  1. It does seem to be the adults celiac disease'ers get more sensitivities and intolerances than the kids. But is this because the adults struggled to get a dx for many years-meanwhile all sorts of damage happening to their immune system and digestive system. Those dx in childhood do seem to have a better outlook-children never suffer from Refractory Coeliac...
  2. Thanks guys,bare with me-I'm still learning!!
  3. I am trying to read someone elses blog. For instance on pg 2 if I click on bandanamama's blog(still in denial...)It takes me to an empty page. However it say's it has10 views. Maybe they haven't published yet-can you read it. Very confused technophobe!!
  4. Lol!.That's not what I meant! Okay,on the last three blogs on pg1 and the whole of pg2 when I click on blog name it takes me to a blank page. Also in the 'entries' column it is 0.'Last Entry' column is also empty. It's probably something really simple i'm doing(or not).
  5. What's happened to the last 3 blogs on the blog list??
  6. We suspect my dh has had celiac disease since childhood, always extremely thin, now at 6ft at 110 pounds. Oddly enough most of his family are on the small side(one brother is only 5ft 4inches-no celiac disease) It seems that children grow-even if they're malnourished-but I think you pay the price in your health in later years.

  9. Okay, thanks Carrie, didn't sound right. BTW,it seems as though the prophecy of Down's more likely to get celiac disease is happening. Although he scored a 'borderline' result on the tTg,docs think he may have Iga deficiency which could show a false positive(I think!?) He has all the symptoms,Loose frequent stools, swinging to chronic constipation,bloated...
  10. I have never heard that you're more likely as a coeliac to have a child with Down's Syndrome!! I knew that Down's are more likely to get celiac disease. My hubbies a coeliac and one of our son's has Downs. He is now 12 yrs old. Does anyone have any links to this claim?Very interesting.....
  11. Interesting article,I didn't realise the tTg missed so many people. I think my husband is a medical mystery! All his bloods were negative except for the tTg which was borderline. When he had biopsy it showed extensive villous atrophy-so it doesn't necessarily correlate that high levels of antibodies means more intestinal damage.

    ARCHIVED Miserable

Hi jknnej, some of your symptoms are so similar to my husbands.Since going gluten-free he has been bombarded with strange symptoms(only symptom before dx was diarrhea) Strangley enough my hubbie lost his voice when he started the diet.He could just about whisper. He had thyroid tests and a ct scan of his throat, but was all normal. He also started to get neurological...

    ARCHIVED "celiac Isn't Hereditary"

Hi Limpia, your post caught my eye as you mentioned that your son was dx with adhd and tourettes. My youngest son has been dx with dyslexia and add. His Dad was dx coeliac 9 months ago.I have put my son on a gluten free diet to see if this helps.Doctor won't test him as he has no bowel symptoms-the idea that celiac disease can have neurolgical effects without...
  14. Thanks again Kaiti,I think I'm getting the hang of this!....
  15. I'll try and post a linkOpen Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link Open Original Shared Link As I say,no visible signs of improvement yet,but we'll try anything, cos boy is that boy hard to handle...
  16. How do you post a link so you can just click on it to take you to the website?
  17. I don't know if this is in the right place-bare with me. My husband was dx with celiac disease 9 months ago. My youngest child has recently been dx with dyslexia with severe behavioral/emotional dfficulties. He's been expelled from school. There are quite a few links out there with dyslexia and other problems improving on the gluten-free diet.Thought I...
  18. Thanks Kaiti, you'll have to bear with us less computer literate!
  19. I have re-posted my reply ,but something odd is still going on. As the newest post in 'post diagnosis' section it should have shown on the home page. However the newest post in this section is showing as 'l-glutamine' by bean. When you click on to 'post diagnosis' section,'L-glutamine' post is not there?? I hope this makes sense to someone,I'm struggling...
  20. My husband was tested for Lupus and the rheumatoid factor, both were neg.The doctors then diagnosed Psoriatic Arthritis. This is like rheumatoid arthritis but with the skin condition psoriasis. This was about 3 years before dx of coeliac.I was never truly happy with the diagnosis of pa as he only had a small patch of flaky itchy red skin on one knee. Since...
  21. Hi Sharon, In answer to your question about your son-doing just a tTg test is normal to see if his level of antibodies have gone down since going gluten-free. To gain the full facts your doctor would have done better to include a tTg test in your coeliac screen. The tTg test is only for coeliac disease(meaning it is only gluten intolerance that can give...
  22. Okay, thanks celiac3270,I found my post in 'find all posts for this member',but it definitely is not on the board?..
  23. Would Iga deficiency give false low readings for the other tests?(Igg,tTg orEma?)
  24. I replied to a post from Sharon C in Post Diagnosis titled 'son going for follow up'-it's disappeared.Sure I read it after posting, can't find it ?.....
  25. Okay, I admit it.I also got 'lost' following one of bean's fascinating links. My heads spinning with all this info! Since my hubbie was dx with celiac disease 9 months ago I have become more and more interested in diet and nutrition.I've learnt loads already from here but I know I'm only scratching the surface! In particular I find the topic of 'dangerous...
