  1. Amazon has GREAT deals on gluten-free items...and if you spend over $25 there is free shipping! They have hundreds of gluten-free items too... Just go on the website and go to the "grocery" section...you can narrow your search by typing in "gluten-free".... Great deals!
  2. They are very good..I hope you find them! I eat them constantly....they are good for a quick snack by themselves as well... (with a few squirts of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" no-fat buttery spray, they taste just like buttered popcorn!)
  3. They should be in the same aisle with the rice cakes (they come in the same type of packaging and they also look like rice cakes). I have found them in the Wild Harvest section of Shaw's and also with the rice cakes in Whole Foods. They are made by Real Foods.....website is www.cornthins.com
  4. There is a place in Burlington (on Middlesex Turnpike near the mall) called Woodwards. They sell Bards by the six pack for $13. I picked up two packs last week... Betty.. Are you aware of the Amazon grocery section having an entire line of gluten free items? They sell the Sensible Foods corn and fruit snacks for soooooo much cheaper (ends up being...
  5. I put peanut butter on one corn thin and cream cheese on another corn thin and made a sandwich...sounds kind of strange but it was really good in my opinion!
  6. Betty.. I was diagnosed with a biopsy and blood tests... And when I do get "glutened" my stomach hurts for almost a week...anything I eat for that whole time worsens the stomach pains. I get this really full, distended belly with even the smallest of amount of food...
  7. I know, it really is awful. If a non-celiac had a day in the life of a glutened celiac, they would never look at us funny for anything again! I hope you don't get these pains after eating at Rancho CHico! My sister went this weekend with her husband...I had other plans and was unable to make it... But soon I will!
  8. Betty, I too get SEVERE stomach/intestine pains when glutened. Sometimes are worse than others. There are times that I am keeled over on the floor crying for about 12-16 hours....excruciating pain with NO remedy. My primary doctor actually prescribed me painkillers to take for when this happens..those lessen the pain somewhat but not completely! The...
  9. Wow...I can't believe I am so close... I live less than ten minutes away! My sis and I LOVE mexican....this could become a regular for us too!
  10. Is the rt 1 exit number 14(Gilette Stadium)?
  11. Come to think of it, I think you told me about Rancho Chico awhile back.... I really miss Mexican and need to get there soon! Yes, Legal's is pretty expensive...
  12. Betty, Where is the mexican restaurant you go to? Thanks! I go to Legal's in Burlington about once a month and have never had a problem...they seem very careful about everything. Usually I have a manager come out and talk to me without even asking to see him/her (they must be alerted each time there is a special order). In the bar area the tables...
  13. It seems that they are pretty new at it though...from what I have heard they are not nearly as far along as Outback. So you may have to explain things a bit more thoroughly than restaurants like Outback, Legals, and PF Changs. I am thinking to try the one in Burlington soon, as I work a couple miles away...but of course have been a bit nervous as I am sure...
  14. I have not been personally, but saw on another post that someone successfully ate at the Bugaboo in Burlington, MA.
  15. Do you use just a regular blender....one that you would use for shakes, drinks, etc?
  16. Yeah! Those are my favorite!
  17. Do you know if this also means the Farley pumpkins (candy corns shaped like pumpkins) are gluten-free?
  18. I think it really is! I never had swollen lymph nodes in my neck before being diagnosed with celiac. I have been following the gluten-free diet for 2 and a half years. My blood tests have been coming back fine over the last year. Well about a month and a half ago I felt a couple of swollen lymph nodes in my neck and was feeling pretty awful all the...
  19. Caryn, I am 32 years old, diagnosed 2.5 years ago with celiac disease. Prior to being diagnosed I was very thin and missed my period for about a year. I exercised quite a bit (ran about an hour or more seven days a week on a treadmill). Thinking back, I also think celiac had something to do with my low weight and my missed periods. At the time though...
  20. That is what I am thinking too. Come to think of it, I think Bell & Evans regular chicken nuggets are not that much less in price... They are just a high-quality product with a high quality price! If I can have something taste so good and is safe to eat, then the price is worth it! I need to go buy more as I only bought two boxes as a trial...
  21. I had these for the first time this weekend and oh my gosh are they good! My sister and I sat there eating them together (we both have celiac disease) and kept saying "wow" and "yum" throughout the meal! Really they are delicious. Pricey though...$6.50 a box at my Whole Foods... But they are worth it!
  22. I too was very thin when I got diagnosed. I am 5.4 and I was down to about 97lbs. It took me almost two years to get better...(I had blood tests done every 6 months and each came back showing that I was still getting gluten in my diet somehow!). It took me watching everything I ate and being very careful about cross-contamination to finally, after two...
  23. Not sure how far you would travel, but there are some Italian restaurants in Rhode Island. I am going to try the North End Cafe in North Providence in a few weeks! Go to www.glutenfreerestaurants.com Pinelli's Restaurant Group is the one I am referring to. On the bottom of the online menu for North End Cafe, it says "ask about our celiac menu!".......
  24. Where do you live? There are usually restaurants specific to a certain area, perhaps others can help you with that if they know the area you live in!
  25. Somehow they contacted me to participate in a celiac research study (I can't recall how they got my name).... So really I went for the study and not for medical reasons. If you go to that website, click on "our celiac disease center team". It gives you a list of all the doctors. I think Daniel Leffler, MD is the head of the GI. Maybe you can just call...
