Dx: Celiac Disease '08, Hashimotos Thyroiditis '08, Diabetes '07, Fibromyalgia '08

  1. Hello Everyone! I am a pretty new member here, but not-so new to being dx with Celiac Disease. I was diagnosed with Celiac in 2008 via a Celiac Panel that came back positive. I have a very lengthy history with an eating disorder, and while I have stopped binging and purging and starving, I still have food issues. I have struggled to remain gluten...
  2. I also have Hashimotos and Fibromyalgia, and am on Synthroid (for the Hashis) and Neurontin & Naproxen for the fibro. OTC, I take TUMS and Liquid Antacid. I used to be on Prevacid though. I am on some other meds as well b/c I have bipolar disorder and generalized anxiety disorder, but those are the meds I am on to help deal with the associated autoimmune...
  3. I was diagnosed with Celiac at age 28. I think it's a common misconception that Celiac only occurs in childhood, which is why so many people go un or mis diagnosed.
  4. I work at a drug and alcohol treatment center, and am currently in school to become an LCDC (Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor)
  5. Does anyone know why Hashis and Celiac is so closely co-occuring? I have both Celiac and Hashis, diagnosed around the same time.
  6. I was diagnosed in 2008, and I still struggle to remain 100% gluten free. I am also recovering from an eating disorder, so that definitely plays into my struggle to lay off the gluten. My hope is that one day I will indeed be able to be 100% gluten free because I *feel* better when I don't eat gluten, and I know that there are long term health consequences...
  7. Wow, I never really thought about it - but YES! My RLS virtually disappeared after going gluten free.
  8. Thank you for posting this! I am a recovering bulimic (five and a half years purge free) but still struggle with compulsive eating. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2008, just two and a half years into recovery and being free from Bulimia. It was a really hard diagnosis for me, I feel, due to my eating disorder history. Did you find that to be true...
  9. I also have TMJ. For me it developed after I got my wisdom teeth out. During this time though, I was struggling with my health, and about a year later I was properly diagnosed with Celiac. I find this thread interesting. Not sure if the TMJ is related to Celiac or not though.
  10. I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease in 2008, and I am also overweight. I too was under the misconception that most Celiac's are underweight. You're not alone!
