  1. Hey - you sound just like me! And probably a lot of other people on here... I am also 25 and was misdiagnosed with IBS. I also have trouble losing weight - seems to be how my bosy responded as well. My doctor was not that fast with me - in fact I was extremely happy they knew what celiac was at all, but they were not the best either. They didn't even look...

ARCHIVED I Have A Doc Rec. In Sc

An internest in Travelers Rest, SC named Dr. Diehl has Celiac Disease and knows how to treat it. They have a health care practice a little different from what you are used to. www.paradocshealth.com - Here is their deal: - They will not stop trying to find out what is wrong till you are satisfied - Before they even see you, you need to fill out a long...
  3. Thanks - I ordered a women's health panel from Quest Test - you can just order your own tests from them without a doctor. It still showing more the same off numbers but luckily no evidence of anything bad like organ damage. I had low urea nitrogen (only really bad when it is high) some funky blood numbers that indicate iron deficiency anemia although I am...
  4. Yeah, do hang in there and try removing dairy for few weeks. If that doesn't work, try corn next, then rice. I really don't think there are many hypochondriacs in this world. Just a lot of skeptics.
  5. I really need some of your help. My doctors keep running one test, and then if it is neg, I get a dead end. They tell me the results on the phone and then I have to call back to get seen again to continue to pursue what is wrong. I have had something swollen with a stiff, icky feeling off and on in my neck for about 8 months. For the past 5 weeks, it...
  6. ANA tests for connective and rheumatic trouble, like rheumatoid arthritis and lupus. It has a lot of false positives though. More technically, it looks for anitibodies that will attack healthy cells.
  7. Well, my thyroid came back normal, but he added an ANA test to it to see if it was related to Raynaud's, which I was showing symptoms of. The ANA came back positive, which caused him to run other more specific tests, which all came back negative. He said he wants to recheck the ANA in 4 months. I am glad I don't have thyroid disease or lupus, don...
  8. I'm surprised no one has mentioned Raynaud's yet. I was recently diagnosed. It is also autoimmune and is tied to the same gene as Celiac. It is also related to lupus and other rheumatic diseases. Basically, the immune system overreacts to changes in temperature or emotional upset and sends all the blood away from the extremeties and towards the internal organs...
  9. Just found this topic and wanted to fire it up again. I got an ANA test back positive at 1:160 with a speckled pattern. I also have Raynaud's. My doc is running more tests, but he said he really has no idea what it could mean yet, if anything. He said usually you need a higher titer to be referred to a rheumy. My neck is bothering me a lot. It feels swollen...
  10. Yes, I ate out Sun, Mon, Tuesday and Friday. I feel sure that Sun, Mon and Tues were ok, and I started reacting Thursday night, so if I was glutened Friday, it only made what happened Thursday worse. The aunt that cooked was a nurse who had a friend with Celiac, but I doubt she knew all the nuances of the disease. I guess it isn't really that important...
  11. Hi guys - I am sure I was glutened last weekend on vacation, but I am not sure how. I was stupid and has a Cosmo drink without thinking about what was in it (Absolut Vodka) and so I assumed that was what did it. However, I have seen in more than one place on these boards that vodka is gluten-free because of the distilling process. My aunt made dinner...
  12. Whatever you have, whether it be celiac or not, sounds autoimmune. They are so hard to diagnose. Have you had your thyroid levels checked? You sound hyperthyroid with the racing heartbeat, anxiety and digestive symptoms. (I am not sure if hypertyroid gets loose stools, but hypo can result in the opposite.) How about your blood sugar? Keep listening...
  13. Wow. Thyroid cancer is big. You will make it through. Thanks for telling me to listen to my body - you are right. I feel crazy doing it, but I made an appt. for this Thursday and am going to try to push for both a scan or ultrasound in combo with the blood tests. It will cost a pretty penny, but it would if it got worse, and I will have to buy a whole...
  14. oops, should have read my previous post! Sorry I repeated myself so much!
  15. Thank you so much for your input, both of you. I am eating about 1500-1800 calories a day. I was anorexic as a teen, so this bothers me a lot since I know how much food I am eating. I do need to watch my portions though, just to make sure it is not that. I decided to go to the doc this Thursday for them to do thyroid blood tests again and I will push...
  16. Interesting how your symptoms started. You may have gotten a bacterial infection as a result of your holding. I had mono when I was 19 and had large intestine impaction when I was 20. I am not sure which started my symptoms. I was leaning toward mono, but it could have been the impaction I suppose. Anyway, I agree with the others. Hopefully you can convince...
  17. Wow - I have no problem with exercising more, but I don't think it would help - I started gaining when I was training for a half-marthong and working out an hour of more 5 days a week. I eat the carbs I can - rice and potatoes, corn, fruit, veggies and gluten-free pasta with sauce. I don't like meat much (and I still have trouble digesting it), so when...
  18. You guys said you both gained weight on gluten and lost it after you went gluten free. How long after going gluten free did it take for you to start losing? I gained about 10 pounds last year with no reason that I know of whlie I became more anemic and sick, so I have been thinking it was because of gluten. However, I have been gluten-free for a month...
  19. Thank you! Yup, I got the Food for Life brick.
  20. It is crumbling into peices still frozen. Do I defrost the whole loaf and eat it fast before it spoils, keeping it in the fridge, or do I defrost it separate it and freeze sections that I can defrost bit my bit. I can't cut it frozen, and it was expensive, so I don;t want it to go bad!
  21. Yeah, when I first learned floating BMs were a symptom of celiac, I was like, I thought everybody's poop floats. Lol. I kept asking everyone (who was close to me of course) if theirs did, and they all said no. That's when I started realizing this might really be celiac. And of course it was, and now it sinks! Perhaps you had a gluten accident?
  22. My neck doesn't get red, it's just very sensitive - yeah, turtlenecks bother me a lot more than they used to and I don't like my husband touching or kissing my neck - something I used to love. Which tests should I ask for to make sure the whole range of thyroid trouble is covered?
  23. For those of you who have diagnosed thyroid trouble--is getting a stiff nexk or feeling like parts of your neck are swollen part of it. It comes and goes for me - my neck will funny, like I am fighting off sickness for a week, then go away for 3 weeks, then come back again, in a slightly differnt place, but usually in front. Any ideas? I had my thyroid...
  24. IBS is a syndrome, and they are trying to figure out what causes it. I have also heard that it is a spasm problem - that the connection between your brain and intestines gets messed up and your colon has spasms at the wrong times, moves things too quickly or too slowly through. However, because it is a syndrome, that means it is something they have seen in...
  25. It really depends on what the lab says the ranges are for normal results. For my results and IGA and IGG of less than 25 was normal, but that could be different with the lab your doctor used. I did not have the TTG test - I had the EMA, which simply read POSITIVE. I believe the ranges for TTg can vary widely depending on the lab. The references should be...
