  1. If you have a Whole Foods near you, they stock a lot of gluten-free items... The one near me in Massachusetts has an aisle specifically for gluten-free products. As well as a new bakery section with all their gluten-free bakery items (made in a gluten-free bakehouse). I practically live at Whole Foods now! However, it is an expensive store so I am not...
  2. I saw the episode of Yes Dear this week! I also noticed that when Greg replied to his brother and law about the gluten-free cake and wanting to be able to have a piece too, Greg was holding a can of beer (budweiser it appeared to be)!! So, I guess they are trying but still do not have all the facts of our disease pinned!
  3. The only lower carb gluten-free cereal I could find: Nu World Foods Amaranth O's (in plain or Strawberry). They have only 6 or 7 grams of net carbs (after subtracting dietary fiber). I ordered some from glutenfreemall.com They are pretty good...for a low carb cereal. Hope this helps!
  4. I know this is getting off the subject of this post.. But has anyone tried Stevia? It is suppose to be the most natural of the calorie-free sweeteners...with no artificial additives... Does it cause gastrointestinal discomfort like the others (splenad, nutrasweet, etc.)
  5. I notice you mentioned that the jello was "sugar-free". Perhaps the artificial sweetener in it bothered your stomach? Some sugar-free products tend to upset my stomach...(not from gluten contamination but from the artificial sweetener used).
  6. Mya... I too am addicted to the Soy Crisps.... I love the Cheddar cheese ones. The company says they all the soy crisps are gluten-free....but they can not guarantee that there is no cross contamination because they are not produced on dedicated lines. I ate a bag of these a day (no lie). However, I have been gluten-free for a year and got back blood...
  7. I found these crackers at Whole Foods called Casabe Rainforest Crackers... They are gluten-free and have 5g of fiber per serving (5 crackers)... They taste like melba toast... The website where you can find them is www.fortitudebrands.com Also I have one or two LaraBars a day. They have around 5 or 6g of fiber per bar and are gluten-free, dairy free...
  8. Viactiv Chews are a great way to get Calcium and Vit D.... They taste like candy and provide 500mg Cal per chew.. I have 2-3 a day...
  9. Do you have a Whole Foods near you? They have the most delicious pre-made cakes delivered to their stores from a new gluten-free bakehouse they established in North Carolina (the building is dedicated completely to gluten-free baking). They have all kinds of breads, cookies, cakes. I bought this lemon-poppy-seed cake last week and it was sooooooo good!
  10. I do not know my temp, but I am ALWAYS freezing. No matter where I go...I am always bundled up in many layers. In blood tests that I have taken, my iron levels have been very very low. I assumed my being cold was related to low iron and anemia?
  11. Enzymatic Therapy has a product called "Fatigued to Fantastic"..... Suppose to give you energy and several nutrients. Has anyone heard of and or used this product?
  12. I do eat a lot of those Genisoy Soy Chips and Trader Joe brand soy chips. Supposedly, both of these brands are gluten-free. Has anyone had a problem with these?
  13. thanks for your posts! I have been making myself insane today, looking up info on refractury celiac. I concluded that I have intestinal cancer and cried my eyes out for an hour! (my dad passed away this summer from cancer and that subject is just way too raw for me right now). I am thinking maybe I should just really stick to veggies, fruits, plain meats...
  14. Hello! I was diagnosed with Celiac in February of 2004 (with a positive blood test and endoscopy). I had all the symptoms and suffered many consequences of celiac....upset/bloated stomach, weight loss, fatigue, malnutrition, weak bones, etc etc. I have followed a strict gluten-free diet since my diagnosis. I call or email every company before eating any...
  15. So would all vodka's be ok? I have stayed clear of Stoli and Absolut as they are distilled from wheat grain. I have only had potato vodka...which is very hard to find when you are out at bars! I miss my flavored vodkas!
  16. Has anyone had a bad reaction to Tostitos (Frito-lay brand) and or know if they are produced on a dedicated line??
  17. I always order steamed chicken with vegetables (and brown rice) and bring my own gluten-free soy sauce (or other sauce) for added flavor! I personally do not trust any other items on the menu!!
  18. Hello! Has anyone checked out the website celiacchicks.com?? Two gals who live in NYC,have Celiac Diesease, and maintain a website with all their gluten-free discoveries in NY! Great site!

  21. I am wondering if anyone has tried Olivio brand buttery spray? I wrote to their website asking if this product is gluten-free and I got this response: Thank you for your interest in Olivio Premium Products. To the best of our knowledge, none of the ingredients found in the Olivio spread or spray contain traces of wheat, rye, barley and oats making it...
  22. I want to include store-bought canned bamboo shoots in a stir-fry. I assumed these were vegetables. A bamboo shoot is actually the stem of grass. Does anyone know if bamboo shoots are gluten-free? Thanks!
