  1. I've been gluten free for a year now and for the last 2 months been feeling perfectly fine. I just this past weekend managed to find Udi's gluten free breads at my local store, so I bought some of the gluten free hamburger buns to use with my Five Guys Burger the other night. It was AMAZING. Sat with me perfectly, no issues. This was also the first time...
  2. I never thought I'd say I missed the days of nausea, diarrhea, constipation and all those "fun" bowel related issues, but I do. It seems my symptoms have changed to more neuro related ones. I've been glutened now for 2 days and had minimal bowel involvement, and much more pronounced body weakness, brain fog and I even lapsed near to migraine today (a timely...
  3. **FAIR WARNING: I HAVE NOT RECEIVED A RESPONSE FROM COCA-COLA ABOUT THIS STUFF YET, SO I COULD BE WRONG, BUT I AM HAVING A REACTION, AND THIS WAS THE ONLY NEW THING I'VE ATE IN THE PAST DAY. I bought some of this shopping this past week, and guess what? It seems to have glutened me. Unlike the other "Simply" products, and I didn't notice this before purchasing...
  4. I got cross contaminated on Monday this week, and the bloating/gas has been out of control. When I'm at my worse, I've got the "pregnant" thing going on in spades, but I've found if I hit some anti acids or drink some ginger ale, it drops back down to nothing, along with my symptoms.
  5. You're right, I need to just blow it off, and she probably is just all gluten headed and acting weird from it. But at the same time, I took it personally, like a spit in the face for everything I, and everyone like us all, has dealt with.
  6. Great progress! I'm glad you're getting better. Keep it up, and keep letting us know how you're doing!
  7. I also belong to the Celiac Support Group over at Dailystrength.org. I wrote a post there, which was verbatim what I did here, and got one response I'd like to share with you all, as it hurt very deeply to think that someone out there, would think I was making this up, or saying that I'm the only one who knows what i'm talking about. If this person happens...
  8. For all of us it's different. When I get glutened, it's like I have the stomach flu, and I get body aches as well. This goes on for 3 days to a week, depending on how much gluten I got hit with. Also, my symptoms seem to continually evolve as time goes by and I heal. The symptoms will hit me harder, but I get over them faster.
  9. This is why I'm not going to leave this board. If even one person gets something out of me getting sick of the people who are scared of their own shadows, I'm doing something right. The newbie's here don't need fear mongering and negativity, they need positivity and to know they aren't alone. As for that blog, I've already got a Wordpress.com spot reserved...
  10. You can make these at home gluten free: All you need is the gluten free Rice Krispies that they sell now in stores, Kraft Jet Puffed marshmellows, and Land o' Lakes butter. Done and done! I've made them several times and no issues at all!
  11. I seem to be getting a lot of smiles for a post that I thought was going to get me quite the opposite
  12. I'm going to stay, because you're right; someone who's newly diagnosed, doesn't need to live in fear that if they eat an apple, there's going to be gluten in it for some reason. If I can help even one person feel empowered, or realize that if they lick an envelope, they'll feel fine afterward, then I've contributed something positive. I'm just at this...
  13. It took me 10 months gluten free to get to where I am now and I feel 100% myself again. The key for me was letting go of being afraid that every little twinge I felt was gluten related. I guess in a way I had to totally except and yield to my limitations before I could feel myself again. The best advice I can give you is to go at your own pace, and don...
  14. I'm going to keep my account active, there's a lot of good info here, but now that I have my feet back under me and have the upper hand on my symptoms, it's time for me to fly on my own. I'll keep posting information as I find it, from manufacturers and such. I've even toyed with the idea of creating a blog where I post nothing but responses to gluten inquiries...
  15. After almost a year gluten free now, I've been through what most of us here have, and some things special to me, as we all personalize this a little bit. Over the course of that time, the one thing that really hit me, and got me to view myself, and this disease in a new way was something my brother said to me in passing. After weeks of having symptoms that...
  16. Did you have to do anything besides order with no bun for him to know you wanted gluten free?
  17. So I emailed Five Guys because there is a brand new one down the street from me, and everyone raves about their fries, and this is what they emailed back: +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ Dear Josh, Thank you for taking the time to write in to Five Guys, we appreciate you taking the time to do so. We have received...
  18. The cashews were Planter's. I learned my lesson with the store brands the hard way. I've never had an issue with them, but maybe they got CC'd?
  19. So my goal of getting through the holidays without being glutened was successful! I'm happy for that. I'm 9 months gluten free now, so I'm really getting a hang of the diet. I've noticed something worrisome though, and wondered if anyone else has experienced this? I've been eating more nuts lately, to get myself more fiber in my diet. I've noticed for...
  20. I've finally hit the point where I'm feeling better more often than bad, which is great. I'm feeling like a normal person almost all the time now, so I'm very happy. One question I have for everyone is if you experienced any IBS symptoms as you got better? Not to be gross here, but I've noticed in the mornings, before I have a bowel movement, I get very crampy...
  21. Long story short, I grilled some fresh fish for lunch yesterday, with some steamed vegetables. The only thing I put on the fish was Lawry's lemon pepper and kosher salt, and within an hour I was reacting. Today, my stomach feels horrendous and I've got the body aches, my typical gluten symptoms. I've found some old threads about Lawry's stuff, but it all...
  22. So after finding out that soy milk wasn't liking me too well, I switched to Lactaid milk, and it seems to be messing me up a little bit as well. The odd part is that I can eat cheese all day, and as long as I have a Lactaid pill, I'm good to go. But as soon as it's just milk, it messes me up. Anyone have this issue?
  23. I hate to burst anyone's bubble with these, but I've been eating them for about a month now and was reacting pretty badly to them. EAT AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!!!!
  24. So I've been gluten free for 8 months, and have been doing great overall. Something has been triggering my symptoms, over the last 3 weeks or so, but I'm working on eliminating suspect foods, so that shouldn't be a huge issue. My question for you guys is, how do I get this to be the last thing on my mind, and relax again? I'm convinced that some of my...
  25. While I'm overall feeling better, I'm still having a lot of off days. My primary symptoms have always been stomach/digestive related (bloating, nausea, that kind of thing). For a good little while over the summer, I had my diet perfectly figured out. I was grilling a lot of fresh meats and fish, and eating a lot of fresh veg and I felt pretty damned good...
