  1. The comment was meant to compare the difference between wheat mac and cheese and non-wheat. I work with nurses too, I am one! But, I can't believe how rude some of them can be about the Celiac issue. It doesn't make sense to me! I told my co-workers when I was diagnosed...hoping they would be considerate about it. Most people are ok about it, but some of...
  2. Breadcrumbs?! I hope they are gluten-free! lol
  3. Am I being too sensitive? At work during a break the other day a co-worker said she was having macaroni and cheese for breakfast. I said "oh, I had that too!" (I've been eating Amy's gluten-free rice mac and cheese...it's so good) after I said that, another co-worker said "Yeah, but your's wasn't real!" I just said "well, it was real to me! Amy's has a lot...
  4. AMY's frozen mac and cheese is the best!! They have 2 kinds, so make sure you get the rice pasta one which is gluten free! It's a good size for one person. The other boxed brands weren't very good IMO. Let me know what you think. Safeway has a lot of Amy's foods. Amy's has a good frozen gluten-free pizza too!
  5. ok, I guess I shouldn't be so judgemental about what people are thinking when they have no clue about Celiac. The statement that surprises me the most is when people ask if white bread has wheat in it. I guess that isn't common sense regardless if people understand Celiac or not? She told me her daughter is 30 years old. that's all I know.
  6. So funny! I dealt with an ignorant cashier yesterday. ugh
  7. Will try to make this short. It still amazes me how ignorant some people are about Celiac. I was buying groceries yesterday and had some Amy's frozen dinners for work, which were gluten free of course. The cashier said "oh, those are expensive. Is it because they are gluten-free?" "yes, I have to eat gluten-free" I told her. She then went on to tell me that...
  8. Lately I feel like everything makes me gassy! I think soy and dairy sometimes makes me gassy. EVERYTHING makes me gassy. I think I should just drink water and eat rice. lol
  9. I was diagnosed with Celiac in Nov. 2010. I still have a lot of bloating and gas and wonder if I might have Chron's as well. When the Dr does an endosocopy for Celiac (I had one) can they also detect Chron's at the same time? I don't really want to be diagnosed with another intestinal issue, but I wonder if I have something else besides Celiac. The last few...
  10. Hysterectomy on top of all of this? Is that really necessary?
  11. Hi. First of all, I want to say that I think it's good that you told us how you are feeling. In my opinion, you really need to get some psychological help. It isn't normal for you to feel suicidal. Suicide is a permanent end! I am not sure about the details of your liver diagnosis, but I know about Celiac because I have it. I understand how you feel. It must...
  12. I know how you feel. As far as the Progresso soup goes, I was so EXCITED to see them labeled Gluten Free on clam chowder!! Progresso actually has a lot of gluten-free soups and I didn't realize that, maybe they are new?? I love their soup. I like soup and I don't always want to cook, so I ate the clam chowder just now! Today I made "Chocolate Snowflakes"...
  13. ok, I confess...I guess it's happened to me more than once when I really think about it! ha!!
  14. Yesterday I saw this bumper sticker: "Only speeding cause I have to poop!" It showed a poop picture too...I really had to laugh...since I've actually had to speed really fast one time before being diagnosed...because I had to poop!! It's healthy to laugh.
  15. I am the first diagnosed too. It is a strange disease to figure out, in my opinion. Nobody in my family has it. My 3 daughters are negative...and I'm glad.
  16. My sister is on WW and there are gluten free recipes too!
  17. The world might be a better place if people like that WOULD kill themselves...lol..j/k but had to say it
  18. Sorry to hear about that...but why couldn't you eat the potatoes or veggies?
  19. I was careless too. A co-worker mad some soup and I asked her if it was safe for me to eat...she is very knowledgable about food, she used to be a caterer. I trusted her...but later found out she used Uncle Ben's wild rice...which has hydrolyzed wheat protein in it. ugh. I had 4-5 episodes of watery diarrhea the next morning. I blame myself, though...I took...
  20. I know what you mean. On one hand, I want to help people in case they have it but they don't know...but then I risk getting treated badly every time I mention it. I do get tired of explaining it, so I will just say "no thanks" from now on...without any explaining. so, I found out too late that the soup had uncle Ben's wild rice in it...googled it and found...
  21. Yes, I had one. I think it's necessary because Celiac is a life-long disease and so is the diet. I just wanted to make sure I had it...and I also had my kids tested.
  22. I have a feeling most people who don't have celiac think people who do have celiac are just pests who are picky about their food.
  23. There's one person I know who is actually being sarcastic about me having Celiac! This person has a relative who, according to her, seems to have every disease there is. So, when I was excited to be able to eat a co-worker's soup she made for us, this person sarcastically asked me "Is it GLUTEN FREE??" I asked her why she acts this way about it and if she...
