12. I use to love going to Cracker Barrel resturant. Does anyone know if I went for only grits, bacon and eggs if it would be safe to eat them. I think their apples are ok too but I don't know about the grits.
  13. I have a book that says Wal-Mart's butter flavored pancake syrup is gluten free but on the label it says it may contain wheat. I usually trust the book and don't check the labels but I guess it is good to check both.
  14. I felt that I urinated less often after going gluten free. My theory is that I have less bloating and so there is less pressure on my bladder, makes sence to me.

    ARCHIVED Ambien

Thanks, that is the one I take. I was worried about taking Ambien but even it wasn't helping. Now for several days I have been much better and I do believe I was having a gluten attack and it also was causing my sleep problems. I didn't know they go together. If I can stay gluten free than maybe it will help my sleep. The only thing I did to my knowledge...
  16. I am curious if Sleep Apnea is related to Celiac. I was diagnosed with Sleep Apnea 5 years ago and went through several masks and was never really happy with the results. I think partly because I am a women and my hair would make the masks slip off. Anyway 2 years ago my sleep doctor said I may do well with a mouth piece to wear at night. It brings your lower...

  18. I know there are problems with any new drug but I am a new Celiac and I would like to be part of this study. How do I get the information?

    ARCHIVED Ambien

I have a drug list that says Ambien is gluten free. My doctor ordered it knowing I am a Celiac but did order the generic brand. Does anyone know if Ambien is gluten free. I have used Melatonin and it doesn't help much. My sleep problems are even worse since I have been gluten free for 6 weeks.
  20. I am always thankful for all the responses. I just don't really know yet what I might be doing wrong or if I am just being impatient. The problem is I was diagnosed by accident, having gone in for another problem, had an endoscopy and I ended up with a biopsy and a celiac diagnosis. I am not even that sure what a gluten attack might feel like although sometimes...
  21. I have gotten worse since going gluten free but then it has been almost a year since I had blood work done so maybe other thinks have gotten worse. I am wondering if I take vitamins if they will be absorbed right anyway since I am a long way from healing. I think I am just wishing the healing process would hurry up because I can't say I feel much better and...
  22. There is a company called Beauty Control that offers gluten free face care and makeup. People can order on-line. I have use one of there products for years and plan to switch to all their products now that I am a Celiac.
  23. I am a new Celiac of 6 weeks. I have been on Thyroid medicine for over a year. I am thinking it is my thyroid medicine causing my insomnia and sometimes hyperactive during the day so I have tried decreasing my thyroid medicine a little until I get my blood work done in a month. Maybe it has helped with the daytime feelings but I get very little sleep at night...
  24. I can sympathize with you. It seems to me that most people talk about diarrhea only. I am a new celiac and I only have constipation and it has gotten worse with a gluten-free diet. I am guessing there isn't enough fiber in the diet but don't really know what I am doing wrong so I too would like a comment from other celiac's out there with the main problem...
  25. Thanks I will try that for now. By the way I love Chocolate too. Land O Lakes has a good chocolate chip cookie recipe.
