ARCHIVED Genes Testing
eatmeat4good replied to beebs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I didn't mean to scare you. I had that kind of pain where you walk like you are 90. It all went away when I went gluten free. Joint pain, muscle pain, bone pain and a whole lot of other stuff. I hope you will either pursue more testing or just go gluten free. I recognized your symptoms in myself and I miscarried once after the third trimester. I now attribute... -
ARCHIVED Genes Testing
eatmeat4good replied to beebs's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'm worried about you. How far into your pregnancy are you? Are you gluten free? The way you described your body rejecting gluten foods makes me worry that you should be gluten free immediately and you likely have Celiac. If it is even suspected I think you should err on the side of caution and go gluten free. Miscarriages are more common in untreated Celiacs... -
ARCHIVED Should I Be Tested, Or Just Try The Diet?
eatmeat4good replied to 1sickscooby's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I gained a massive amount of weight during the years I was sick. All you have described is consistent with Celiac. I just wanted to let you know the weight gain is a symptom also, even though many Dr.'s will say it is only weight loss. I went up from 120 to 200 lbs in 6 months. Every 25 lbs. I went to the Dr. and described this horrifying weight gain and... -
It is very possible that this is gluten/Celiac related. Unfortunately a lot of Dr.s are not very knowledgeable. it cost me 7 years of my life. The inability to digest is significant. If you cannot get a diagnosis from a Dr. you certainly have enough significant problems to give gluten free a serious try. Eating bread every day is huge amount of gluten and...

ARCHIVED Celiac And Religion
eatmeat4good replied to Sharpy's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
I think the Bible originally might have read Man cannot live by bread at all. Accidentally translated to read Man cannot live by bread alone. Just food for thought. -
ARCHIVED Feeling Frustrated
eatmeat4good replied to Jamieappleby's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
My puffy face and eyes seemed to be due to soy. Once I eliminated that I got much much better. Just a thought -
ARCHIVED How To Handle Eating Out With Cc Risk?
eatmeat4good replied to Melstar23's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I am gluten free 3 months and I am coming to the humbling conclusion that I won't be ever risking my health to another food preparer. I ate out 2 days ago and carefully ordered and the chef and waitress were very helpful and tried to make a safe meal...just meat and veg. Well, I got sick. I have the DH and am very sensitive and get sores and migraines. That... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free And The Holidays
eatmeat4good replied to hal2me's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I would say "I am not trying to be rude when I don't eat your food, but people with Celiac disease are prone to developing intestinal cancers and I would like to be here for a few more Christmas's with y'all if you don't mind." Then I would smile, grab my salad and walk away. I might also say that "I have missed a few Christmas's before I knew what was wrong... -
Yes, for me it does. I am still healing (3 months) and the only thing I kept using was coffee mate. I love the stuff. But after feeling so sick....I realized it is the soy. Every single time. I now use half n half or real cream. I think that solved the problem...until I start getting sick from the dairy! Good luck. I am right there with you on this..learning...

ARCHIVED Gluten Free In A Gluten House Hold.
eatmeat4good replied to Tynkfx's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
1. Have your own sponge for dishes. Keep it separate. I forgot to change the sponge.ugh 2. Keep silverware and utensils in a tupperware or sealable plastic box. It is harder to CC if closed, plus it makes it VERY inconvenient for them to grab your stuff and use it out of convenience. 3. Use Waxed paper or paper towels on your countertop so you can avoid... -
ARCHIVED A Wondering Medical Student
eatmeat4good replied to BlueMerlin's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
It might be the secondary intolerances. I had a huge and immediate benefit on going gluten free it lasted about a moonth. The second month struggled with the secondary intolerances, Dairy, Soy, Nightshades. I am sure it is disheartening to her to be sick again. Please don't stop trying though. There are a lot of good knowledgeable people here who will give... -
ARCHIVED Doctor Tells Me I Need To Eat Gluten For 15 Days!
eatmeat4good replied to celiaco's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
After reading all of these posts, I would like to say that going on the gluten free diet is free, legal, and a personal choice that does not require a prescription from a Dr. It seems Dr.'s don't want to believe in testing children who don't have numerous or classic symptoms. And even if they do test, it is likely that they may test negative even though they... -
ARCHIVED Joint And Muscle Pain
eatmeat4good replied to Kimbalou's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm kinda in the same boat in wondering how much exercise is good for you when newly recovering. I'm only two months in. But I am not made of the kind of stuff you are. If it hurts I just quit!! No but seriously I decided that walking and stretching is enough for now. I don't know if you can damage things or help them with vigorous Kung Fu exercise, but I... -
ARCHIVED New, In Pain, Alone, And Really Depressed
eatmeat4good replied to KaelinG's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Oh my! This is not silly at all. It is serious. Something isn't working and you are being diligent. I would cry too. I have only been gluten free 2 months and I was extremely and severely ill for 7 years, but I have had relief from the constant pain and the headaches. I do wonder if you have considered the secondary food intolerances some people get. Soy... -

