Peter is it listed as gluten or something else? I think with Shampoo for example, you could easily get it in to your mouth.

I'd love to know the names of which ingredients to look out for in skincare products.

ARCHIVED Problem With Snacking
realmaverick replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I don't mind meat. But when I have to eat a lot of it, I end up physically sick for some reason. For example on Atkins, I find it impossible to create energy from protein and fats. Once I forced myself to do it for a month and I felt sick and weak for the whole time. However mixed with some carbs I should be ok. The truth is, I like mainly junk food containing... -
ARCHIVED Problem With Snacking
realmaverick replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks. I just replied to your post too haha. I think perhaps, I need some planning and structure. 6 small meals; 9am - Cereal (Gluten free) 11am - Fruit Lunch - This is where I always struggle 3pm - Fruit / Yogurt Dinner - Meat, potatoes, veg 8pm - Maybe a junk food to keep me sane -
ARCHIVED Mini Food Binges
realmaverick replied to runningcrazy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm doing something similar. But unfortunately not eating as healthily as you are and I'm eating crap all day long. It's depressing me as I know it will cause weight gain. I think it's all about balance. Luckily you're generally eating healthily. So include a couple of treats each day, to remove the deprived feeling. That will help stop the weekly crash... -
ARCHIVED Just Diagnosed: How To Keep Eating Enough?
realmaverick replied to GFshay's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm struggling like crazy. I'm eating way too much junk. Though if it were not for processed gluten free foods, I'd have starved to death. I personally couldn't agree with the advice to cut out all processed foods, sugary foods etc. It's hard enough gutting out gluten, surely going to that extreme should be taken in steps? I'd honestly be torn between... -
ARCHIVED Lactase Supplement -- Silly Me...
realmaverick replied to Monklady123's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm hoping I don't ever have an issue with dairy (which I may). If I'm still getting ill gluten free, it would be an avenue to explore. But damn, I've tried all of the other kids of milk and I literally HATE them. So I'd be screwed. My diet would then consist of about 10 items. -
Hey guys, Before I started my gluten free diet, just over 4 weeks ago, I was eating really healthy. Since going gluten free, due to the lack of foods I can eat, I'm always grabbing gluten free junk. Crisps (chips), chocolate bars and other crap. I also feel more hungry than normal, which seems odd. If anything, I'd have guessed it would be the other...

ARCHIVED Can This Be Happening?
realmaverick replied to kaki-clam's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Aww that's really awesome. I love people who have such amazing levels of consideration. It's rare. He's most likely the kind of guy, who will go out of his way to put a smile on your face too. -
Yeah, not much. You can view your friends though, from your profile. Also when starting a new Private Message, it makes sending to friends a little easier. In later versions of this forum software, it's more powerful. Allowing you to easier see friends updates and activities. I hope they upgrade the board soon, to the latest version.

Good ideas, I'll have to watch what I'm eating more off. I'd say I'm having more milk. But what's odd, is that it keeps happening in the evening. I've just got a new Tassimo T disk machine, each evening I have a Latte. I'm wondering if that's related. I couldn't see any gluten ingredients on the box but then again it doesn't strictly specify Gluten free...

ARCHIVED Had The Most Annoying Dinner Last Night
realmaverick replied to jasonD2's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Sorry to hear about your dinner. But really, you gotta try address the way you allowed yourself to feel about something, which is nothing to be embarrassed about. Though well done for not making it obvious. I cant believe they all went quiet when you ordered. Honestly, It maybe they didn't understand and so watched curiously. But whatever their reasons... -
Hey guys, Several nights running, I've developed what appears like gnat or mosquito bites. Mainly on my chest, face. Only a couple but I also itch all over. It clears up after a few hours. They're like raised, white welts, with redness surrounding them. They're completely gone by morning. I'm guessing its something I'm eating or drinking in the evening...

We've just got taco bell in the UK. I wonder if they offer anything gluten free. Time too find out!

ARCHIVED Are Some A Little Ocd?
realmaverick replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Thanks Julie. I didn't consider products containing wheat. Very interesting. I hope the balance I need to get well, doesn't destroy my happiness. To me, reading many of the posts, it's felt tests whats happened to some. And in many cases they're still not well. I guess I'd encourage people to explore other possibilities. Not to pin everything on gluten... -
ARCHIVED Are Some A Little Ocd?
realmaverick replied to realmaverick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Damn. This was supposed to be posted inside "celiacs, coping with". If a mod could move it, I'd appreciate it. Sorry about that. Posting from my iPad, in bed, has it's disadvantages -
I've found lots of helpful info here. But Ive also read a lot that disheartens me. Before I start, I want to make clear this is in no way an attack on anybody in particular or on anybody at all. But I'd like to better understand some stuff. It's not been easy, adapting to this new lifestyle. It's made eating feel like a chore vs a pleasure. It...

ARCHIVED Obsessing Over Celiac
realmaverick replied to rdunbar's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I think its good to be Vigilant. But I don't believe there are any benefits to being obsessive over it. Its not healthy to obsess over anything. When it's time to eat, ensure you're not eating gluten and for the rest of the time, forget you have Celiacs. -
ARCHIVED Dictating What Others Can Eat Around Me?
realmaverick replied to Cypressmyst's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I personally don't believe you can get "Glutened" by smelling it. Though I'm sure if there's a lot of ground wheat particles in the air, it could have an effect.e I think perhaps you have more wrong with you than just Celiacs and thus a gluten free diet isn't making you 100% well. I'm finding it more and more obvious that those with celiacs, are blaming... -
ARCHIVED Celiac And Reflux (Gerd)
realmaverick replied to gifree's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Forgive me for not reading the responses, I'm working in the background. I may well be repeating what somebody has already said. Celiacs often accompanies other intolerance's. Lets say for example you're lactose intolerant but don't realise it. You suddenly went gluten free, but as a result drank much more milk to substitute other drinks that you now can... -
ARCHIVED Anxiety, Depression, And Friends
realmaverick replied to curiousgirl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If my anxiety goes away, with my gluten free diet, that alone would be amazing. I've always been a worrier and get terribly anxious. For example, if my partner is late home, I'll start to worry he may have been in a crash and make myself sick with worry. Though that said, it just dawned on me, that for the past few weeks, my anxiety levels have been much... -
Thanks for all the replies. It drives me mad. I mean, your eyes are not only visible, but such an important part of your face, when they're red, I feel quite embarrassed if I'm around new people. My god, that happens to me several times a day. Sometimes there maybe an eyelash in there. But often I cannot see anything, but something that feels like...

I just accidentally, negatively repped my own post from my iPad. Oops. I'm guessing I can't undo that? Ha

ARCHIVED Blood Sugar Levels
realmaverick replied to hazelbrown10's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I have the same issue. If i don't eat regularly, say every 3 hours, I get very shaky, weak and light headed. At this point I need to just stuff my face like an animal. Often I'm certain I'd pass out if I didn't get sugar inside me at this point. The other day I eat potatoes and chicken and within 5 minuts I felt weak and shaky. I wasn't hungry, but needed... -
I've had this issue for as long as i can remember. My eyes are sore and red several times a day, often for most of the day. My eyes don't get puffy, just red and sore inside. They're extremely sensitive to smokey rooms, air con and fluorescent lights. Flou lights are horrific intact. They make my eyes red raw within minutes. My optician says my eyes...
