  1. I know you waited a long time to get in with this GI, but maybe you should consider goint to Beth Israel and meeting with a GI there? They have a celiac research center! I personally see a GI at Newton-Wellesley who is great, but I went to the Beth Israel Celiac Research Center for a celiac study in the beginning of the summer. I met with the nutritionist...
  2. I definitely will let you know how it is! Yes, they have quite a few restaurants in RI. Seems they all have gluten-free options too!
  3. My sister and I are doing a girls night and going into Providence over Labor Day weekend and are going to try the North End Cafe in North Providence. I called and spoke to the manager. He said to just come in and ask for the gluten-free menu. He also indicated that he is working on getting the menu on their website. The only places I have eaten since going...
  4. Ha, this could get ugly! I am emailing with my sister right now and I think we may go this Saturday evening (she has celiac as well)... Do you live in the area?
  5. Thanks for the info! I am moving to Mansfield in the next couple of weeks so will not be far from there. I am excited to try this place! Sorry to hear about your aunt and your mom's vision. Maybe I will see you at Rancho's...I will know who is hogging the gluten-free menu if it is unavailable
  6. I was looking into going to this restaurant (as I LOVE mexican food). I did not see the gluten-free menu or mention of it online, so I called the restaurant and spoke to the manager. He seemed a bit confused and did not leave me feeling very safe about eating there. So I decided against going. I was hoping to hear from someone on this forum who may have...
  7. Go to www.glutenfreerestaurants.com They have some gluten-free restaurants listed for RI and MA. Also, OUtback, PF Changs, Pizzeria Uno, Bugaboo Creek, all are located in both states and have gluten-free menu's (they have the menu's online as well). good luck!
  8. I really like these bars called Elev8me! They are similar to the Lara bars (in that they are made from fruit and nuts). However, they also have whey protein and therefore have 18 grams of protein. The website is www.prosnack.com if you want to check them out! (They are made in Canada though and therefore need to be ordered online).
  9. Christine, I personally choose to stay away from the brown rice. From what I have been told, the kitchen is set up so that all the gluten-free orders are prepared in a separate area. As the brown rice is just considered gluten-free by nature and served to everyone at the table, I am not sure it is prepared in a dedicated and safe area (who knows if it...
  10. Yes, have been to the Boston one numerous times. They have the menu in the restaurant as well and the waitors seem pretty knowledgible about the gluten-free menu. I have even sat at the bar and had success ordering dinner there (the bartender enters your order on a computer and you can see that they enter it as a "gluten free" order!) Are you going sometime...
  11. If you are looking for something to grab on the go, these Elev8me bars a great! They are high in fibre and protein and very tasty! Check them out at www.prosnack.com A family located in Canada makes the bars, so they are not available in many(if any) stores in the US. I order them online, but the cost and shipping are very reasonable. I eat one a day...
  12. Everything is good there! I have eaten there several times successfully but have gotten sick a few times. What time are you going? The place is very very busy for dinner and I might suggest going at an off time to avoid confusion in the kitchen! Whenever I go, there is a different server that brings out the food (as in not the waiter who I placed the...
  13. There is a Legal's at the Burlington Mall (Burlington borders Billerica). The mall is right on Middlesex Turnpike. I have had great success at that particular Legals. There is also an Uno's in the mall and they now offer gluten-free options (look on their website)..although I have never eaten there. Outback Steakhouse is also in Burlington...not too far...
  14. I can always tell the " very newly diagnosed" by how disoriented and over-whelmed they look staring at the gluten-free filled shelves! I don't envy that stage...it took me a good two years to get the hang of it (still w/ some blunders of course)!
  15. I had the cheese pizza and loved it. They are very low carb but not low in calorie or fat. However, the pizza is very filling as a meal... I highly recommend both the pizza and the cakes!! The shipping cost on the pizza is quite high though... where is that?
  16. as long as we do not start sniffing eachothers' bums!
  17. I have not met anyone in restaurants, but have at my local Whole Foods. This one particular store has a "gluten-free" aisle and everytime I am in it there will be someone else searching through the gluten-free items. Usually we will spark up a conversation about celiac, diagnosis, gluten-free diet, etc. Once I talked to a woman for 45 minutes! I thought...
  18. I recently discoverd the most delicious gourmet tea cakes and low-carb pizzas made by Madwoman Foods. The tea cakes are casien and gluten-free and come in many different flavors. My favorite is the Lemon-Poppyseed! They are low glycemic and lower carb. Here is the ingredient list for the Lemon-poppyseed cakes: Almonds, eggs, Whey Low (natural low-carb...
  19. I have had reactions to the Tostitos and Baked Lays in the past. So now I stay away from the Frito-Lay products that are not produced on a dedicated line... There have been several posts in the past of others who have had problems as well..
  20. "I hate it when people point out my weight. Today, I bought a whole bunch of food at the grocery store, and one of they girls behind me wispered to her friend, "I don't know why she's buying all that food, it's not like she's going to eat it" and the other girl made a comment about how gross I looked. I wanted to tell them that I don't want to look like this...
  21. Do you have a Whole Foods near you? Whole Foods carries Running Rabbit and all the flavors are yummy!
  22. Can't wait! Thanks for posting! Although I really enjoy the Ians chicken nuggets right now, it will be nice to try something different...
  23. I personally have never been, but if you go on the PF Changs website, it appears that they have a few locations in Las Vegas. Good luck!
  24. I have seen the regular bell & evans nuggets at Whole Foods in MA, so I am assuming that they will carry the gluten-free ones as well (or we at least hope!).
  25. I would love to join, although I can't committ just yet. My good friend who moved to Florida last September is back home that weekend for the first time since she left (and I have not been to visit yet!). So I am not sure what the plan will be and if I will be doing something w/ her that evening... I will let you know next week if that is ok!