eatmeat4good replied to WesternMA12's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I read somewhere that the antibodies remain in the skin for some months after going gluten free. Depends how badly you want the testing. I had active lesions and the Dermatologists I went to refused to biopsy mine. They said it was "acne" or "neurotic excoriation". One was a Chief of Dermatology at a major medical center. Go figure. I can tell you from experience... -
ARCHIVED Celiac Switching From gluten-free Back To Gluten..help!
eatmeat4good replied to kostrof1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Hi Friend, I just had a thought for you as I was reading another post. Doctor's tell patients all the time to go back to eating gluten at the rate of 3 or 4 slices of bread per day for 6 weeks prior to testing. If they can make it through that then so can you regardless of what you are having to go through. I think what matters most is that you are true... -
I've only been 2 months into this but I will say that I think Udi's bread is better than regular bread! Reminds me of English toasting bread. My son likes gluten free pasta way better than wheat pasta too. Welcome to the adventure...and I hope you start feeling way better really fast!

ARCHIVED I Want To Share This Glorious Moment
eatmeat4good replied to revenant's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
That is wonderful! I am so amazed when young people figure this out! And you really are wise to know how to approach others too. I am trying not to be preachy with my sister but I want her to feel better too. Your perseverence paid off with your mom. I'm gonna take your advice on how to approach this by making it their idea. Brilliant! And I am only 30 years... -
ARCHIVED Sick Of Being So Different
eatmeat4good replied to GFMochi's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
That is terrible! I am so sorry you had to go through that. -
Depression and anxiety are what I feel when gluten CC hits. Weepy, sad to the bone, feel like I wanna cry if someone speaks to me. Then the rest of the reaction hits, but the depression, anxiety and sadness are overwhelming. Thankfully it goes when the gluten goes. I hope you drop the oatmeal for now. You have enough going on. I'm sorry about your break-up...

ARCHIVED Celiac Switching From gluten-free Back To Gluten..help!
eatmeat4good replied to kostrof1's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, unfortunately I have direct experience, so I will share it with you regardless of what your situation is. When I went back on gluten after 5 years on whole foods, my symptoms were 10 times worse than they were before. I didn't know about gluten at the time. I had remained on the Atkins strict version of the diet for my weight. I spent the number of grams... -
ARCHIVED Acne Or Rash Like Problem Because Of Food Allergies?
eatmeat4good replied to pandabear's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
Oops I said lucky, but the correct word is smart. You are a very smart girl to have figured all this out. It took me much longer. -
ARCHIVED Acne Or Rash Like Problem Because Of Food Allergies?
eatmeat4good replied to pandabear's topic in Dermatitis Herpetiformis
I am 47. I had severe cystic acne (but really it was DH)as a teen - took Accutane. It worked but only temporarily. Took Tetracycline all my life since age 14. Then another round of Accutane in my 30's. The acne came back. At 40 I developed the classic weeping painful oozing rash of Dermatitis Herpetiformis. The dermatologists all called it Adult Acne...but... -

ARCHIVED Anyone Heard Of Leg Pain By Celiac Disease?
eatmeat4good replied to Tay Tay's Momma's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
Yes leg pain is one of the symptoms my son had too. He had episodes where he couldn't walk normally and would complain that his legs ache often. I think it is a good idea to get their vitamin levels checked. Calcium, D, magnesium deficiencies can cause bone pain. But checking all the vitamin levels is a good idea. There are a lot of knowledgeable supportive...
