  1. Hmm, you will have to ask your doctor (or maybe someone here knows) about that. You did get the tTG test, which is very specific and sensitive, and that was negative, meaning you probably do not have Celiac. Perhaps the high IGA means a gluten sensitivity that is not Celiac. Really don't know here, though..
  2. When I participated in an IBS study (the one that informed me I had positive blood results for Celiac), they also did a bloat breath test to test for h. pylori, the bacteria that can grow in your small intestine and cause ulcers and bloat and for lactose intolerance. I was borderline positive for h. pylori overgrowth, and my doc put me on a round of strong...
  3. Hey there, I think only your Gliadin IgA is high (that's what the H means). Normal is less than 25. What your doctor said was strange though - if you have Celiac, you are doing damage to your small intestine whether you have Celiac or not. He did not do a full panel with very specific results. You would need the Edomysl or the TTG test for a more accurate...
  4. Voice changes are very much linked to thyroid trouble, as you probably already know. I was treated for h. pylori, and I want to warn you - the first few days were rough - the antibiotics are very strong, but after about 4 days, I started feeling like a new person again. Unfortunately, about a week after I went off the antibiotics, I started feeling bad again...
  5. Are you male or female? Either way, as the above poster said, could be low testosterone. Could be that you're over stressed and need a vaca though! I mentioned this problem to my gyno, and she was very responsive. Anyway, if you are female and on the pill, it is almost always the pill's fault. My gyno prescribed a pill with lower estrogen, said give it 3...
  6. So I am going crazy feeling like crap and waiting for this endoscopy. My appt is June 17, when I think all I get is to see a Nurse Practicioner. How long after your initial appt with a gastroenterologist could they get your endoscopy done? I am going to tell them that if they can't do it within a week of the appt, I am not doing it. I can't wait a whole...
  7. Did you get an endoscopy? With symptoms that bad, I would say you need one and soon.
  8. From what I have read, Chron's can also give you all kinds of trouble. Go for the colonoscopy - it will at the very least rule out a few more things and make you feel better knowing that your colon is ok (hopefully). Sounds like it is doubtful that you have celiac if you bloodwork was negative, but if the colonoscopy comes back fine too, I would push for...
  9. My doctor also mentioned colonoscopy when I asked him about celiac, and it made me think he was crazy. Maybe they were both referring to ruling out other things with colonoscopy. Colonoscopy in itself cannot diagnose celiac. You should get the celic blood tests first, and if those are positive, your doc (you may want to go see a gastroenterologist as we are...
  10. Hermit, yeah, that is what I meant. By a mix between C and D (about to give TMI.......) I meant no watery really loose stuff, but not well formed either, does the same as yours does. Except mine is about 4-5 times a day, a lot of volume. Then sometimes I can only get pellets and only once a day or less - that is the C and the most bothersome.
  11. How much does endoscopy cost?
  12. I'm 5'4". My family always said I would be taller than my sister, but she is 5'5" or 5'6". Course I also wore size 2 shoes in 6th grade, unaware that my feet were trying to grow. When they refit me, I was a size 7 and had all deformed feet. I wish I could go back and change that - maybe I would have a few more inches! I don't mind being short that much, it...
  13. Yeah, I need at least 9, sometimes 10, and if I lie down at any point, I WILL fall asleep, no matter how exciting whatever it is that I am watching on TV, especially after gluten. I have had positive bloodwork but am not gluten-free yet - waiting for an appt. with a specialist.
  14. I didn't have trouble with iron tablets and sleep except for when they would make my stomach hurt, which would in turn wake me up. Sometimes I would take a benedryl with them to help me sleep, which worked. I only did that though cause I knew I was on the pills short term. Most of my sleeping problems were due to the anemia before the iron started working...
  15. I have been diagnosed with IBS, trying to figure out if it is celiac currently. I have had that pain after a BM. Don't want to come back to my desk and sit down. And I don't have hemorroids. If you do have IBS, you might want to ask your doc about Zelnorm. It is hard to take as directed because it is centered around your meals and not a regular time once...
  16. I am not sure if it a generic diagnosis, I think it does have some basis, but I DO think people should be tested for a lot of things before doctors diagnose IBS, celiac being one of those things. You have already had the colonoscopy, but I would also recommend breath tests for bacteria overgrowth and lactose intolerance. If all of those are negative and you...
  17. Well I just got blood results back Friday (about 4 days ago) and then tried gluten-free and then called a specialist who said I needed to keep eating gluten for a month until I could see them. Anyway, during that brief weekend when I was avoiding it, my friends were great. Almost all of them had heard of it and knew someone and wanted to help figure what...
  18. I was diagnosed with IBS by a GYN and when I would mention from there on out, no other doc questioned it - never had any testing. I am normal weight (though I have gained of late and feel fat) and suffer from both D and C, kinda something in between though. I had blood tests as part of an IBS study that showed high pos. for celiac disease, and I am waiting...

    ARCHIVED Anemia

Hey there, Your hematocrit should be about 37-38 or above. Your hemoglobin should be 12 or above. The lowest I have been tested at was 30 and 10 and I responded to therapy through slow release pills. I am sorry some of you are having to do the infusions, but it is good that you have a doctor that is taking care of you and not just telling you to eat more...
  20. Uff, I can't get in to see the specialist's nurse praticioner even until June 17th, and they want me to keep eating wheat until then! (And probably after then, cause I imagne they are not doing a scope that day!)
  21. Why do so many doctors feel that the blood test is not good enough? I happened to have my OB/GYN appt. yesterday, so I told her about it - she seems quite knowledgeable- her sister is celiac, but she said I need to go see a gastro specialist to make sure it is celiac because no one is sure how accurate those blood tests are for diagnosing. She mentioned that...
  22. Yeah, I had a sigmoid as part of the IBS study that told me I was positive for celiac (blood tests). It gave a tremendous peace of mind, I have to tell you. I saw a post earlier about the vaso vagal syndrome, when you get dizzy after standing up quick or after standing in one place at the same time. Is that related to celiac? I started noticing that problem...
  23. So, I was very surprised to have positive blood results and honestly I need to be told by somebody that this means I do in fact have Celiac before I can be gluten free. My symptoms: -bloating -weight gain -sluggishness -brain fog -anemia (may have been because of ulcer) -IBS symptoms - totally spastic large intestine Here are my results: - Gliadin...
  24. Hey, You sound like me! I was told IBS a long time ago. My plumbing just seems to get clogged, and it does seem to worsen with any type of stress. Sometimes I would be ok with the IBS diagnosis, other times I wouldn't. I gained a little weight (but mostly inches) and had spastic bowel movements - sometimes a lot a day, sometimes none for days, and tons of...
  25. Hey there, I have not been diagnosed as celiac, but I have been quite anemic, which is the first thing I think of when you mention dizziness and paleness. Have you had your blood count checked by a doc recently? Really, you could even just go try and give blood to find out. Worse thing that could happen is you end up giving a pint and saving some lives. ...
